&ldquo;We suspect he was in Nagpur at the time of the violence. He is a resident of Hasanbaug in Nagpur and had come to Dadar just a few days ago. Rahman, a daily wage labourer, has admitted to obtaining an Aadhaar card using forged documents,&rdquo; the official said on Thursday.
&ldquo;We are analysing his mobile phone tower location as part of the probe. We have also shared information about his arrest with our Nagpur counterparts,&rdquo; he said.

The incident occurred on Monday when the vehicle she was traveling in, along with her sister and nephew, collided with a truck.
Despite the severity of the accident, Sonali Sood is reported to be in stable condition and is currently under observation at Nagpur's MAX Hospital.
Her nephew also remains under observation, while her sister escaped with minor injuries and is considered out of danger.

Rege, who turned 76 last Sunday, was admitted in the intensive care unit of the Breach Candy Hospital here and passed away around 6am on Wednesday morning. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
The all-rounder had suffered a heart attack at the age of 26 but returned to the cricket field and even captained Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
He played 52 First-Class matches between 1966-67 and 1977-78, taking 126 wickets with his right-arm off-break bowling. He also contributed with the bat, scoring 1,532 runs at an average of 23.56.
Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar recalled Rege's contribution in the early days of his career.
&ldquo;Sad to hear about Milind Rege Sir's passing. He was a true Mumbai cricketer with immense contributions to the city's cricket. He and other CCI members saw potential in me and asked me to play for CCI, which, as I look back now, was a landmark moment in my career,&rdquo; Tendulkar wrote on 'X' in a tribute.
&ldquo;He could pick out a talented player from a sea of hardworking hopefuls. He had a special sixth sense to pick talent at all levels, but especially at junior levels.
&ldquo;He leaves behind a void, one that's tough to fill. He may not be around, but his imprint on people's lives will always live on. The Indian cricket board also conveyed its condolence message.

A childhood friend of former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, Rege attended the same school and college as Gavaskar and played alongside him at the Dadar Union Sporting Club.
As one of the most revered figures in Mumbai as well as domestic cricket, Rege held several roles through his career and was also associated with with the Mumbai Cricket Association as a cricket advisor.
The Mumbai cricket team, which is currently playing their Ranji Trophy semifinal against Vidarbha in Nagpur, took the field on the third day wearing black armbands to honour Rege.
"Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Milind Rege Sir. A stalwart of Mumbai cricket, his contributions as a player, selector, and mentor were invaluable," said MCA president Ajinkya Naik in a statement.

The deceased, a ward boy from BMC&rsquo;s BN Desai Hospital and a Wadala resident, had been in critical condition for several days before succumbing to the illness, as reported by Dr. Shailesh Mohite, Dean of Nair Hospital.
In related developments, a 16-year-old girl from Palghar is under observation at Nair Hospital after exhibiting GBS symptoms. The health department has reported that the number of suspected and confirmed GBS cases in Pune has increased to 197, with five new cases recently identified. Out of these, 172 have been confirmed as GBS cases. The case distribution includes 40 from Pune Municipal Corporation areas, 92 from newly added villages, 29 from Pimpri Chinchwad, 28 from Pune Rural, and eight from other districts.
In Pune, while 104 patients have been discharged, 50 remain in the ICU, and 20 are on ventilator support. The death toll in the Pune area stands at seven.
GBS is a rare neurological disorder where the immune system mistakenly targets peripheral nerves, causing muscle weakness and loss of sensation in the limbs, and in severe cases, swallowing and breathing difficulties. It is often triggered by infections such as Campylobacter jejuni, found in contaminated food and water. Although it can impact people of various ages, most recover fully with appropriate treatment.
In response to the GBS cases, the Maharashtra government has issued advisories, urging residents to drink boiled water, consume fresh food, and prevent cross-contamination between cooked and raw foods. Maintaining good hygiene and seeking prompt medical treatment for symptoms at government hospitals are also emphasized.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Thursday achieved a monumental milestone by securing the Guinness World Records title for the 'Largest Cricket Ball Sentence.'
This accomplishment was part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The record was set on the anniversary of the first-ever international match held at the stadium in 1975, when India faced the West Indies in a memorable Test match from January 23 to 29.

