The Indian Army has responded to Rahul Gandhi's video where the father of a martyred Agniveer claimed that he did not receive any compensation.
Taking to social media X, the Army clarified that Rs 98.39 lakh was paid to Agniveer Ajay Kumar's family, countering Rahul Gandhi's allegation that Rajnath Singh lied in Parliament about the Rs 1 crore compensation given to the families.
"Certain posts on Social Media have brought out that compensation hasn't been paid to the Next of Kin of Agniveer Ajay Kumar who lost his life in the line of duty," the Army said in a post on X.
"Of the total amount due, family of Agniveer Ajay has already been paid Rs 98.39 lakhs," it said.
"Ex - Gratia and other benefits amounting to approximately 67 lakhs, as applicable according to the provisions of the Agniveer Scheme, will be paid on Final Account Settlement shortly post due Police verification. &nbsp;The total amount will be Rs 1.65 Cr approximately."
"It is re-emphasised that emoluments due to a fallen hero are paid expeditiously to the Next of Kin of departed soldiers, including Agniveers."&nbsp;

Before taking charge as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff on February 19, Gen Dwivedi was serving as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command from 2022-2024.
Gen Dwivedi took charge of the 1.3 million-strong Army at a time India is facing various security challenges including along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China As the Chief of Army Staff, he will also have to coordinate with the Navy and the Indian Air Force on the government's ambitious plan to roll out theatre commands.
An alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa, Gen Dwivedi was commissioned into 18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles of the Indian Army on December 15, 1984. He commanded the unit later.

In appointing Lt Gen Dwivedi, the government followed the seniority principle.
"The government has appointed Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, presently serving as Vice Chief of the Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff with effect from the afternoon of June 30," the defence ministry said.
In a rare move, the government last month extended Gen Pande's tenure by one month, six days before his superannuation on May 31.
The move triggered speculations that Lt Gen Dwivedi may be overlooked for the top post.
The senior-most official after Lt Gen Dwivedi is Lt Gen Ajay Kumar Singh, the Southern Army Commander. Both Lt Gen Dwivedi and Lt Gen Ajay Kumar Singh were slated to retire on June 30.
The three service chiefs can serve till the age of 62 or for three years, whichever is earlier. The retirement age of Lt General rank officers is 60 unless the officer is approved for the four-star rank.

The Army's internal inquiry, which was initiated after three civilians were allegedly tortured to death in Jammu &amp; Kashmir's Poonch in December 2023, has found serious lapses in the conduct of 7-8 personnel at various levels.&nbsp;

On December 21, four security personnel were killed in a militant ambush in Dhera ki Gali in Poonch.
The next morning the army rounded up eight civilians from Topa Pir village in the Bufliaz area of Poonch district and five people from the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district. &nbsp;
A video went viral showing the Army engaged in physical torture.
Of the eight picked from Topa Pir village, three succumbed to serious injuries from the alleged torture.
According to The Indian Express, the inquiry found operational lapses in the overall conduct as well as individual lapses of certain personnel. The initial findings suggested a lack of command and control and administrative lapses between the Brigade Commander of 13 Sector RR and the Commanding Officer (CO) of 48 Rashtra Rifles.
The inquiry has recommended administrative and disciplinary actions against two officers and other ranks who were directly or indirectly responsible for the interrogation, the report said.&nbsp;
It was found that the Brigade Commander was not physically present at the site and the CO was on leave. Though both officers were not directly involved in the wrongdoing administrative actions have been recommended against them, the IE said. Suitable disciplinary action against the Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) and other rank officers was recommended.&nbsp;
Disciplinary action in the military could mean a court martial and Punishment could include death penalty depending upon the severity of the offense. While Administrative action means departmental action. Administrative punishment includes loss of seniority, fine, censure, or termination.

