Just days after Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan objected to being referred to by her husband&rsquo;s name in the Rajya Sabha, she humorously introduced herself as &lsquo;Jaya Amitabh Bachchan&rsquo; on the House floor. The playful remark made Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar burst into laughter.
However, when the Chairman called out her full name again on August 5, Jaya Bachchan objected once more, leading to an explanation from him. In a video shared by ANI, Jaya Bachchan can be seen calling it a &lsquo;new drama&rsquo; in Parliament.
The Vice President then explained that there is a procedure to change the name on the election certificate. &lsquo;The name that appears on the election certificate and the one submitted here can be changed through a process, and I myself took advantage of this process in 1989,&rsquo; he said in Hindi.
In response, Jaya Bachchan said, &lsquo;No, sir. I&rsquo;m very proud. I&rsquo;m very proud of my name and my husband and his achievements. It signifies abha Jo mit nahi sakti. So, don&rsquo;t worry. Ye drama aap logo ne naya shuru kiya hai &ndash; yeh pehle nahi tha (This is a new drama).&rsquo;
Earlier, in a heated exchange in the Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan objected to Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh referring to her as &lsquo;Shrimati Jaya Amitabh Bachchan.&rsquo;
She asserted that her identity is independent of her husband&rsquo;s name. When Harivansh called on her to speak, Jaya responded, &lsquo;Sir, sirf Jaya Bachchan bolte to kaafi hojata" (It would have been enough to call me Jaya Bachchan).&rsquo; Upon being informed that her name is officially registered that way, she criticized the practice.
Jaya Bachchan, an influential figure in both cinema and politics, married megastar Amitabh Bachchan on June 3, 1973. The couple has two children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan.

Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan recently spoke about the pay parity issues existing in different fields. In the latest episode of Navya Naveli Nanda&rsquo;s podcast &lsquo;What The Hell Navya&rsquo;, she talked about how the issue of pay parity exists and cited examples of athletes.&nbsp;
 Navya said, &lsquo;In sports, female athletes are not paid as much as male athletes. It has happened in NBA and Tennis.&rsquo; Her mother Shweta Bachchan reacted to it and termed these practices &lsquo;extremely unfair&rsquo;. She mentioned that this problem is surviving because people are not standing up against it.&nbsp;
 Actor Jaya Bachchan too expressed her thoughts on the topic and said that the reason behind pay disparity is insecurity in men. She told, &lsquo;It is the insecurity of a man who is sitting at the head of it. He is insecure, which is why he feels it is easier to put a woman down - in every field and in every way. It is an outcome of that kind of mindset.
 &lsquo;For centuries women have never stood up for themselves. There are exceptions, but now it's changing the younger generation it's changing and it's also because mothers are realising that my daughter and my son are as good as each other,&rsquo; Jaya further added.
 Jaya further mentioned, &lsquo;Educated women also have double standards, which is so sad. Sometimes I want to say it but do not feel good about saying it, but sometimes women are their own enemies. Of course, it's also the father's responsibility.&rsquo;

Karan Johar has finally announced the new release date of 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', which marks his return as a director after seven years. The Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer will hit the theatres on April 28 next year.&nbsp; &nbsp; KJo took to Instagram to share the release date, which is on 28th April, 2023. Prior to that, he penned a poem describing the film and its star cast.
