One terrorist was killed Friday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, while a separate operation to track down a group of three militants is underway in Udhampur district, Army officials said.
The security agencies have expanded the scope of surveillance to the Bhaderwah area of Doda district to keep a track on terrorists potentially moving between different locations in the hilly districts of the Jammu region.
The officials said the encounter in Kishtwar broke out during an intelligence-based search-and-destroy operation launched jointly by the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Chatru forest area of the district.
During the operation, the forces established contact with the terrorists. "The terrorists were effectively engaged, and a firefight ensued. One terrorist has been neutralized so far," the Army's White Knight Corps, or 16 Corps, said in a post on X.
"Despite hostile terrain and adverse weather, our brave soldiers continue relentless operations," it added.
Special forces braved high-snow areas and treacherous terrains to track down one terrorist, while a few others are still on the move under significant pressure from security forces, the officials quoted above said.
A brief exchange of fire with terrorists occurred in the Naidgam area of Chatru on Wednesday resulting in launch of massive combing operation.
The slain terrorist reportedly was a part of the Saifullah module of Pakistan, but it has not been officially confirmed. This is the module that ambushed an army team in Doda on July 15, 2024, resulting in the death of an officer and a rifleman.
Security forces have intensified surveillance in the high-altitude areas of the Bhaderwah area of Doda district, considering the melting snow in the higher meadows, a major factor contributing to infiltration during summer months.
Supported by helicopters and drones, troops are maintaining a high degree of surveillance in high-altitude areas connecting Kishtwar, Udhampur, and Kathua districts, they said.
There have been five encounters in the past 19 days in the mountainous terrains of Kathua-Udhampur-Kishtwar, in which three terrorists were killed. Four police personnel were also killed, while three other police personnel and a girl sustained injuries.
Search operations resumed Friday in the Jopher-Marta forests in Udhampur district, officials said.
Equipped with sniffer dogs and aerial surveillance, multiple security agencies are combing the entire forest area to track down three terrorists hiding in the area, they added.
The areas have been placed under night cordons to prevent terrorists from escaping, the officials said.
On Wednesday, during a search operation by police and other security forces, contact was established with terrorists in the Jopher-Marta belt in the Ramnagar police station area of Udhampur, leading to an encounter. "Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped," said Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure.
While three encounters occurred in Kathua district, one took place in Udhampur district, and one in Kishtwar district.
The security was beefed up along Jammu-Srinagar national highway and people are being frisked and vehicles being checked as a part of this measure, they said.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly adjourned amidst uproar over the Waqf (Amendment) Act, showing rare unity among opposing parties demanding its discussion, but the Speaker deemed it sub judice, escalating tensions and adjournments.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was adjourned for the day on Tuesday following a ruckus by the National Conference (NC), Congress, PDP and other members over the Speaker disallowing adjournment of business to discuss the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
The treasury benches, including ministers, joined the PDP demanding a discussion on the Act. After their demand was rejected by the Speaker, the treasury benches did not allow the House to function for the second consecutive day.
As the House assembled for the day, NC members led by Salman Sagar, Tanvir Sadiq and Peoples Conference member Sajad Gani Lone raised the issue of adjourning the Budget Session to discuss the Act in the House.
As Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather asked them to allow the Question Hour to begin, members of the NC, Congress, People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Independents trooped into the well of the House, raising slogans and demanding the withdrawal of the "black law".
Amid the noisy scenes, PDP member Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra stormed into the well of the House, demanding the immediate passage of the resolution moved by his party.