According to PTI news agency, the army sent out invitations to media houses on 22nd March for the seminar to raise awareness about the Uniform Civil Code and other topics.
However, it faced backlash from regional political parties with former chief minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah questioning the Army's involvement in a "divisive" issue like the Uniform Civil Code in a sensitive place like Kashmir.
"Is it appropriate for the Indian Army to get involved in the divisive issue of the uniform civil code &amp; that too in a sensitive area like Kashmir? There is a reason the Indian Army has remained apolitical &amp; areligious. This ill-advised UCC seminar is a threat to both these basic tenets," Abdullah said in a post on 'X'.
Going ahead with the seminar risks opening up the Army to charges of getting involved in the "murky world" of politics coupled with "interfering" in religious matters, he added.
His party colleague and NC chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq asked the Election Commission (EC) to "assess the appropriateness" of the Army discussing an issue that figures prominently in the BJP's manifesto while the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in effect.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also criticised the Army for the seminar.
"What we are seeing is the continuation of the trend of 'Naya Kashmir' and 'Akhir Kab Tak' campaigns in which the Army as an institution was seen as playing a partisan role and directly interfering in the political affairs of J-K," PDP spokesperson Najmus Saqib said.
"Post-backlash, we had seen some systemic changes, but unfortunately the seminar by the India Army as an institution depicts how far the lines between politics and security apparatus have blurred in J-K," he added.
The Army later sent out a statement, saying that it cancelled the event "due to implementation of the Model Code of Conduct".
The Army, however, said it had nothing to do with the topic of the seminar and was only providing administrative help to its organisers.
"The Legal Awareness Seminar on March 26 by Kashmir Jurist in Kashmir University has been cancelled due to implementation of the Model Code of Conduct," Srinagar-based Defence Spokesman Lt Col Manoj Sahu said in a statement.
Later, the defence spokesman told PTI that the Army has nothing to do with the topic of the seminar.
"We are only providing administrative help to Kashmir Jurists, who were organisers of this event," Lt Col Sahu said.
He said the invitations were sent out by the Army in "good faith" to facilitate an academic discussion.
The invite for the seminar to the media persons was sent by Srinagar-based PRO Defence on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, HQ 31 Sub Area, Major General PBS Lamba.

A serving Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army, who was abducted from his home in Manipur's Thoubal district by anti-social elements on Friday morning, was rescued by security forces in the evening, sources said.
The JCO, identified as Konsam Kheda Singh, a resident of Charangpat Mamang Leikai, is currently at Waikhong police station (near Kakching) in Thoubal district. Police are investigating the incident, they added.
According to sources, a coordinated search operation was launched by all security agencies to rescue the JCO which ultimately led to his safe release at 6.30 pm.
Singh, who was currently on leave, was abducted around 9am after some people barged into his home and bundled him in a vehicle and fled.
Though the cause of the abduction is not known, reports suggest that it was an extortion case as his family had received such threats in the past, officials said.
This was the fourth incident since the commencement of the conflict in Manipur wherein soldiers while on leave, on duty or their relatives have been targeted for nefarious interests by inimical elements.
In September 2023, a former Assam Regiment soldier Serto Thangthang Kom was kidnapped and killed by an unidentified armed group from the valley.
He was posted in Manipur's Leimakhong with the Defence Service Corps (DSC).
Two months later, an unidentified armed group kidnapped four people while they were travelling in an SUV from the hill district Churachandpur to Leimakhong, and killed them.
The four were family members of an Indian Army soldier serving in Jammu and Kashmir.
A fifth passenger, the father of the soldier, who was injured, managed to escape and was later airlifted by the army to Dimapur for treatment. He was eventually shifted to the base hospital in Guwahati, Assam.
An Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) from Manipur Police was attacked in his house in Imphal city on February 27. The attackers in this case were identified as Arambai Tenggol (AT), a radical Meitei group.
Following the incident, police commandos of Manipur laid down their arms in Imphal and other areas. The open defiance of discipline in the police ranks on the morning of the commencement of the state assembly (February 28, 2024) prompted Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh to visit the police officer in the hospital and also hold discussions with the senior police officials to address their grievances.
Manipur Police also published a statement blaming the notorious group AT for the attack and warned all miscreants to refrain from such acts and indicating that prevalence of such conditions will result in reimposition of AFSPA in the valley.
The security forces toiling day and night for early restoration of peace and normalcy are being targeted for performing their duty, the officials said, adding the attacks by the inimical elements on security forces and their families need to be strongly condemned and perpetrators caught and punished as per the law.
At least 219 people have been killed in the ethnic strife in the state that started on May 3 last year after a 'Tribal Solidarity March' was organised in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

&nbsp;At least two previously unknown incidents of skirmishes between the Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) have come to light with citations for gallantry awards conferred on Indian Army personnel mentioning them.
The citations, read out at an investiture ceremony by the Army's Western Command last week, provided brief details of how the Indian troops responded firmly to the aggressive behaviour by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers along the LAC.
The Army's Western Command, which has its headquarters in Chandimandir, had uploaded a video of the January 13 ceremony featuring the commentary on the gallantry award on its YouTube channel but deactivated it on Monday.
The incidents mentioned in the citations had taken place between September 2021 and November 2022.
There was no immediate comment on the matter by the Army.
The Indian Army has been maintaining a very high level of combat readiness along the 3,488 km-long LAC following the clashes in Galwan Valley in June 2020.
There were multiple incidents of skirmishes along the LAC between the Indian and Chinese troops in the last three-and-a-half years following the eruption of the eastern Ladakh border row in May 2020.
The Chinese troops attempted transgression in the Tawang sector of the LAC as well.
On December 9, 2022, PLA troops tried to transgress the LAC in the Yangtse area of Tawang Sector and unilaterally changed the status quo, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in Parliament four days after the incident.
Singh said the Chinese attempt was contested by the Indian troops in a firm and resolute manner.
Sources said several Indian Army personnel who were part of the team that responded firmly to the attempted Chinese transgression were also conferred gallantry awards at the investiture ceremony.
"The ensuing face-off led to a physical scuffle in which the Indian Army bravely prevented the PLA from transgressing into our territory and compelled them to return to their posts," Singh said on December 13 that year.
The scuffle led to injuries to a few personnel on both sides, he said.
"I would like to assure this House that our forces are committed to protecting our territorial integrity and will continue to thwart any attempt made on it. I am confident that this entire House will stand united in supporting our soldiers in their brave effort," Singh said.

