Persistent rain in Melbourne washed out the double-header in the T20 World Cup on Friday, without even the toss taking place due to the downpours at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The much-awaited clash between traditional rivals Australia &amp; England was abandoned due to the poor weather. While there was a dry period of 90 minutes which gave hopes of a curtailed encounter, the rain gods intervened once again, leaving the umpires with no other option but to call it off.
Earlier in the day, even the Afghanistan-Ireland game was called off due to the inclement weather. It was the second game in a row for the Blue Tigers where they had to settle for a point due to the incessant downpour.

A special street-art mural consisting of portraits of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya at Higson Lane in Melbourne was created by fans.

The official Twitter handle of the city of Melbourne uploaded a special video where the city is gearing up for the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan. In a special gesture, the city decided to prepare a mural featuring a few Indian stars.
The mural consists of portraits of the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, former captain Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, as fans from all around came together to put together a special tribute. The video also shows the art of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where the match is scheduled to take place.&nbsp;
The artwork is located in the Higson Lane area of the city.
