Alto K10 VXI Petrol: ₹6,000 Price Cut In a regulatory filing, the company informed the stock exchanges that it is reducing the price of its Alto K10 VXI Petrol variant by ₹6,000. According to car search website Cardekho, the on-road price of this variant of Alto K10 in Delhi currently stands at around ₹5,60,000. S-Presso LXI Petrol: ₹2,000 Price Cut Maruti Suzuki has also reduced the price of S-Presso LXI Petrol variant by ₹2,000. This car, according to Cardekho, currently has an on-road price of ₹5,49,951 in Delhi. Auto Sales In The Slow Lane The price cut announcement comes at a time when auto sales have hit a speed bump. Maruti Suzuki, the Indian arm of Japanese auto giant Suzuki, saw its total domestic passenger vehicle wholesales drop eight percent in August. Maruti&rsquo;s August 2024 wholesale dispatches dropped to 1,43,075 units compared to 1,56,114 units in the year-ago month. Sales in the mini segment, comprising Alto and S-Presso, dropped to 10,648 units last month versus 12,209 units in August 2023. 
Production Adjustment Plan As sales enter a rough patch, Maruti Suzuki is also planning to adjust its production. Last month Maruti&rsquo;s parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) told analysts, &ldquo;We are currently adjusting production to reduce market stock and are closely monitoring demand trends. India will be in a critical period with the upcoming festival season, so we will closely monitor demand trends.&rdquo;
Auto Sector Challenges
It&rsquo;s not only Maruti Suzuki that&rsquo;s facing the slowdown in sales. Other car makers such as Hyundai and Tata Motors have also reported decline in wholesales in August.Korean auto giant Hyundai reported an 8 per cent dip in domestic dispatches in India last month at 49,525 units, from 53,830 units in the year-ago period. Similarly, Tata Motors reported a 3 per cent dip in passenger vehicle wholesales at 44,142 units last month as compared to 45,513 units in the year-ago month.

Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it has hiked the price of its hatchback Swift by up to Rs 25,000 along with an increase on a select variant of SUV Grand Vitara.
The prices of Swift have been raised by up to Rs 25,000, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing.
Similarly, the price of the Sigma variant of Grand Vitara has been increased by Rs 19,000, the company said.
Now, Swift is available at a price range of Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 8.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Sigma variant of Grand Vitara is priced at Rs 10.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), as per the company's website.
The price hikes are effective April 10, 2024, the company said.&nbsp;

Maruti Suzuki India's market valuation went past the Rs 4 lakh crore mark in intra-day trade on Wednesday, helped by a rally in the stock which reached a new peak.
Shares of the company climbed 2.40 per cent to settle at Rs 12,550 apiece on the BSE. During the day, it jumped 3.82 per cent to reach a record high of Rs 12,724.95.
On the NSE, the automaker's stock advanced 2.52 per cent to Rs 12,560 per share.
During the day, the company's market valuation jumped to Rs 4,00,075.70 crore mark. At the close of trade, the company's market capitalisation (mcap) remained at Rs 3,94,575.23 crore.
In the broader equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 526.01 points or 0.73 per cent to settle at 72,996.31. The NSE Nifty went up by 118.95 points or 0.54 per cent to 22,123.65.
The stock was the second biggest gainer among the Sensex and Nifty firms after Reliance Industries.
The company is at the 14th rank in terms of most valued companies by market capitalisation.

We've been evaluating the impact of commodity price fluctuations on our costs, attempting to reduce expenses internally before considering price adjustments as a final measure."

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Automotive Division at Mahindra and Mahindra, stated, "We plan to raise prices for our automotive products starting January 2024," without specifying the details at this time.

Maruti's Suzuki Alto has become India's highest-selling car with over 45 lakh units sold in over 2 decades.
The Alto line-up has also introduced features like electronic power steering, front power windows, Auto Gear Shift (AGS) option, Dual Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and factory-fitted CNG systems, in the entry-level hatchback market.
The Alto was introduced in India back in the year 2000. In 2010, Maruti launched the Alto K10 and Alto CNG. By 2012, the carmaker had sold over 20 lakh units of the hatchback.
Maruti Suzuki rolled out the Alto 800 in the year 2012, followed by the second-generation Alto K10 two years later. In 2016, the carmaker celebrated 30 lakh sales of the Alto. Sales surpassed the 40 lakh unit mark in 2020.
Last year, the company introduced the third-generation Alto K10 in the Indian market. The car is available with a 796cc, 3-cylinder engine that puts out 47 BHP and 69 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and also comes with a factory-fitted CNG option.
The Alto K10 is powered by a 998cc engine that puts out 66 BHP and 89 Nm and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The K10 also gets a CNG option.

Maruti Suzuki has terminated the contract manufacturing deal with Suzuki Motors Gujarat to streamline the production activity by bringing all manufacturing-related activities in the country under one entity&nbsp;

Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said it will acquire the Gujarat-based production facility of its parent firm Suzuki Motor Corporation to reduce complexity and bring all manufacturing-related activities in the country under one entity.
India's largest passenger vehicle maker, which saw its consolidated net profit jump over two-fold to Rs 2,525 crore in the April-June quarter riding on better realisation from the sale of bigger cars, said its board has approved the termination of the contract manufacturing agreement with Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese Suzuki Motor Corp (SMC).
Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) supplies its entire production exclusively to Maruti Suzuki India.
The company's board also approved to exercise the option to acquire SMG stake from SMC subject to all legal and regulatory compliances including minority shareholders' approval.
SMG, which was incorporated in 2014, currently has a production facility in Gujarat with an installed capacity of 7.5 lakh units per annum.
In a virtual press conference, MSI Chairman RC Bhargava said the arrangement worked well for the last 8-9 years but with changes in the overall industry dynamics, it was important for the company to come up with changes to steer growth in the next decade.
He noted that the company is now moving towards 40 lakh production capacity by 2030-31 in order to cater to the enhanced demand for its products in the market.
Bhargava said the company is also looking at various alternative technologies, including the roll-out of its first battery electric vehicle in 2024-25.
"Because of all this the issue of co-ordinating production, distribution and spare parts becomes more complex," Bhargava said.
With an enhanced model portfolio, the company has come to a conclusion that it has to come up with arrangements that would be beneficial for the company in the next ten years, he noted.
"So Maruti, SMG, and Suzuki Japan discussed this matter and came to a conclusion that it would be better for Maruti Suzuki if we could now ensure that all the production and production-related activities of any kind are brought under a single management," Bhargava said.
He noted that the arrangement would have no impact on the customer as well as the shareholders.
When asked about the expected purchase amount, Bhargava said: "At this stage, we can only say that the contract manufacturing agreement provides that Maruti will acquire shares at the book value of SMC. That book value last known was at around Rs 12,000 crore.
The auto major expects to complete the transaction by March 31, 2024, he said.
The mode of acquisition including consideration to be paid to SMC shall be decided in a subsequent board meeting.
SMG was incorporated on March 31, 2014.
Initially, the Gujarat plant was proposed to be owned by MSI but the plan was changed later with SMC announcing that it would invest USD 488 million to build the plant.
The plan was opposed by the institutional investors forcing the company to seek minority shareholders approval on the matter.
MSI's revenue from operations increased to Rs 32,338 crore in the April-June quarter from Rs 26,512 crore in the year-ago period.
The automaker said it sold a total of 4,98,030 vehicles in the first quarter, up 6.4 per cent, as compared with the same period of the previous year.
Sales in the domestic market stood at 4,34,812 units, up by 9.1 per cent over that in the first quarter of the 2022-23 fiscal. Exports stood at 63,218 units in the April-June quarter, as compared with 69,437 units in the year-ago period.
MSI noted that a shortage of electronic components in the first quarter resulted in a production loss of over 28,000 vehicles.
Bhargava noted that the chip crisis is abating and the company does not expect to face serious problems going forward for the rest of the year.
The company's pending customer orders stood at about 3,55,000 units at the end of the first quarter.

Maruti Suzuki's Chairman RC Bhargava had told The Economic Times, that the automaker has received approval to increase the capacity by up to one million units at Kharkhoda. He further said that Maruti Suzuki has also received an in-principle approval for another one million units at a new site. The phasing of projects and timelines for commissioning the assembly lines will depend on business requirements. Bhargava also mentioned that work on the new facility will be done simultaneously with the one at Kharkhoda

Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it is recalling 17,362 units of models like Alto K10, Brezza and Baleno to inspect and replace a faulty airbag controller.
The affected models are Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara, manufactured between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023, the country's largest carmaker said in a regulatory filing.
"The recall is being undertaken to inspect and replace Airbag Controller free of cost, if required in these vehicles," it added.
It is suspected that there is a possible defect in the affected part, which in rare cases might result in non-deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners in the event of a vehicle crash, the auto major stated.
"Out of abundant caution, customers of the suspected vehicles are advised not to drive or use the vehicle till the affected part is replaced," it said.
Affected vehicle owners will be receiving communication from Maruti Suzuki authorised workshops for immediate attention, it noted.

The MOU was signed on March 19, 2022 at India-Japan Economic Forum held in New Delhi, in the presence of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President, Suzuki Motor Corporation and Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director &amp; CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited were joined by eminent senior government personnel of India and Japan at the ceremony. Speaking at the Forum, Toshihiro Suzuki said, &ldquo;Suzuki's future mission is to achieve carbon neutrality with small cars.&rdquo; He added, &ldquo;We will continue active investment in India to realize Self-reliant India (Atma-nirbhar Bharat).&rdquo;

The dual-tone body colour is a first for the hatchback and it also now comes with alloy wheels in the top-end variant. There are two new dual-tone colours on the ZXi+ variant Gallant Red with Black roof and Magma Grey with Black roof. Inside, the new WagonR continues with the dual-tone theme. It continues to get the 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, which has been updated with cloud-based services to offer app-based connected car features. Mechanically, the car remains the same with the 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engines on offer. Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG comes with a detuned 1.0-litre dual-jet engine with dual VVT (variable valve timing). This powerplant puts out 56 bhp with 82 Nm and can be had with a five-speed manual gearbox only. In comparison to this, Celerio petrol has 66 bhp with 89 Nm. This means that Celerio CNG is less powerful than its petrol-only counterpart though it&nbsp;costs Rs 95,000 more than the Celerio VXi petrol manual.

Maruti's&nbsp;own Alto 800, one of the top fuel-efficient cars in India, claims to have a 22 kmpl&nbsp;of mileage. The car comes with an ex-showroom price range of Rs 3.15 to 4.82 lakh. However, the new Celerio&nbsp;2021&nbsp;is priced at Rs 4.99&nbsp;lakh (ex-showroom) and delivers a mileage of 26 kmpl, as claimed by the company. The previous models are available at&nbsp;₹4.66 lakh to&nbsp;₹6.1 lakh (ex-showroom).

Celerio will feature new touchscreen console, push button start/stop, auto engine start/stop, multi-function steering wheel, etc to match the young buyers' aspirations.
Talking about the style, the 2021 Celerio gets a new grille with a chrome bar extending across its length all the way to the new swept-back headlamps. The interior comes in all-black theme, faux aluminum accents across the cabin, vertical AC vents, etc.&nbsp;
For safety, Celerio will come equipped with two front air bags, ABS, and reversing sensor with camera on the console panel. The car also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
