According to a report by NDTV, a powerful 50-kg improvised explosive device was used by Naxals.
The report added that the officers of the District Reserve Guard, who were on an anti-naxal operation, were travelling in a rented van. The vehicle that offered no ballistic protection may have been flung as far as 20 feet due to the blast, the NDTV report said.&nbsp;
Visuals show a huge crater, almost 10-feet deep, splitting the road at the site.&nbsp;

In one of the longest encounters in the history of Gadchiroli, security forces gunned down at 26 Maoists in the dense forests of the Maharashtra district.
Reports said the fierce encounter ensued at around 6pm and ended at 4pm with police saying C-60 commandos of the Gadchiroli police carried out the operation.
Four policemen were also injured in the encounter and were taken to Nagpur for treatment.
While police claim that around 100 elite C-60 commandos of the Gadchiroli police carried out the operation, sources based media reports said that there were 16 parties of the C-60 commandos with a total strength of over 500.

In the wake of the deadly Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region that claimed the lives of 22 security personnel, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said the morale of jawans is high and the operation against Naxals will continue.&nbsp;Talking to reporters in Raipur, Baghel said that Maoists are fighting their last battle now and they will be eliminated very soon.&nbsp;He added that the work of setting up camps of security forces in the Naxal stronghold areas in the state will be expedited.&nbsp;The CM further said the incident was not just an encounter, but can be termed as a war that lasted for about four hours with heavy exchange of fire from both sides.
