The Maharashtra government on Thursday&nbsp; extended&nbsp;the current restrictions put in place to curb the spread of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.editorji.com/covid-19" target="_blank">Covid-19 cases</a>.&nbsp;The restrictions will now be in place till 7 am on June 1, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte said in an order.
The government&nbsp;has made it mandatory to carry negative RT-PCR report for entering the state.&nbsp;This rule was earlier applicable only to the travellers coming in from the states marked as sensitive origin. The rule has been now been extended for people coming into the state from any part of the country.
Maharashtra reported 46,781 new cases and 816 deaths on Wednesday.&nbsp;The positivity rate has fallen to 17.36 per cent while the fatality rate is down to 1.49 per cent, the health department said.

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has directed his administration to draw a roadmap for a potential lockdown in the state with an uprising of coronavirus cases. However, the foreseen decision has run into opposition among his allies as well as the BJP. With the consideration of complete lockdown in Maharashtra, NCP, BJP and even industrialist,&nbsp;Anand Mahindra raised objections. In a meeting with the Covid task force on Sunday, the CM said a Standard Operating Procedure must be kept ready to guide the state in the event another lockdown became necessary. The decision is being considered due to a spike in cases and because of the rules not followed by the public. Senior officials said a review of the situation is likely on April 2 and a decision could be taken then.
