Unlike traditional manicures, where cuticles are often pushed back or cut using tools, Russian manicure involves gentle filing, which is believed to create a more natural and neat appearance. Additionally, it is thought to be less damaging to the nails than the traditional methods.
However, experts said that the electric file used in Russian manicures can be damaging if not handled correctly. Over-filing can weaken the nails, making them vulnerable to breakage and other issues and thus this manicure is being termed dangerous.

It has been found by the British Association of Dermatologists that the chemicals used for manis like Methacrylate commonly found in acrylic gel nail paints might cause skin infection all over the body, make your nails brittle or might cause breathing trouble for some. &nbsp;
A 2018 study had also estimated that 2.4% of people suffer from allergies due to chemicals used in acrylic and gel-based manicure products.&nbsp; So, experts advise avoiding acrylic and gel manicures and opting for chemical free nail paints and also avoid buying DIY manicure kits.&nbsp;
