Days after Netflix removed Nayanthara starrer &lsquo;Annapoorani&rsquo; from its platform, the actor issued an apology on social media, saying she and her team did not intend to hurt anyone's sentiments.
Nayanthara issued an apology via an Instagram post with Jai Shri Ram and the Hindu religious symbol Om written on the masthead. She said that the intention behind the film was to uplift and inspire and not cause distress. The actor added that over the last 2 decades, her journey in the industry has been guided by a singular intention- to spread positivity and foster learning from one another.
&lsquo;In our sincere attempt to share a positive message, we may have inadvertently caused hurt. We did not expect the removal of a censored film, previously showcased in theatres, from the OTT platform. My team and I never intended to hurt anyone's sentiments and we understand that the gravity of this issue. Being someone who wholely believes in God and frequently visits temples accross the country, it is the last thing I would intentionally do. To those whose feelings we've touched, I extend my sincere and heartfelt apologies,&rsquo; she wrote.
&lsquo;The intention behind 'Annapoorni was to uplift and inspire, not to cause distress Over the last two decades, my journey in the film industry has been guided with a singular intention - To spread positivity &amp; foster learning from one another,&rsquo; Nayanthara further said in her post.
&lsquo;Annapoorani&rsquo; stirred controversy after a few Hindu groups accused it of spreading anti-Hindu propaganda.
The movie centers around Annapoorani (portrayed by Nayanthara), who comes from a traditional Brahmin family in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu. Her dream is to attain the status of a renowned chef in India, but she encounters challenges as she grapples with the conflict between her passion and conservative values.
With encouragement from her fellow student Farhan (played by Jai), she ventures beyond her familiar boundaries and starts consuming non-vegetarian food.
In one of the movie scenes, Farhan persuades Annapoorani to try meat, asserting that even Lord Ram had consumed it, emphasizing that eating non-vegetarian food is not a sinful act.
Following this, Ramesh Solanki, the founder of the Hindu IT cell, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his disapproval of the film. He also lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the Mumbai Police filing an FIR.
The complaint targeted Nayanthara, Jai, the writer-director Nilesh Krishna, producers Jatin Sethi, R Ravindran, and Punit Goenka, Shariq Patel, the Chief Business Officer of Zee Studios, as well as Monika Shergill, the head of Netflix India.

Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food' stars Nayanthara in the role of an aspiring chef who defies her mother's warnings to participate in the reality show 'India's Best Chef.' The film is a joint production by Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran and features a cast including Jai, Sathyaraj, Redin Kingsley, Suresh Chakravarthy, Renuka, and KS Ravikumar. Thaman S composed the music, while Sathyan Sooryan served as the cinematographer.
Nayanthara received training from a professional chef for her role, and 'Annapoorani' also marks her reunion with Jai after they collaborated in the 2013 film 'Raja Rani.'

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, &lsquo;Jawan&rsquo; earned Rs 26.50 crore in India on its sixth day. The film&rsquo;s total collection now stands at Rs 345.58 crore (nett).
&lsquo;Jawan&rsquo;, which was released in theatres worldwide on September 7, also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Vijay Sethupathi. Ridhi Dogra and Sanya Malhotra are among many others who play a pivotal role in the film.

In an interview with TV host Dhivyadarshini, the actor also indirectly addressed the comment of Malvika Mohanan on her make-up look in the hospital scene and said, 'There&rsquo;s this interview I saw of another heroine. She didn&rsquo;t take my name but hinted at me. She said that she saw a hospital scene where I was prim and proper with even my hairdo intact. She questioned how can someone be like that in a hospital scene. I am not saying one should be prim and proper in a hospital scene, but that doesn&rsquo;t mean one should be with tousled and unkempt hair. There will be people to take care of you and they obviously tie up your hair.'
She added, 'Also, there&rsquo;s a huge difference when you are doing a realistic film and when you are doing a commercial film. When you are doing a realistic film, you have to go all the way to look the part. But this example was from a commercial film&hellip; I went in with a look but my director told me not to look so sad. It is how they wanted to do the scene. So, when there&rsquo;s a commercial aspect to it, you get as realistic as required.'
In an earlier interview, Malavika said, 'I have seen like this really big superstar actress. She is in one hospital scene and she is almost dying&hellip; and she is in full makeup!'

She also talked about &lsquo;RRR&rsquo; star Jr NTR and said, 'He's also a brat. One day when we were shooting, I was touching up my make-up. He kept staring at me and I asked him why. He asked why I was touching up my makeup. I said I had to get ready for the shot. He then jokingly said 'no one's going to look at you. Everyone's going to look at me.' I am so amazed by the way he dances and transforms himself on screen. I've never seen him rehearse. He's the only hero who never rehearses. I don't know about him now. But, when we were shooting, he just came to the sets, looked at the steps, and performed it with ease. Even when I ask for a rehearsal, he says that he's ready.'
