District Collector Ashish Singh said four children died on July 1 and July 2 due to infection caused by suspected food poisoning, while another child died on June 30 after suffering from seizures.

Seven more children suffering from suspected food poisoning at a shelter home in Madhya Pradesh's Indore city have been admitted to a government hospital, an official said on Wednesday.
With this, the number of such children admitted to the hospital has risen to 38, he said.
As many as 204 children, including orphans and those suffering from mental ailments, had been housed at the Shri Yugpurush Dham Bal Ashram, located in Malharganj police station area here, an official earlier said.
Five children died there over the last three days while 38 others have so far been hospitalised, prompting the Madhya Pradesh government to order a high-level inquiry.
District Collector Ashish Singh said four children died on Monday and Tuesday due to infection caused by suspected food poisoning, while another child died on Sunday after suffering from seizures.
"Seven more children showed symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea late Tuesday night at Shri Yugpurush Dham shelter home and were admitted to the Government Chacha Nehru Children's Hospital," he said.
Out of the 38 children brought to the hospital, four were admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) though their condition was improving, he said.
A team of the district administration will keep an eye on the health of all the children of the shelter home for next 48 hours, Singh said.
The source of suspected food poisoning will be known only after receiving probe report of the food and ration samples, he said.
A high-level committee of the administration is conducting a detailed probe into the shelter home over various aspects, he added.

Congress' Indore Lok Sabha candidate Akshay Bam was "threatened and tortured" following which he withdraw his nomination, the opposition party's Madhya Pradesh chief Jitu Patwari has claimed while targeting the BJP.
Bam withdrew his nomination on Monday, which was the last day for the process.
"Three days ago, IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) was added to an old case against Bam. He was threatened. He was tortured in different ways for the whole night. And today he has withdrawn his nomination," Patwari alleged at a rally here on Monday.
Bam, his father Kantilal and others are accused in a case that was registered in October 2007.
On April 5 this year, the victim filed an application in the court of the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) seeking adding of section 307 after alleging that one of the accused had fired on him.
The plea was accepted on April 24 and Bam and his father have been asked to appear in a sessions court on May 10.
"What is the message in all this? Don't people from Indore have the right to use their vote? If you believe in democracy, please stand up against this dictatorship. This is not just about Congress and BJP. Anyone who wants to vote, and keep reservations and the Constitution strong must stand up," Patwari said.
Something similar happened in Surat in Gujarat, he added.
In Surat, BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared elected unopposed last week after Congress nominee Nilesh Kumbhani's form was rejected over irregularities in signature of proposers.
Patwari said the BJP is praising itself but what was the mistake of the people of Surat who wanted to elect an MP with the power of their vote.
Referring to leaders of various parties, including the Congress, joining the BJP, he alleged the ruling dispensation was misusing official machinery.
"Democracy and the Constitution are under threat," he asserted.&nbsp;

The annual awards were first started in 2016 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban. The 2023 awards covered 4,416 urban local bodies, 61 cantonments and 88 Ganga towns.

A couple's alleged revenge for a forced extramarital affair led to the murder of a hotelier and his girlfriend in Indore.

In a case of revenge, a woman and her husband allegedly killed a hotelier and his girlfriend in Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s Indore over a forced extra-marital affair, police said on Sunday. The police on Sunday arrested the accused couple Mamta (32) and Nitin Pawar (35) for the murders that occurred in the limits of Aerodrome police station on Saturday, additional deputy commissioner of police Alok Kumar Sharma said.
Hotelier Ravi Thakur (42) and his girlfriend Sarita Thakur (38) were attacked and killed with sharp-edged weapons at her house, he said, adding that the bodies were found in a state of undress.
Sarita had introduced Mamta to the hotelier, and they became friendly and began an illicit relationship, the official said.
When Nitin got wind of the affair, the couple quarrelled about it. Thakur allegedly forced Mamta to continue their relationship using an objectionable video of her, he said.
Mamta called Thakur to Sarita's house, where she and her husband allegedly killed the woman first and later attacked the hotelier on his arrival, the official said.
A sword and knife used in killings have been recovered, and a detailed investigation is underway, he said.&nbsp;

A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was registered on Friday against two members of the trust of the Indore temple where a floor cave-in a day earlier hurtled devotees into a stepwell, killing 36 persons, a police official said.
The slab constructed on top of an ancient 'bawdi' or stepwell had collapsed during a 'havan' programme held on the occasion of Ram Navami at the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple located in Patel Nagar area here on Thursday.
A First Information Report was registered against Sevaram Galani, president of Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple Trust, and its secretary Murli Kumar Sabnani under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), Juni Indore police station in-charge Neeraj Medha said.

"The 18 hours long rescue operation started at around 12:30 on Thursday, and is still ongoing," Collector Ilayaraja T said.

A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the matter.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced ₹5 lakh exgratia to the kin of the deceased while ₹50,000 to the injured. The exgratia of ₹2 lakh will also be given through the Prime Minister Relief Fund.
