Jharkhand&rsquo;s JMM-led coalition government headed by Chief Minister Champai Soren won the vote of confidence in the assembly on Monday.
While 47 MLAs voted in favour of the confidence motion, 29 legislators opposed it in the 81-member assembly. Independent legislator Saryu Roy abstained.
Seventy-seven MLAs were present in the assembly during the voting.
The ruling alliance comprises the JMM, Congress and the RJD while it is supported from outside by the lone CPIML(L) legislator.
The BJP-led opposition has 26 legislators of the saffron party and three of the AJSU Party.
JMM legislature party leader Champai Soren took oath as the chief minister of Jharkhand on February 2, after his predecessor Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last week in a money laundering case.
Champai Soren was given 10 days to prove his government&rsquo;s majority on the floor of the house. He decided that the trust vote will be held on February 5.
Hemant Soren, who is in ED custody now, took part in the trust vote following permission granted by a special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court.
About 38 legislators of the ruling alliance had gone to Hyderabad, the capital of Congress-ruled Telangana, in two flights on February 2, amid the coalition's fears that the BJP might attempt to "poach" them in the run-up to the trust vote. They returned to Ranchi on Sunday evening ahead of the trust vote.&nbsp;

Ruptures are being witnessed in the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party ahead of the floor test after one of its senior leaders threatened to quit the Shibu Soren's party.
According to Times of India, veteran JMM leader Lobin Hembrom on Friday expressed disappointment with the JMM leadership for failing to fulfill its promises on tribal land rights.
However, he is yet to tender his resignation, with speculations running that it might be a pressure tactic ahead of the floor test on February 5.
NDTV, quoting sources, has said that a JMM MLA has gone off the grid and is likely to skip the floor test on February 5.&nbsp;
The JMM has claimed the support of 47 MLAs and is making every effort to safeguard its legislators from the poaching attempts of the BJP.&nbsp;
The JMM has 28 MLAs, Congress has 16, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Communist Party of India (ML) each have one MLA.
The BJP and its allies have 29 MLAs.
A party needs the support of 41 MLAs to cross a majority in the 81-member assembly. As one of the 81 seats is vacant, the majority mark of 41 will be counted for 80 seats.
The ruling alliance in Jharkhand has five more MLAs than the majority mark.

Former chief minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren was granted permission to participate in trust vote in state assembly.&nbsp;

A special court in Ranchi on Saturday allowed former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren to participate in the trust vote in the state assembly on February 5.
Soren, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday in a money laundering case, filed a petition before the special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court, seeking permission to participate in the trust vote sought by the new government.
He was remanded to ED custody for five days by the court on Friday.
Soren pleaded before the court that he is a member of the assembly and has a right to participate in the special session.
"Applicant (Soren) is, therefore, filing the present Application seeking an order from this Hon'ble Court to permit the Applicant to attend the Special Session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly and participate in the proceedings of the Floor Test slated for February 5 at 11 AM," the petition said.
The new government led by Champai Soren has earlier sought the floor test to prove its majority in the House. He took over as the chief minister after Hemant Soren was arrested.
Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan told PTI that the ED vehemently objected to the petition.
"We said now the cat is out of the bag, and the purpose of the ED is not to do any investigation but to scuttle the formation of a new government or to bring down the government. They have no business to object to proceedings of the assembly when he is not interfering with the investigation. Therefore, the court has accepted our petition and our petition has been allowed," he said.
Meanwhile the special PMLA court did not allow Hemant Soren to stay in jail at night on security concerns.
Advocate General Singh said "stay (night stay in jail) has not been allowed...".
Hemant Soren had also moved the Supreme Court, challenging his arrest. The top court on Friday refused to interfere with his arrest and asked him to approach the high court.
The alliance, between the JMM, Congress and RJD, has 47 MLAs in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly and is supported from outside by the lone CPIML (L) legislator.&nbsp;
