&nbsp;Russia's Supreme Court on Thursday effectively outlawed LGBTQ+ activism, in the most drastic step against advocates of gay, lesbian and transgender rights in the increasingly conservative country.
In a statement announcing a lawsuit filed to the court earlier this month, the Justice Ministry argued that authorities had identified &ldquo;signs and manifestations of an extremist nature&rdquo; by an LGBTQ+ &ldquo;movement&rdquo; operating in Russia, including &ldquo;incitement of social and religious discord,&rdquo; although it offered no details or evidence. In its ruling, the court declared the &ldquo;movement&rdquo; to be extremist and banned it in Russia.
The hearing took place behind closed doors and with no defendant. Multiple rights activists have pointed out that the lawsuit targeted the &ldquo;international civic LGBT movement,&rdquo; which is not an entity but rather a broad and vague definition that would allow Russian authorities to crack down on any individuals or groups deemed to be part of the &ldquo;movement.&rdquo; &ldquo;Despite the fact that the Justice Ministry demands to label a nonexistent organization -- the international civic LGBT movement' -- extremist, in practice it could happen that the Russian authorities, with this court ruling at hand, will enforce it against LGBTQ+ initiatives that work in Russia, considering them a part of this civic movement,&rdquo; Max Olenichev, human rights lawyer who works with the Russian LGBTQ+ community, told The Associated Press ahead of the hearing.
Some LGBTQ+ activists have said they sought to become a party to the lawsuit, arguing that it concerns their rights, but were rejected by the court. The Justice Ministry has not responded to a request for comment on the lawsuit.&nbsp;

Another finalist, 25-year-old software developer Abhishek Jayadeep from Thrissur, Kerala, received the title of Mr Gay Kerala.
Abhishek, who recently came out to his family, highlighted the societal stigma faced by LGBTQ+ individuals.
The event's chief guest, Manvendra Singh Gohil, India's first openly gay prince, emphasized the significance of such platforms in elevating the Indian LGBTQ+ community globally.
Organized by the Pune-based MIST Foundation, founded by Shyam Konnur, Mr Gay India 2020, the event was conducted online over nearly a month.
Konnur, unable to participate in international rounds due to the pandemic, aimed to ensure the pageant's accessibility.
Lesbian activist and corporate professional Ankita Mehra stressed the need for equitable representation within the community, underscoring the importance of addressing disparities in visibility among different LGBTQ+ identities.

Kishida said the remarks run counter to the administration's position on promoting diversity.
&ldquo;Taking strong action is inevitable,&rdquo; Kishida said without providing further details, meaning Arai may leave voluntarily.

The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud has reiterated its November 11, 2021 recommendation for appointment of senior advocate Saurabh Kirpal as a judge of the Delhi High Court.
The Collegium, which also comprised Justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph, said the proposal for Kirpal's appointment as a judge of the high court is pending for over five years and it needs to be processed expeditiously.
"In this backdrop, the Collegium resolves to reiterate its recommendation dated 11 November, 2021 for appointment of Shri Saurabh Kirpal as a Judge of the Delhi High Court which needs to be processed expeditiously," said a statement uploaded on the apex court website.
"The recommendation unanimously made by the Collegium of the Delhi High Court on October 13, 2017 and approved by the Supreme Court Collegium on November 11, 2021 has been referred back to us on November 25, 2022 for reconsideration in light of the observations made in the file," it noted.
The statement said Kirpal possesses "competence, integrity and intellect" and his appointment will add value to the bench of the Delhi High Court and provide inclusion and diversity.
Kirpal is the son of B N Kirpal, a former Chief Justice of India.

Under the law, drawn up by the centre-left coalition government, minors aged 12 or 13 will need a judge's authorisation to make the change, while those between 14 and 16 will have to be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
The law also bans so-called conversion therapies to suppress sexual orientation or gender identity, establishes fines and punishments for attacks on LGBT people and overturns a ban that prevented lesbian couples from registering their children under both parents' names.
Up to now, transgender people needed a diagnosis by several doctors of gender dysphoria, which is the psychological condition of not feeling a match between one's biological sex and gender identity.

In some cases, they also needed proof they had been living for two years as the gender they identified with &mdash; or even records showing they had taken hormones.

To cushion the impact its stand, FIFA started its &lsquo;No Discrimination&rsquo; campaign from the group stages itself. It was originally meant to start from the quarter finals.&nbsp;
The top football governing body said messaging opportunities for the campaign would be provided to the participating teams via captains&rsquo; armbands. It added that captains must wear the armbands provided by FIFA.

Former CEO of Lloyd’s of London and the company’s first female CEO, Inga Beale, is openly bisexual. She came out first as a bisexual, in an interview in 2008 and since then has made efforts to bring diversity and inclusion at the forefront in her company. “It’s not about me. It’s about what you do for other people. For me, it’s so important because you need these role models.” 
She worked for change in her own company, helping launch LGBTQ employee resource group Pride@Lloyd's. For her accomplishments, the Queen named her Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2017. 
Alan Joyce The openly-gay chief executive of Australia’s biggest airline, Qantas has been named the world’s second most powerful LGBT corporate executives. Joyce became the CEO of Qantas in 2008 but publicly announced his sexual orientation to the media in 2012. Joyce, 51, has been a vocal supporter of the campaign to legalise same-sex marriage in Australia. He supports same-sex marriage and believes that it is critical to make people recognize that they know LGBT people. 
Peter Thiel served as the CEO of PayPal from its inception to its sale to eBay in October 2002. Thiel’s sexuality came out in 2007 when Gawker Media outed him in a blog post. He became the first openly gay speaker at Republican National Convention and delivered a speech on sexuality. Thiel has proven himself as a staunch supporter of LGBT rights mainly for HomoCon, the American Foundation for Equal Rights, and GOProud.
Joel Simkhai With the birth of dating apps for straight individuals, Simkhai launched the thriving dating app for gay men Grindr in 2008. He has also used the platform to express his strong advocacy for LGBT rights and raise proceeds for the community’s causes prior to the app’s acquisition by Chinese company Kunlun in 2018.

She has made waves by transforming a conservative institution, as well as the wider industry, into a more inclusive and welcoming environment. She was named to the UK Government&rsquo;s 2017 New Year&rsquo;s Honors list, for her contribution to the economy and her support of diversity Beale maintains "It&rsquo;s not about me. Jake in a statement said, "This season has been a fantastic one for me on the pitch.&nbsp;But off the pitch I've been hiding the real me and who I really am. I've known my whole life that I'm gay, and I now feel that I'm ready to come out and be myself."
While women's football has several &nbsp;LGBTQ+ players, the men's game lacks players who are publicly gay. Daniels said he was inspired by Josh Cavallo of Australian football team Adelaide United who is the only openly gay man currently playing in a top division football team across the world.&nbsp;
While the move attracted a lot of trolls on social media, the English Football Association or the FA came out in support of the 17-year-old, &ldquo;This is a hugely positive step as we strive to build an inclusive game that we can all be proud of,&rdquo; the governing body tweeted. Jake's teammates&nbsp;at Blackpool are also backing the footballer and have promised to continue their support for the young star.&nbsp;&nbsp;