As Parra, carrying a copy of the resolution in his hand, pressed for its passage, NC leader Abdul Majid Larmi accused him of being an agent, sparking a heated verbal exchange between NC members and other opposition legislators, including Sheikh Khursheed.
When Parra attempted to enter the well of the House, the Speaker directed the marshals to evict him. Sajad Gani Lone of the People's Conference attempted to prevent him from getting evicted.
"I was demanding the passage of the resolution in the House over the Bill. It is unfortunate on the part of the Speaker to remove me from the House. This is a Muslim-majority region. We have over 60 Muslim legislators in the House, but we cannot discuss and pass the resolution," Parra told reporters outside the House.
Nine members of the NC, Congress and Independent MLAs had submitted notices to the Speaker to adjourn business for discussing the issue on Monday. The House was adjourned for the day after two adjournments due to the pandemonium.
The situation escalated into further chaos, with NC MLAs and Sajad Lone engaging in a fierce verbal duel. "We want the resolution to be passed. This is a Muslim-majority state," Lone said.
He accused the NC of theatrics and added, "It is ironic that NC legislators are protesting against an NC Speaker just to fool the people." He further said they should bring a no-confidence motion to remove the Speaker.
Amid noisy scenes, NC members Nazir Gurezi, Salman Sagar and Tanvir Sadiq urged the Speaker to consider the sentiments of the members as they pertained to a religious matter and allow the discussion.
"We want to discuss the issue. It is our religious matter. This is a Muslim-majority state. Please allow the discussion," Gurezi said.
The Speaker said the motion was disallowed as the matter was sub judice. "You cannot undo what Parliament has done. No discussion can be held on this. I have not allowed any discussion," the Speaker said.
As pandemonium broke out in the House, the Speaker initially adjourned the proceedings for 30 minutes.
When the House reassembled after the adjournment, the treasury benches and the PDP members continued to demand a discussion on the issue.
The Jammu and Kashmir government said it has concerns over the Waqf (Amendment) Act and urged Speaker Rather to hold a discussion on it in the House.
"This government is chosen by the people. Members have been elected by the people. If it is the concern of the members, it is the concern of the government too. We cannot say it is not the concern of the government," Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary told the House amid the uproar.
Referring to Section 58, sub-rule 9, the Speaker said, "The motion shall not relate to a matter which is not primarily the concern of the government. If it is not the concern of this government, the motion cannot be taken up." This triggered massive protests from members, who thumped desks and raised slogans.
Responding to him, Minister for Agriculture Javed Dar and Minister Sakina Itoo said it is the concern of the government.
Nazir Gurezi of the NC said the Supreme Court has not admitted the matter as no notices have been issued. "Keeping this in view, a discussion can be held," he said.
However, BJP member Sham Lal Sharma and Peoples Conference member Sajad Lone told the protesting treasury benches to bring a no-confidence motion to remove the Speaker.
As the ruckus continued, the Speaker adjourned the House till 1 pm.
After House proceedings resumed, NC member Mubarak Gul stood up from his bench and urged the Speaker to allow a discussion on this important issue, saying that it involved religious sentiments.
"We seek debate. Let every member across the House speak on it. It is a sensitive issue. It is a religious issue. Some have protested in several places across the country. These are concerns for all of us," Gul said in the house.
Seeking a debate on the matter, he said it would be good to allow members to speak on it.
However, BJP member Sham Lal Sharma opposed the discussion and also the adjournment of the House, stating that the Speaker had given his ruling and rejected the adjournment motion according to the rule book.
"The government has also joined them, which wasn't the case in the past. The House is not being allowed to function by the treasury benches," he said.
Sharma said if members and the government do not have faith in the Speaker, they should bring a no-confidence motion to remove him. "Let a new Speaker decide over it," he said.
The treasury benches continued their protests, saying they wanted an adjournment and a discussion on the Act.
The BJP raised slogans like "Gundagardi nahi chalegi", "No scope for discussion" and "Dramabazi band karo", which were countered by the NC members for a few minutes.
The Speaker said his ruling was final and would not be changed. He then adjourned the House for the day.

