First, a quick roundup of Asian equities &ndash; Key stock markets in the region ended the day higher. Investors reacted to August trade data from China, where exports grew faster than expectations. So, China's Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng were up two-tenths of a per cent each. Japan's Nikkei, though, closed lower for the session. Turning to domestic markets - In India, the Sensex and the Nifty closed off the day's highs but still gained almost half a per cent each. The Sensex closed just below the 82,000 mark and the Nifty ended the day above 25,000. Of the fifty constituents of the Nifty, 34 gained while 16 slipped on Tuesday. Pharma major Divi's Lab was the star of the day with over five per cent surge. In stock-specific action, private insurance majors HDFC Life and SBI Life slipped in Tuesday's trade. In the regulatory space &ndash; The Congress has levelled a fresh set of allegations against SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch, this time targeting her husband, Dhaval Buch. The party claimed Dhaval Buch received 4.78 crore rupees as "income in a personal capacity" from the Mahindra Group between 2019 and 2021. However, the Mahindra Group denied the allegations, calling them "false and misleading". The group said that Dhaval Buch, who retired from Unilever in 2019, was hired solely for his expertise in supply chain management. Shifting focus to some global headlines &ndash; Apple has received a huge blow hours after it launched iPhone 16. Meanwhile, the rupee ended flat at 83.97 against the dollar.India's services sector activity growth touched a five-month high in August. The HSBC India Services Purchasing Managers&rsquo; Index (PMI), compiled by S&amp;P Global, rose to 60.9 in August. The PMI reading has remained above the 50-mark, which separates expansion from contraction, for 35 consecutive months. India&rsquo;s services sector, one of the world&rsquo;s fastest-growing, accounts for more than half of the country&rsquo;s GDPIn other news, trouble mounts for SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. In an unprecedented move, SEBI officials have raised concerns about a toxic work environment under the leadership of Buch. A letter by the officials dated August 6th, which has been reviewed by Economic Times, reportedly says and I quote - Shouting, scolding and public humiliation have become a norm in meetings. unquote. This letter, sent to the finance ministry, accuses the leadership of using harsh language, setting unrealistic goals and micromanaging their work. In response, SEBI has said that these concerns have been addressed. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted its final approval to the country&rsquo;s first eye drops which can help remove reading glasses. Developed by Mumbai-based Entod Pharmaceuticals, PresVu eye drops have been developed for presbyopia. As per News18, The eyedrops will be available in pharmacies from the first week of October. Priced at Rs 350, these prescription-based drops are indicated for individuals aged 40 to 55 years with mild to intermediate presbyopia. However, in a sharp U-turn, markets quickly slipped into the red and continued falling amid selling pressure in heavyweights such as Reliance, HDFC Bank and L&amp;T.&nbsp;

The Nifty plunged 172.35 points to 22,475.85, and the Sensex ended 732.96 points down to close at 73,878.15 on Friday's close.&nbsp;
"Profit booking and a degree of caution ahead of the release of the US non-farm payroll resulted in selling pressure in the market. However, the absence of significant negative surprises in Q4 earnings thus far, along with a decline in oil prices, might help to mitigate the downside. Though the correction was broad-based, the large-cap stock was the key underperformer due to the moderation of FII'
Top gainers were Coal India Ltd., Grasim Industries Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India Ltd., and ICICI Bank Ltd while Reliance Industries Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Larsen &amp; Toubro Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd., and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. weighed on the benchmark index.
On NSE, eight sectors advanced, and four declined out of 12. The NSE Nifty Media was the top loser, and the NSE Nifty Finance was the top gainer. Broader markets outperformed. The S&amp;P BSE Midcap ended 0.52% lower, and the S&amp;P BSE Smallcap settled 0.21% lower. On BSE, 19 sectors out of 20 declined, only S&amp;P BSE Healthcare rose. The S&amp;P BSE Telecommunication declined the most.

Nifty crossed the 19,300 mark to a new all time high in early trade on Monday. The Sensex, meanwhile, traded higher over 65,000 during the opening hours and later crossed 65,100. Additionally, Bank Nifty surpassed the 45,000 threshold and reached a new high.
These impressive gains are a reflection of investors' increased optimism as inflationary pressures in the US seem to be receding. This development has spurred a surge in equities market confidence, driving Indian shares to all-time highs.
<h3>Gift Nifty which replaces SGX Nifty from today</h3>
SGX Nifty, the early indicator of the domestic benchmarks, shifted base from Singapore Exchange to NSE International Exchange in Gandhinagar Gujarat. All SGX Nifty positions have been converted to GIFT Nifty positions.
The beginning of the operation of GIFT NIFTY is a significant step in the shifting of the base Singapore Exchange to the NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
&ldquo;The NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) is rebranding the SGX-Nifty product as the GIFT-Nifty. The reason for this rebranding is that from June 30, the entire trading of SGX-Nifty will cease at SGX and the entire volume will shift to GIFT IFSC from July 3,&rdquo; said Injeti Srinivas, Chairman, International Financial Services Center Authority (IFSCA), the unified regulator at GIFT IFSC at Gandhinagar.

The Nifty Midcap 100 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 both increased by half a percent, indicating that the rally was supported by the larger market.
Nifty Metals, Nifty PSU Banks, Nifty Auto, Nifty Consumer Durables, and Nifty FMCG lead the sectoral indexes in trading gains.
