Despite missing out on Cricket Australia’s central contract for the 2024-25 season, Marcus Stoinis wants to use the impact hundred against CSK as leverage to extend his white-ball career beyond the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Stoinis, who was not included in the 23-player central contract list, made an unbeaten 124 off 63 balls for Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday.

Despite missing out on Cricket Australia&rsquo;s central contract for the 2024-25 season, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis wants to use the impact hundred against Chennai Super Kings as leverage to extend his white-ball career beyond the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Stoinis, who was not included in the 23-player central contract list, made an unbeaten 124 off 63 balls for Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday.
However, Stoinis didn&rsquo;t read much into his missing the CA contract which was announced on March 28.
&ldquo;I've got a great relationship with the (Australia) coach (Andrew McDonald). Me not getting a contract, I knew that a while ago.
&ldquo;I think it is great to give younger kids a crack and let them take my spot. I'm absolutely fine with that on the contract list,&rdquo; Stoinis said after guiding LSG to a six-wicket win over CSK.
But the 34-year-old was firm in thoughts about his career with the national team.
&ldquo;But on the playing front, obviously, I want to make sure that I'm there and that's also why it's so lucky for us and for me particularly to have this competition (IPL), that's why I love it so much,&rdquo; he said.
The Perth-born player was omitted from Australia&rsquo;s ODIs against the West Indies in January, but he is set to be part of the country&rsquo;s T20I World Cup campaign in the West Indies and the USA in June.
Stoinis is most likely to be slotted into No. 5 in the Australian line-up during the marquee event.
Stoinis is eligible for Australian selection for the tournament because his current contract for the 2023-24 season will run its course only on June 30.
However, Stoinis was clear that he wanted to play for Australia in the white ball series against England (away) in September and against Pakistan at home in November.
Stoinis along with Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye and Jason Behrendorff had recently decided to go freelance while turning down Western Australian contracts.

The way CSK, put us under pressure with the ball and I didn't think it was probably our best night execution wise, but, we needed someone to stand up, in our batting innings,' Vogue said.&nbsp; He was all-praise for the Australian all-rounder, 'And Marcus Stoinis has played an outstanding innings. But, I guess at the halfway stage, you could certainly feel the dew in the outfield. And, I certainly think it's played a part in the back end of the game. So, ended up being a good toss to win.'&nbsp;
Stoinis scored 124 not out off 63 balls as Lucknow put dewy conditions to good use to successfully chase down the highest IPL total at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

&ldquo;We wanted to be a lot braver as a team. We had three games, a couple at home, and some away where we couldn't go past 170. We needed one power hitter in the top three. That was the thought process.
&ldquo;I have also realised that T20 cricket has changed in the last couple of years &ndash; 170-180 does not always cut it. You have to go harder in the powerplay.
&ldquo;The Impact player gives you depth and that gives you more freedom. I have not played T20 cricket in a long time.&rdquo; Asked if Nicholas Pooran can play up the order, the skipper said save him and Quinton de Kock as openers, none of the other positions are fixed.
&ldquo;There is no set plan. Apart from the openers everyone is set to go at any point. The last game, Pooran walked in at three. Hope I get the fielder of the award.&rdquo; CSK skipper Gaikwad, whose century went in vain felt that dew played a big role towards the latter half of the match.

Interestingly, it is now the biggest individual score at the Chepauk in the history of the IPL and the highest-successful run-chase at this ground.
Nicholas Pooran too chipped in with a 15-ball-34 as CSK lost their first home game this season. Interestingly, the Super Kings have managed to beat LSG just once in 5 meetings in the IPL so far.
While Lucknow has now won 2 consecutive games, CSK have lost 2 in a row with a couple of home games left.

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis has become the first centrally-contracted Australian cricketer to sign up for UAE's T20 league - the ILT20.
The 33-year-old, who is currently playing the Big Bash League for the Melbourne Stars, will join Sharjah Warriors for the month-long tournament that starts on January 13.

Delhi Capitals stole a nail-biting win in the North Indian derby as Kings XI Punjab couldn't score 1 run in the final 3 balls. Put into bat, Delhi were off to a disastrous start and were reduced to 96/6. But Marcus Stoinis went berserk with a 21-ball-53, as 30 runs of the final over powered Delhi to 157/8.&nbsp;After a steady start to their run-chase, Punjab lost 4 wickets for just 5 runs and went from being 30 for no loss to 35/4. They kept losing their way before Mayank Agarwal turned the tide against the Capitals and brought Punjab to the brink of victory with a brilliant 60-ball-89.
