Mehul Choksi schemed, bribed senior Antigua cop to delay extradition: report

He said that Choksi has been scheming to illegally extend the court process in Antigua, by paying bribes to government officials, including senior Antigua police official, Adonis Henry.

One of India's most wanted fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi has been buying protection in Antigua by bribing a string of officials according to investigations conducted by Kenneth Rijock, a renowned financial crimes investigator. Rijock made shocking revelations in a news article on Blogger against Mehul Choksi's bribery and conspiracy in Antigua, where officials are interfering with Interpol's efforts to detain him for extradition to India.
He said that Choksi has been scheming to illegally extend the court process in Antigua, by paying bribes to government officials, including senior Antigua police official, Adonis Henry.
Multiple witnesses report that Choksi and Inspector Henry have been meeting at least three times a day at Al Porto, a Jolly Harbor restaurant reportedly owned by Choksi, wrote Rijock in his financial crime blog. Choksi not only reached out to Henry but also tried to influence Antigua magistrate Conliffe Clarke through illegal payments.

Choksi has corruptly influenced Clarke, through illegal payments, made purely for dilatory purposes, to indefinitely delay his pending extradition, wrote Rijock in his blog post.

The Dominican High Court on Saturday&nbsp;denied bail to the fugitive diamantaire,&nbsp;Mehul&nbsp;Choksi. The court said that Choksi&nbsp;has no ties with Dominica and the court cannot impose any conditions which will assure it that he would not abscond. The court highlighted&nbsp;that Choksi&nbsp;wants to live with his brother&nbsp;in a hotel, which is not a fixed hotel, and added that the trial has not started yet.&nbsp;While Choksi's&nbsp;lawyer argued for bail on medical grounds, the court said that he did not provide any strong surety and is a flight risk as well.&nbsp;Choksi&nbsp;who is one of the main accused in the ₹13,500 PNB&nbsp;scam, has got interim relief from immediate repatriation to India by the Dominican Court.&nbsp;

Barbara Jabarica, in an exclusive interview to ANI categorically denied being romantically involved with fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi. In earlier interviews she had revealed that Choksoi flirted with her when they met last and had gifted her diamonds which she later found were fake.
She however admitted meeting Choksi for breakfast the day he was allegedly kidnapped from Antigoa but shad left for the airport and was on the other side of the island on that day.
Choksi has been charged with illegal entry by the police in Dominica after he allegedly escaped from Antigua and Barbuda in a possible attempt to evade extradition to India.
Choksi's plan to escape to Cuba was also revealed by his alleged girlfriend Jabarica, Barbara said that Choksi had told her that they would meet in Cuba next time. She also said though he did not use words like escape or shared his plans he gave enough hints for her to conclude that there was &lsquo;something he was planning for a later stage&rsquo;
Choksi has alleged that Barbara did not attempt to help him while he was being beaten up and placed on a small watercraft while being kidnapped. He said the manner in which she conducted herself clearly pointed out that &lsquo;she was an integral part of this entire scheme &lsquo;
Choksi and his lawyers have filed a complaint against Barbara for abduction and torture. They have also accused her of conniving with Indian origin men. She has rejected the allegations of any such connections.