MCA dedicated this extraordinary feat to the late Eknath Solkar, who scored a century in that historic match, and to other departed Mumbai players who made significant contributions to the sport.
The MCA, known for its unwavering commitment to excellence, arranged 14,505 leather cricket balls on the Wankhede Stadium field to create the sentence: "Fifty Years of Wankhede Stadium."
The record-breaking arrangement was achieved in the presence of MCA President Ajinkya Naik, alongside office-bearers and Apex Council Members. The breakdown of the balls used for each word is as follows:

The MCA will donate the balls used in this record to aspiring cricketers from schools, clubs, and NGOs across the city, encouraging them to be inspired by this achievement and aim for even greater milestones in their cricketing careers.
"Mumbai cricket has contributed significantly to the sport and it holds a special place in cricket's history. The city has produced some of the greatest cricketers the world has ever seen. Wankhede Stadium is the pride of Mumbai and has witnessed countless historic moments. This Guinness World Records title is a reflection of Mumbai cricket's passion, legacy, and relentless pursuit of excellence. It is also a special tribute to all the players, officials, and unsung heroes who have contributed to Mumbai's cricketing legacy," said Ajinkya Naik, President of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
In addition to this achievement, the MCA had hosted a series of events earlier to commemorate the stadium's golden jubilee. These included honoring the captains of Mumbai&rsquo;s men's and women&rsquo;s teams, the members of the Mumbai team that played the first-ever first-class match at Wankhede Stadium in 1974, and former Elected Managing Committee members.
The Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai and the association&rsquo;s groundsmen were also felicitated, with a special Polly Umrigar Health Camp and lunch organized for them in recognition of their invaluable contributions.
The grand celebrations on January 19 were attended by cricket legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Diana Edulji, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane, in front of a packed stadium.
The evening also featured mesmerizing performances by Ajay-Atul and Avadhoot Gupte, followed by a stunning laser show that capped off the event.

Akshay Shinde, 24, was arrested in August for allegedly sexually assaulting two young girls at a Badlapur school. On September 24, he was killed during a police shootout while being transported to a remand hearing. Dr. Dange advised that rest is crucial due to wounds on Saif's back, which pose a risk of infection. "He is doing excellent. We made him walk. There was no problem or pain or any other symptoms.
Based on several parameters, including his injuries and wounds, he is deemed safe to be shifted out of the ICU. The only thing we have advised him is to take rest for some time, particularly because of the wounds on his back that could lead to infection," Dr. Dange stated.
He further elaborated that the injury to the actor's spine has been addressed, thereby necessitating restrictions on Saif's movements and visiting activities to aid in his recovery.
"He sustained wounds on his hand, and one on the neck, which underwent plastic surgery repair. I also operated on his spine where a sharp object was lodged and from where fluid was seeping. The repairs have been successful," Dange informed reporters.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have retrieved a portion of the blade removed from Saif's back and continue efforts to secure the remaining part. Police have detained an individual suspected to be connected to the assault on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence and are currently questioning him at Bandra police station. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. and prompted an immediate medical response.
After the attack, Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he was "out of danger" following an emergency surgery. His son, Ibrahim, quickly took him to the hospital at around 3 a.m. in an auto, while his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and sister-in-law, Karisma Kapoor, arrived shortly after.

Saif Ali Khan is now stable and in recovery. According to Dr. Uttamani, the actor has been moved to the ICU and is expected to be transferred to a regular ward in a day or two.

According to the documents issued by the Maharashtra Maritime Board concerning the boat, it had permission to carry 84 passengers and 6 crew members but the ferry was carrying over a hundred persons, a police official said.
Police have gathered all the documents related to the boat, he said.
A case has been registered against the Navy craft driver at the Colaba police station, the official said.
The BNS sections invoked in the FIR included those related to causing death by negligence, actions that endanger the personal safety or life of others, rash or negligent navigation of a vessel and acts of mischief that cause wrongful loss or damage to individuals or the public.
There were two German nationals and one Canadian on board &lsquo;Neel Kamal&rsquo; at the time of the mid-sea collision and they were safely rescued, he said.
Cops have so far recorded the statements of nine persons who were rescued by the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Mumbai police and CISF teams and identification of all the 13 bodies has been done, he said.
The accident-affected Naval craft is in the custody of the Indian Navy and police will demand it whenever needed for the investigation, he said.
Meanwhile, the mangled passenger ferry has been taken to &lsquo;Bhaucha Dhakka&rsquo; (a wharf near Dockyard Road) in south Mumbai, another official said.
Of the 113 persons on board both vessels, 13 died and 98, including two injured, were rescued. There were six persons on board the Navy craft, of which two survived, officials have said. Efforts are underway to trace two missing passengers, they have said.