Praising Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his support and "zero-terror" strategy, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Monday said the terror ecosystem and infrastructure have been demolished.
His force will not rest till terrorism is completely wiped out of the Union Territory (UT), the DGP added.
Prabhat was addressing a gathering after the home minister handed over appointment orders on compassionate grounds to the families of 11 martyrs, including 10 policemen at a special function at Raj Bhavan here.
The DGP said 1,614 police personnel including 515 Special Police Officers (SPOs) laid down their lives in the fight against terrorism since 1989.
He said the successful implementation of Shah's decisions like the "zero terror" plan coupled with his support have made the J-K Police strategically a very strong force.
"The sacrifice of 1,614 policemen including 515 SPOs in the fight against terrorism shows the bravery of the police force and their efforts to make J&amp;K secure and peaceful. We have already demolished the terror ecosystem and infrastructure," the DGP said.
Thanking the home minister for meeting the families of the martyrs and personally handing over appointment orders to them, he said his force will not rest till terrorism is completely wiped out of J-K.

The gunfight erupted this morning when the security forces spotted the terrorists near Jakhole village in Ghati Juthana area of Rajbagh, some 30 km from the scene of Sunday&rsquo;s encounter in Hiranagar sector.
Officials said reinforcements had been rushed and an exchange of fire between the two sides was going on when last reports were received.
The terrorists are believed to be the same group that escaped in Hiranagar sector after a gunbattle lasting more than half-an-hour on Sunday evening when a a Special Operations Group (SOG) of police launched an operation after getting intelligence input about their presence inside a 'dhok', a local term for an enclosure in a nursery in Sanyal village near the International Border with Pakistan, they said.
A massive search operation involving the police, army, NSG, BSF, and CRPF armed with technical and surveillance equipment and supported by helicopter, UAVs, drones, bulletproof vehicles, and sniffer dogs continued to track down the terrorists, who are believed to have infiltrated on Saturday via either the ravine route or through a newly created tunnel from across the border.
The security forces extended the search operation particularly the routes leading to Billawar forest and were successful in tracking down the terrorists, the officials said.
The search parties on Monday found four loaded magazines of M4 carbine, two grenades, a bulletproof jacket, sleeping bags, tracksuits, several packets of eatables, and separate polythene bags containing material for making Improvised Explosive Devices near the scene of the encounter in Hiranagar.
Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, was camping in Kathua and was seen leading the anti-terrorist operation along with Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti over the past four days.

Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Sakeena Masood ruled out any mysterious disease as the reason for the deaths in Badhaal village, saying all tests conducted both within and outside the Union Territory have shown negative results.&nbsp;
On Wednesday evening, Zabeena, who was undergoing treatment at the SMGS hospital in Jammu, died, the officials said, adding her four other siblings and their grandfather died over the past four days.
All the victims showed similar symptoms such as vomiting and loss of consciousness, they said, adding that six children of Mohammad Aslam were admitted to the hospital on Sunday and only one of them was still fighting for life.&nbsp;
The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP launched a scathing attack on the National Conference-led government in the Union Territory for its "inaction" over the deaths and urged the Centre to rush experts to properly investigate the cause of the fatalities.&nbsp;
"The Omar Abdullah-led administration has failed to prioritise the health and safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Such negligence is unacceptable and the government must take immediate responsibility to ensure that this crisis is brought under control," Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Tahir Choudhary said.&nbsp;
Amid growing concern over the mysterious deaths, the administration has directed officials to analyse reports from institutions to identify the cause of the deaths.
Initial reports indicate the presence of certain neurotoxins in the samples of the deceased, which are being further investigated to determine the reasons behind these fatalities.&nbsp;
Senior Superintendent of Police of Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar said the 11-member special investigation team (SIT) headed by the Superintendent of Police (operations) Budhal, Wajahat Hussain, has been formed keeping in view the sensitivity of the inquest proceedings initiated into the deaths.&nbsp;
Apart from police officials, the team also included experts from the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department, Microbiology Department, Paediatrics Department and the Pathology Department.&nbsp;
According to an order, the SIT in charge will also use the service of experts from food safety, agriculture, Jal Shakti (Public Health Engineering) Departments and experts of the FSL team, Jammu, for investigation. It has been directed to share the progress of the investigation with the district police office on a weekly basis.
Earlier during the day, Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Masood expressed concern over the mysterious deaths and said that the police and the civil administration would undertake a speedy probe to unveil the mystery.&nbsp;
"The health department has mobilised its entire machinery after getting information about five deaths and screened 3,500 villagers going door to door. It took samples from the villagers and sent those for testing in various laboratories both within and outside Jammu and Kashmir. "Three more people died a few days later, prompting the department to seek the assistance of the country's premier health institutions. Their teams arrived here and carried out a detailed investigation," Masood told reporters.&nbsp;
She said the mysterious deaths started occurring again after a gap of more than 40 days and it is evident that if the fatalities were caused by any disease, it would have spread immediately and would not have been restricted to three families living in close vicinity.&nbsp;
All tests conducted within and outside Jammu and Kashmir, including at the Indian Council of Medical Research in Pune, National Centre for Disease Control in Delhi, Defence Research and Development Establishment in Gwalior and the microbiology department at PGI-Chandigarh, have returned negative results, the minister said. She added that same is the case with reports of samples of water and other food items collected from the area.&nbsp;
"The health department could not find any disease, virus or infection that caused the deaths," said Masood, who visited the village last month to take stock of the situation.

