It was yet another weak session for Asian equities, with most benchmark indices across the continent closing in the red. China&rsquo;s Shanghai Composite snapped its winning streak, ending the day down seven-tenths of a percent, while Hong Kong&rsquo;s Hang Seng fell almost one and a half percent. South Korea&rsquo;s Kospi slipped nearly one percent after the country&rsquo;s third-quarter GDP growth came in at 0.1 percent, missing estimates of 0.5 percent. Japan&rsquo;s Nikkei was the only outlier, showing a marginal uptick.Back home, the Sensex and the Nifty extended their losing streak. The Nifty was down two-tenths of a percent at 24,399, while the Sensex ended almost unchanged. Of the fifty constituents of the Nifty, 26 gained and 24 declined. Among the losers, FMCG major Hindustan Unilever saw the sharpest cut, down almost six percent. HUL&rsquo;s second-quarter performance disappointed the market with a four percent drop in net profit. The second biggest loser on the Nifty was private insurer SBI Life, which was also down five percent due to its muted Q2 performance. The big story from the artificial intelligence space: AI chip maker Nvidia has partnered with Mukesh Ambani&rsquo;s Reliance Industries to build AI infrastructure in India. The announcement was made during Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang&rsquo;s conversation with Mukesh Ambani at the Nvidia AI Summit 2024 in Mumbai. In addition to the tie-up with Reliance Industries, Nvidia is also collaborating with other Indian companies such as Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and Flipkart. Shifting focus to the economy: Global brokerage firm Nomura expects India's growth momentum to moderate in the third quarter, with a continued soft outlook into the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year. Speaking to NDTV Profit, Nomura&rsquo;s Sonal Verma noted that while the slowdown in growth is largely driven by weaker investment activity, consumption and industrial output indicators are also showing signs of moderation. This projection comes a day after the IMF&rsquo;s decision to retain its growth forecast for India for both the current and next fiscal years.&nbsp; And here&rsquo;s a piece of news for those of you who live in Mumbai and Hyderabad and commute to work daily: after launching its shuttle service in Delhi and Kolkata, ride-hailing app Uber is set to pilot the service in Mumbai and Hyderabad soon. According to Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, the company is also in discussions with multiple stakeholders to introduce the service in Bengaluru. Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty hit their fresh record high levels in early trade on Thursday after retail inflation slipped to one-year low in May along with buying in IT stocks.
The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 538.89 points to hit its lifetime peak of 77,145.46. The NSE Nifty climbed 158.1 points to its record peak of 23,481.05.
Among the 30 Sensex companies, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Nestle, Titan, HCL Technologies, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Consultancy Services and Bajaj Finserv were the biggest gainers.

Retail inflation continued its downward slide to reach a one-year low of 4.75 per cent in May due to a marginal decline of prices in the food basket and remained within the Reserve Bank's comfort zone of below 6 per cent, according to government data released on Wednesday.
"There is good news on the inflation front, both in the US and in India. The takeaway from the inflation numbers is that the disinflation process is well on track. From the market perspective, this is positive news, particularly for banking stocks," said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 0.36 per cent to USD 82.30 a barrel.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 426.63 crore on Wednesday, according to exchange data.

Stocks soared to new heights in today's trading session as the Nifty 50 index surged past the 22,000 mark, achieving an all-time high of 22,215. Leading the charge were prominent players like HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and Power Grid, driving the market to new peaks.
Despite encountering notable volatility throughout the day, with the Nifty 50 witnessing swings of up to 170 points, the index managed to conclude the session with a 0.34% increase, closing at 22,196. This marks the sixth consecutive day of gains for the benchmark index, with a cumulative surge of almost 3% over this period.
In sync with the Nifty's performance, the Sensex also experienced a notable uptick, closing 0.48% higher at 73,057. Noteworthy contributions from key banking players such as HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and ICICI Bank played a pivotal role in steering the market towards positive territory.
However, amidst the bullish momentum, the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices lagged behind, closing with slight losses of 0.17% and 0.18%, respectively.
The trading day witnessed over 330 stocks hitting their fresh 52-week highs during intraday trading, indicating a widespread bullish sentiment across various sectors. Notable names among these included NTPC, ONGC, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Labs, Grasim Industries, Indian Hotels Company, and Zomato, signifying the broad-based nature of today's market rally.
As investors continue to monitor market movements closely, the record-breaking performance of the Nifty 50 serves as a testament to the resilience and strength of the Indian stock market, reflecting renewed investor confidence and optimism for the future. Goldman Sachs raises the December 2024 target for the Nifty 50 index to 23,500, a 9% increase from current levels, citing improved earnings and re-evaluated valuations. The earlier target stood at 21,800. &nbsp; &nbsp;&ldquo;Better macro mix led us to raise our Nifty 2024-end target to 23,500 which implies a 9 per cent price and 12 per cent dollar total return, led by earnings. Our revised target incorporates a 2 per cent higher earnings per share (EPS) and a 6 per cent higher target price-to-earnings P/E (19.3x),&rdquo; said Goldman Sachs in a note. The brokerage notes a shift in the global macro environment, now more favorable due to anticipated robust US growth and optimism regarding potential rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve, in contrast to conditions two months ago.

Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty rallied for the seventh straight session to hit fresh lifetime highs on Wednesday, driven by gains in index majors Reliance Industries, ITC and L&amp;T amid persistent foreign fund inflows.
Besides, receding crude oil prices in international markets also boosted sentiment, traders said.
The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 357.59 points, or 0.52 per cent, to settle at a new record of 69,653.73. The barometer rose to 69,744.62 during intra-day.
The broader index Nifty also climbed 82.60 points, or 0.40 per cent, to hit its fresh peak of 20,937.70.