Lt Colonel Karanbir Singh Natt of the Territorial Army (TA), died on Sunday after battling for his life for eight years. He had been in a coma since 2015 when he was shot in the face during a counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara.
Lt Col KBS Natt, the second-in-command of the 160 Infantry Battalion TA (Jammu and Kashmir Rifles), played a pivotal role in a critical mission on November 22, 2015.
The operation was launched in Haji Naka village following intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in the area.
Who was Lt Col KBS Natt?
Having dedicated nearly 20 years of his life to the army, Lt Col KBS Natt was an experienced officer and a recipient of the Sena medal. His military journey began in 1998 when he joined the regular army after graduating from the Officers Training Academy in Chennai. Commissioned in the 19th Battalion of the Brigade of Guards, a mechanized infantry regiment, through the Short Service Commission entry. He served for almost 14 years before transitioning to the Territorial Army.

During the November 2015 operation in Kupwara, Lt Col Natt exhibited remarkable courage. While cornering terrorists in a hut, he faced a burst of fire from a Kalashnikov. Despite being hit in the face, he valiantly saved three of his men. His injuries, however, were severe, leading to a prolonged coma that eventually claimed his life.

Captain Fatima Wasim has become the first woman medical officer in the Indian Army to be deployed on an operational post on the Siachen Glacier, the world's highest battlefield, the Fire and Fury Corps said on Tuesday.
She is the second medical officer to be deployed on the Siachen Glacier in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The Indian Army's Fire and Fury Corps announced this on social media while highlighting the significance of Captain Fatima's deployment in promoting gender inclusion within the military.
"Capt Fatima Wasim of Siachen warriors creates history by becoming the first woman Medical Officer to be deployed on an operational post on the Siachen Glacier," the Fire and Fury Corps said in a post on X.
The Fire and Fury Corps further said that she was inducted to a post at an altitude of 15,200 feet after undergoing rigorous training at the Siachen Battle School, which speaks of her indomitable spirit and high motivation.
Earlier this month, Captain Geetika Koul became the first woman medical officer in the Indian Army to be deployed at Siachen.
Siachen, located in the northern Himalayas, poses challenges due to its strategic importance, harsh climate and demanding terrain.&nbsp;

The Indian Army devised an ingenious way to help a jawan's second wife get widow status and the benefits that come with it, like a pension.
The case was complicated as the jawan's official records mentioned the name of his first wife, who had snapped ties immediately after their wedding and has been untraceable. In the absence of a divorce certificate, the second wife was not in official records.
To fix this, the Army came up with the idea of an &lsquo;elopement certificate&rsquo;, paving the way for the second wife to get the status of a legal spouse.
The veterans&rsquo; branch of Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat (UMANG) sub-area recently received an official seal on the &lsquo;elopement certificate&rsquo;.
The soldier's second wife may finally receive the family pension she has been denied for over a year.

Additional Director General of Police of Kashmir Vijay Kumar said five ultras have been killed in the operation in the Machhil sector of Kupwara district so far. &nbsp;"#KupwaraEncounterUpdate: Three (03) more #terrorists of LeT killed (Total 05). Identification being ascertained. Search operation in progress. Further details shall follow," the ADGP Kashmir posted on X.
Earlier, the Army said alert security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC on Thursday.&nbsp;

Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande and all ranks of the force condoled the death of Agniveer, Gawate Akshay Laxman, who hailed from Maharashtra.
The Siachen glacier at the height of around 20,000 feet in the Karakoram range is known as the highest militarised zone in the world where the soldiers have to battle frostbite and high winds.
The exact details of Laxman's death is not immediately known.
"Quartered in snow silent to remain, when the bugle calls they shall rise and march again," the Fire and Fury Corps said on 'X'.
"All ranks of Fire and Fury Corps salute the supreme sacrifice of #Agniveer (Operator) Gawate Akshay Laxman, in the line of duty, in the unforgiving heights of #Siachen and offer deepest condolences to the family," it said.