Some survivors of the tragedy on Wednesday claimed the ferry did not have enough life jackets.

The ferry was carrying more than 100 passengers from the Gateway of India to the Elephanta Island.
Devidas Jadhav, an assistant boat inspector deputed at the Gateway of India, told PTI that they have made the use of life jackets mandatory for every passenger taking ferry boat to Mandva near Alibaug (in neighbouring Raigad), Elephanta Island or while going for a short ride of the Mumbai harbour.
Sangeeta Dalvi, who was travelling to Mandva with her husband for some work, said passengers must use life jackets as they can save lives in case of an emergency.
She also said there was no need for the people to be scared after Wednesday's accident.
"Such tragedies do not happen everyday. We do not avoid travelling by roads though everyday several accidents occur on roads," Dalvi added.
Suyesh Sharma, a tourist from Chhattisgarh who came to the Gateway of India to take a boat ride as he had time before his return by an evening flight, said life jackets does not prove much helpful in the high sea unless people know how to use them.
"Life jackets could prove helpful only when you know how to use them. Authorities should also tell people how to use them in case of emergency," said Sharma, who often takes up adventure sports like river rafting.
Boat owners from Bhaucha Dhakka (a wharf near the Dockyard Road here) said they insist that people wear life jackets, but passengers are reluctant many a times though they could prove life-saving in case of an emergency.
Ferry boats operate from Bhaucha Dhakka to trans-harbour locations like Uran and Revas in neighbouring Raigad district.
Boat owner Sameer Bamane said some passengers are reluctant to wear life jackets, citing the reason that they feel uncomfortable due to excessive heat and sweat during humid conditions.
"Tourists here do not want to wear the life jacket, but the same people use it without any complaint when they go to other countries like Singapore or Malaysia. It is because the authorities there do not allow a boat to move if even one person is without a life jacket," he said.

A local leader claimed that the speed boat belonged to the Navy, but there was no confirmation from the Navy on this.
The Navy and Coast Guard launched a massive rescue operation, with 11 Navy boats and three boats of Marine Police and a boat of Coast Guard being deployed in the area, a defence official said.
Four helicopters were involved in the search and rescue operation, the official said.
Personnel from police, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and fishermen in the area are also involved in the rescue work, the official said.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the state assembly in Nagpur that search is underway for seven to eight passengers who are yet to be traced.

Our team, along with building department staff, is actively clearing the rubble."

The visuals show passengers panicking as the electric vehicle (EV) ran amok, hitting vehicles and pedestrians on Monday night on a busy street in Kurla (west).&nbsp;
Some passengers tried to tightly hold on to the poles and grab handles, while others rose from their seats to fathom what was happening on the streets as the bus moved forward.
After the bus swerved to a halt, several passengers jumped out of the shattered windows.

The out-of-control electric bus operated by the civic-run Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking rammed into pedestrians and vehicles at around 9.30 pm on Monday on the SG Barve Marg in Kurla (West).
Besides killing seven persons and injuring 42 others, including four policemen on 'bandobast' duty, the accident also wrecked 22 vehicles.
The bus driver has been arrested for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and remanded in police custody till December 21.

Top officials of BEST and the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) held meetings on Wednesday with private operators who supply buses to government agencies under the wet lease model and affirmed to focus on driver training and taking extra safety steps.
BEST will also make breath analyser test mandatory for drivers in the wake of the Kurla crash.
At the meetings, the private operators were asked to provide details of training given to drivers, their appointment criteria, training infrastructure and modules, officials said.
Another meeting was held between senior BEST officials and the Maharashtra transport commissioner, who directed BEST to conduct an internal investigation and submit a report, which will be sent to the state government, an official said.
Under the wet lease model, the responsibility of providing drivers and carrying out maintenance of hired buses remains with private contractors. The state-run transport bodies, on their part, pay them a specific amount for the buses.&nbsp;