The Defence Minister also reflected on the 1965 India-Pakistan war, pointing out that the then Lal Bahadur Shastri government missed an opportunity to end cross-border terrorism. He remarked, "The war between India and Pakistan was fought in Akhnoor in 1965. India succeeded in thwarting the efforts of the Pakistani army... Pakistan has been promoting illegal infiltration and terrorism since 1965... Cross-border terrorism would have ended in 1965 itself, but the then central government was unable to convert the tactical advantage gained in the war into a strategic advantage."

At least six Army personnel sustained injuries following a mine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Makri area of Bhawani sector, located in Jammu and Kashmir&rsquo;s Rajouri district. Fortunately, all soldiers are reported to be in stable condition and are receiving treatment at the Army hospital in Rajouri.
The incident occurred when the soldiers were on a routine patrol near Khamba Fort in Nowshera sector at approximately 10:45 am. One of the soldiers accidentally stepped on a landmine, triggering the explosion. The injured personnel were quickly transported to the hospital, and their injuries, though serious, were not life-threatening.
The areas near the LoC are often equipped with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system. These mines, however, can sometimes be displaced by rain, leading to accidents. This unfortunate incident underscores the inherent dangers soldiers face while operating in such volatile zones.
The Indian Army has launched an investigation to understand the cause of the blast and to enhance safety measures for personnel serving in these high-risk regions.
Recently, four soldiers were killed in a road accident in J&amp;K&rsquo;s Bandipora district when a vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge due to bad weather and poor visibility. Two soldiers were injured in the incident.

Gen Dwivedi assured that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir is firmly under control. He emphasized that the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), which has been in place since February 2021, is holding steady, although terror infrastructure still remains intact across the region. Regarding the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), Gen Dwivedi described it as &ldquo;stable&rdquo; but &ldquo;sensitive,&rdquo; particularly following the disengagement between Indian and Chinese forces at the two remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh. He added that traditional activities, such as patrolling and grazing, have resumed in areas like Depsang and Demchok in eastern Ladakh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the strategically important Z-Morh tunnel in the Sonamarg area of Jammu and Kashmir which will make the tourist resort accessible round the year.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were also present at the inauguration.
The PM landed in Srinagar at 10.45 am and then flew to Sonamarg for the inauguration. He will also address a public meeting.
This is his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the assembly elections in September-October last year.
The Sonamarg Tunnel project, around 12 km long, has been constructed at a cost of over Rs 2,700 crore. It comprises of the Sonamarg main tunnel of 6.4 km in length, an egress tunnel and approach roads.
Situated at an altitude of over 8,650 feet above sea level, it will enhance all-weather connectivity between Srinagar and Sonamarg enroute to Leh, bypassing landslide and avalanche routes and ensuring safer and uninterrupted access to the strategically critical Ladakh region. The newly inaugurated Sonamarg tunnel will also promote tourism by transforming Sonamarg into a year-round destination, boosting winter tourism, adventure sports, and local livelihoods. Along with the Zojila Tunnel, set for completion by 2028, it will reduce the route length from 49 km to 43 km and boost vehicle speed from 30 km/hr to 70 km/hr, ensuring seamless NH-1 connectivity between Srinagar Valley and Ladakh. This enhanced connectivity will boost defence logistics, and drive economic growth and socio-cultural integration across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The chief minister said the start of the new government has been "decent" and that they "did not find much difficulty" in it.
"We are bound by our election promises. We have started the process of implementing some of the promises and for other promises, we need change in the system. I hope J-K being a UT is a temporary phase," Abdullah said.
"We the people are now expecting that the promises made with us will be fulfilled. The biggest promise is the restoration of the statehood. The Supreme Court in its judgement had also stated that the statehood should be restored as soon as possible. One year has passed since and we think one year should be enough," he added.
Abdullah said the sentiments of the people should be respected their aspirations should be fulfilled.
Addressing reporters, the chief minister termed it an interaction, and not a press conference.
"We are not making any big announcements as was being speculated on social media. We only wanted to have an interaction. We will try to answer your questions," he said.
"I would like to have this kind of interaction without any agenda at least twice a year," he added.

