The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa has landed in trouble over their decision to not publish an anti-caste poem by former BJP MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa is under fire due to their decision to not publish an anti-caste poem written by late Goan writer and former BJP MLA from St Andre Vishnu Surya Wagh.
The controversy began when the Sunday edition of the IFFI daily, The Peacock, only featured an illustration of Wagh by anti-caste artist Siddhesh Gautam. The artist shared a post on his Instagram about this controversy and said that he was asked not to publish a poem by Vishnu Surya Wagh for the Sunday issue.&nbsp;
Moreover, PhD scholar Kaustubh Naik also shared a post on his Instagram in which he said that he was asked to translate a poem from his uncle Vishnu Surya Wagh's collection. Naik further said that he was told that the poem would appear alongside a double-page illustration by artist Siddhesh Gautam. But, later he got to know that the officials did not give the go-ahead for the publication of the issue.&nbsp;
On the other hand, Ankita Mishra, the CEO of the Entertainment Society of Goa, the nodal agency that organises IFFI on behalf of the Goa government, said that the decision to not publish the poem of Wagh was an editorial call and it was purely taken for creative reasons.&nbsp;

Veteran writer K Vijayendra Prasad, actors Paresh Rawal, Ajay Devgn, Suneil Shetty, and Manoj Bajpayee were also felicitated with special honours at the opening ceremony of IFFI 2022.

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi was honoured with the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on Sunday. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur made the announcement at the opening ceremony of the film festival.
The actor was not present at the event to receive the award himself.

The opening ceremony was hosted by actor Aparshakti Khurana.
The 53rd IFFI also features retrospectives on Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Asha Parekh and Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura.
This is the first full-fledged physical edition of the festival following the COVID-19 pandemic. 280 films from 79 countries will be screened at the IFFI which runs till November 28.

Five Manipuri films, including Ishanou (The Chosen One) and Ratan Thiyam – the Man of the Theatre, will also be showcased to mark 50 years of Manipur in cinema.

The 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India is all set to take place from November 20 to 28 at Panaji in Goa. Three films of Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Asha Parekh will be screened as a retrospective at the upcoming film gala. Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura will also be felicitated with the lifetime achievement honour at the event.&nbsp;
 National Film Development Corporation of India managing director Ravinder Bhakar said that Asha Parekh suggested three of her favourite movies - &lsquo;Teesri Manzil&rsquo;, &lsquo;Do Badan&rsquo; and 'Kati Patang&rsquo;. He is also the director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI).&nbsp;
 Spanish director Carlos Suara will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the IFFI. Eight of his films, including La Caza del Conejo and Ana Y Los Lobos, will be screened at the event.&nbsp; Five Manipuri films, including Ishanou (The Chosen One) and Ratan Thiyam &ndash; the Man of the Theatre, will also be showcased to mark 50 years of Manipur in cinema.&nbsp;
 Kannada film &lsquo;Hadinelentu&rsquo;, directed by Prithvi Konanur, will open the feature section of the Indian Panorama, the flagship component of the IFFI. &lsquo;The Show Must Go On&rsquo; by Divya Cowasji will kickstart the non-feature film section. Pan Nalin&rsquo;s Gujarati film &lsquo;Chhello Show&rsquo; (The Last Film Show), India&rsquo;s official entry to the Oscars in the best international film category, and Madhur Bhandarkar&rsquo;s India Lockdown will also have special screenings at the festival.&nbsp;
 Other popular films like &lsquo;Drishyam 2&rsquo;, &lsquo;Goldfish&rsquo;, &lsquo;Bhediya&rsquo; will be premiered.&nbsp;
 According to Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra, the 53rd edition of the festival is important as it is the first chapter to be organised in-person after the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;

The Information &amp; Broadcasting Minister&nbsp;Prakash Javadekar&nbsp;has announced that&nbsp;IFFI&nbsp;2020 that was scheduled for November has now been postponed for Jan 2021.&nbsp;
I&amp;B Minister further added&nbsp;IFFI will be held in a hybrid format, virtual and physical and will follow Covid-related international film festival guidelines to be followed.
