Double delight for Babar! Pakistani captain wins ICC Cricketer & ODI Player of the year awards

For the second year in a row, Pakistani captain Babar Azam won the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year trophy, along with the Men's ODI Cricketer of the Year award.

This is the second time in a row that Babar has won the ICC Cricketer of the Year as well as the ODI Player of the Year awards.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has once again been named the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year.
For the second year in a row, Babar took home the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the Best men's cricketer. The Pakistani captain also won the ODI cricketer of the year award for the second year running.

The Pakistan captain accumulated 2,598 runs in 44 matches at an average of 54.12, including eight centuries and 15 half-centuries across the three formats.
In ODIs, 28-year-old Babar scored 679 runs in nine matches at an average of 84.87.
On the other hand, the ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year award was won by England all-rounder Nat Sciver.
The English all-rounder scored 1346 runs and picked up 22 wickets in 33 matches last year.

Her swing troubled many a batter in 2022 as she finished with 40 wickets from 29 matches in limited-overs cricket. She snaffled 22 wickets at an economy rate of 6.50 in T20s, while in 50-overs cricket, she picked up 18 scalps.

Australia's Tahlia McGrath has been chosen as the Women's T20 Cricketer of the Year by the ICC.
The Aussie all-rounder enjoyed an exceptional 2022, scoring 435 runs in 16 matches at an average of 62.14. She also took 13 wickets last year.
She helped Australia win the Commonwealth Games Gold as well, braving Covid during the final against India in Birmingham.

Rishabh Pant, who had another phenomenal year in the Test whites, is the solitary Indian in the Test team of the year.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is the only Indian in the ICC Test team for the year 2022.
Pant had an unbelievable 2022 in Test whites, scoring 680 runs at an average of 61.81, with two centuries and four fifties in 12 innings.
The fact that all those runs came at an astonishing strike rate of 91, makes him one of the most impactful players in the world.
While the 25-year-old was incredible all of last year, we won't be seeing him in action anytime soon as he's still recovering from the injuries he sustained in a serious car crash in December.