Intense cold wave conditions prevailed across Kashmir as the minimum temperatures settled several degrees below the freezing point, officials said on Thursday.
There is a possibility of light snowfall over the higher reaches on Friday and Saturday as a Western Disturbance is set to impact the region, they said.
The night temperature dropped at most places in Kashmir as the valley continued to reel under freezing conditions. The fall in the mercury led to the freezing of water supply lines as a thin layer of ice covered the surface of several water bodies including the Dal Lake.
Srinagar recorded a low of minus 7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday night, slightly up from the previous night's minus 7.3 degrees Celsius, the meteorological department said.
Gulmarg, a tourist resort town known for skiing activities in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6 degrees Celsius, up from minus 6.6 degrees Celsius the previous night.
Pahalgam, the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir, registered a minimum temperature of minus 8.6 degrees Celsius, slightly down from the previous night's minus 8.4 degrees Celsius, it said.
Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir, logged a minimum temperature of minus 7 degrees Celsius, while Konibal, a hamlet in the Pampore area, was the coldest recorded place in the valley at minus 9 degrees Celsius, it said.
Kupwara, in north Kashmir, registered a low of minus 6.7 degrees Celsius, while Kokernag, in south Kashmir, was minus 5.5 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department has said an active Western Disturbance is set to impact Jammu and Kashmir from Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon.
Under the influence of the system, there is a possibility of light snowfall over the higher reaches towards late afternoon of Friday till the forenoon the next day, the Met Office said.
While the weather would stay mainly dry on December 29, 30, and 31, light snowfall is possible at isolated places in Kashmir from January 1-4.
Kashmir is currently under the grip of 'Chillai-Kalan' - considered the harshest period of winter - which started on December 21.
During the 40 days of Chillai-Kalan, the chances of snowfall are most frequent and maximum and the temperature drops considerably.
It will end on January 30 next year, but the cold wave would continue. The 40 days are followed by a 20-day 'Chillai-Khurd' (small cold) and a 10-day 'Chillai-Bachha' (baby cold).

Fresh snowfall in higher reaches of Kashmir

Kashmir is currently under the grip of 'Chillai-Kalan' - considered the harshest period of winter - which started on December 21.

