A lookout notice has been issued against Punjab's former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, who has been accused of using his position to buy plots in Bathinda.

A lookout notice has been issued against Punjab's former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, who has been booked over alleged irregularities in the purchase of plots in Bathinda.
Three persons have been arrested in the case so far.
Punjab Vigilance Bureau has said that Badal, who joined the BJP after leaving Congress, abused his position to purchase two plots at a prime location in Bathinda, causing a financial loss of lakhs of rupees to the state exchequer.
The vigilance bureau had launched an investigation into the matter based on former MLA Sarup Chand Singla&rsquo;s 2021 complaint alleging irregularities in the purchase of the property at a prime location in Bathinda.
BJP leader Singla, who was earlier with the Shiromani Akali Dal, had alleged that Badal, as a minister in the previous Congress dispensation, had abused his position to convert two commercial plots into a residential plot for himself.
The case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery), and also under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal joined the BJP Wednesday and slammed the Congress, which he quit before starting his new political innings, for factionalism.
The Congress took a swipe at the former Punjab finance minister, saying "clouds (badal) over the Punjab Congress have cleared".
The five-time MLA lauded the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, saying India has emerged strong, including diplomatically and economically, under their nearly nine-year rule.
Voicing concern over the state of affairs in Punjab, he said the state is "slipping" and the BJP is the only party which can meet the challenges facing it.
On his decision to quit the Congress, he said how can one operate in a party which is at "war with itself". "Not only in Punjab but in many states, the party is full of factions," Badal said.
In his resignation letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Badal claimed that far from being acknowledged or appreciated for his efforts to garner funds for the state exchequer, he was "vilified" in the Punjab Congress "for failing to display what can only be described as fiscal recklessness".