The higher reaches of Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Tuesday as the cold wave conditions persisted across the valley and the minimum temperature plummeted several degrees below the freezing point, officials said.
They said light snowfall was recorded last night in the tourist resort of Sonamarg and a few other areas in the higher reaches of the valley.
The fall in mercury led to the freezing of water supply lines even as a thin layer of ice covered the surface of several water bodies.
Kashmir is experiencing intense cold conditions, with the maximum temperature in Srinagar on Monday settling over six degrees below normal for this time of the season.
The city recorded a maximum temperature of 2.8 degrees Celsius on Monday as the day temperature remained below the normal across the valley.
The bone-chilling cold continued throughout Monday night as well the minimum temperatures also settled below normal.
Srinagar recorded a low of minus 6.6 degrees Celsius on Monday night -- down three degrees from the previous night, the meteorological department said.
Pahalgam, the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir, registered a minimum temperature of minus 7.8 degrees Celsius, down from the previous night's minus 5 degrees Celsius, it said.
The night temperature in Gulmarg, a tourist resort town known for skiing activities in north Kashmir, settled at a low of minus 7.4 degrees Celsius -- almost three degrees down from minus 4.8 degrees Celsius the previous night, the department added.
Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir, logged a minimum temperature of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, while Konibal, a hamlet in the Pampore area, was the coldest recorded place in the valley at minus 8.5 degrees Celsius, it said.
Kupwara, in north Kashmir, and Kokernag, in south Kashmir, registered a low of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department has predicted a dip of two to three degrees in the minimum temperatures over the next few days till December 26.
There is a possibility of light snowfall over the higher reaches towards the later afternoon of December 27 till the forenoon the next day, the Met Office said.
While the weather would stay mainly dry on December 29 and 30, light snowfall is possible in the isolated higher reaches on New Year's Eve, and light snowfall could take place at isolated to scattered places in Kashmir from January 1-3.
Kashmir is currently under the grip of 'Chillai-Kalan' - considered the harshest period of winter - which started on December 21.
During the 40 days of Chillai-Kalan, the chances of snowfall are most frequent and maximum and the temperature drops considerably.
It ends on January 30 next year, but the cold wave continues even after that in the valley. The 40 days are followed by a 20-day 'Chillai-Khurd' (small cold) and a 10-day 'Chillai-Bachha' (baby cold).

After the meeting that lasted 30 minutes, the chief minister told reporters that he briefed the Union home minister about the situation in the Union territory and the experience of his government in the last two months.
"Yes, I raised the issue of early restoration of statehood with the home minister," Abdullah said, adding that "we hope that Jammu and Kashmir gets its statehood restored soon".
On whether the talks included the militancy situation in the Union territory, he said security and law and order are the responsibility of the lieutenant governor.
"I have always said and I told the home minister that 'you cannot fight militancy and terrorism in a vacuum, you will have to take the public of Jammu and Kashmir in confidence....they will also have to be brought into this battle, and for that, you will have to take into confidence their elected representatives and their elected government'," Abdullah said.
The chief minister said the talks did not include the framing of business rules for the division of powers between the elected government and the lieutenant governor's office and made it clear that the Centre had no role in it.
"Business rules have nothing to do with the government of India. We have to decide it and the Cabinet has to approve it. The Cabinet sub-committee will finalise it and then, we will send it to the LG for approval," he said.
Abdullah will be attending the Goods and Services Tax meeting in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer on December 20. To a question about the proposed hike of 28 per cent on handloom products, he said, "I have not seen such a proposal. If it comes, we will contest it. Not only us, other states will be affected too."
Immediately after Abdullah's meeting ended and he left, Shah began his second meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other senior officers to review the law-and-order situation in the Union territory.
Earlier, Abdullah met with Shah on October 23 during his first visit to the national capital after assuming office on October 16.

J&amp;K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and top officers of the Army, paramilitary forces, J&amp;K administration, intelligence agencies and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) attended the meeting.
This was Shah's first meeting to review the security situation in the Union territory after the recent assembly elections that brought to power a National Conference government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
After the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two UTs in 2019, law and order in Jammu and Kashmir comes under the central government.
The Union home minister had a detailed discussion on the security roadmap for 2025, the sources said.
Sporadic terror incidents have been continuing in Jammu and Kashmir. On October 20, seven people were killed in a terror attack in central Kashmir. Before that, there were attacks on outsiders working in the Valley.
Shah's meeting is expected to take note of the recent terror incidents and the possible steps to be taken on how to stop such attacks in the coming days, the sources added.
According to official data, 142 terrorists were killed in J&amp;K in 2019 and the number is around 45 so far this year.
Fifty civilians were killed in 2019 in the UT, while the figure stood at 14 by the first week of November this year.