"Post-state elections, market optimism thrives, confirming policy continuity and meeting investor expectations. A robust FII reversal is fuelled by receding inflation and dropping yields in US and Indian markets. The allure of Indian market gains post-China credit rating downgrade and decline in oil prices was followed by ease in geopolitical tensions," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.
As many as 20 shares of the 30-share index closed the session with gains, while 30 stocks of the Nifty's 50 firms ended in positive territory.
Among major Sensex movers, Wipro closed with the maximum gain of 3.85 per cent, followed by ITC -- 2.51 per cent higher. L&amp;T and TCS gained 2.31 per cent and 2.13 per cent, respectively. Tata Motors, Nestle India, Infosys and Bajaj Finance were other gainers.
On the other hand, NTPC, Axis Bank, UltraTech Cement and ICICI Bank ended the session with a loss of up to 1.58 per cent.

Analysts said the sustained equity buying by foreign institutional investors was attributed to declining US bond yields, while the domestic players were betting big on favourable macroeconomic data and expectations of longer political stability in the country.
Besides, investors are also expecting the Reserve Bank to maintain the status quo on the interest rate in its bi-monthly monetary policy decision to be announced on Friday, they added.
Foreign institutional investors purchased shares worth Rs 5,223.51 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data.

Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty extended rally for the eighth straight session on Wednesday, propelled by intense buying in IT, healthcare and auto stocks amid sustained foreign fund inflows.
A strengthening rupee and positive opening in European markets further bolstered sentiment, traders said.
TCS will kick start the Q4 earnings season later in the day. Industrial Production data for February and March inflation rates are scheduled to be announced post-market hours.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 235.05 points or 0.39 per cent to settle at 60,392.77. During the day, it jumped 279.92 points or 0.46 per cent to 60,437.64.
The broader NSE Nifty gained 90.10 points or 0.51 per cent to finish at 17,812.40.
Among the Sensex firms, Infosys, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, HDFC, Tata Consultancy Services, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank were the biggest winners.
On the other hand, PowerGrid, NTPC, Nestle, UltraTech Cement, State Bank of India and ITC were among the laggards.
"The domestic market exhibited cautiousness in anticipation of the release of various economic data and the upcoming Q4 earnings season. The IT sector drove the optimism in the market as investors await the earnings releases of sector majors," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.
In Asian markets, Seoul, Japan and Shanghai ended in the green, while Hong Kong settled lower.
Equity markets in Europe were also trading with gains during the afternoon trade. The US markets ended mostly lower in overnight trade on Tuesday.
The rupee closed 3 paise higher at 82.09 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday.
The Sensex rose 311.21 points or 0.52 per cent to finish at 60,157.72 on Tuesday. The Nifty gained 98.25 points or 0.56 per cent to settle at 17,722.30.
Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.35 per cent to USD 85.91 per barrel.
Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) further bought equities worth Rs 342.84 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data.

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty buckled under selling pressure for the second straight session to settle nearly 1 per cent lower on Friday as investors pared exposure to the metal, energy and realty stocks amid a bearish trend in Asian and European markets.
Besides, a depreciating rupee against the US dollar and fresh foreign fund outflows also hit investor sentiments, traders said.
In a volatile trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 398.18 points or 0.69 per cent to finish at 57,527.10. During the day, it went lower by 502.3 points or 0.86 per cent to 57,422.98.
The broader NSE Nifty fell 131.85 points or 0.77 per cent to end at 16,945.05.
Bajaj Finserv was the biggest loser among the Sensex constituents, sliding 3.81 per cent, followed by Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, HCL Tech, SBI, Larsen &amp; Toubro and Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Axis Bank and Titan.
On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, Asian Paints and Wipro were the gainers.
In Asia markets, stock exchanges in Seoul, Japan, Shanghai and Hong Kong ended lower.
European markets were also quoting in the red in the afternoon trade. The US markets ended higher on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the rupee declined 25 paise to close at 82.45 against the US dollar.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude dipped 1.73 per cent to USD 74.60 per barrel.

Among the Sensex stocks, Reliance Industries climbed the most by 3.11 per cent. Bajaj Finance, Titan, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, UltraTech Cement, Larsen &amp; Toubro, HDFC Bank, HDFC and Kotak Mahindra Bank were among the other major winners.
Power Grid, Hindustan Unilever, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Asian Paints were among the biggest laggards.
In Asia, Seoul, Hong Kong and Shanghai markets ended higher.
European markets were trading in the green during afternoon trade. The US markets ended in positive territory on Monday.
Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.65 per cent to USD 74.27 per barrel.
Foreign Portfolio Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 2,545.87 crore on Monday, according to exchange data.

Falling for the fourth day in a row, the BSE Sensex tumbled 927.74 points or 1.53 per cent to settle at 59,744.98, the lowest closing level since February 1. During the day, it tanked 991.17 points or 1.63 per cent to 59,681.55.
The 50-issue NSE Nifty declined 272.40 points or 1.53 per cent to end at a four-month low of 17,554.30 with 47 of its constituents ending in the red.
From the Sensex pack, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Reliance Industries, Wipro, HDFC Bank, HDFC, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel were the major laggards.
ITC was the lone winner in the Sensex pack.

Rallying for the fifth day in a row, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 211.16 points or 0.34 per cent to settle at 62,504.80, its fresh record closing high. During the day, it jumped 407.76 points or 0.65 per cent to its lifetime intra-day peak of 62,701.40.
The broader NSE Nifty gained 50 points or 0.27 per cent to end at 18,562.75, its record closing high.
Among the Sensex pack, Reliance Industries jumped the most by 3.48 per cent, followed by Nestle, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, Wipro, ICICI Bank and IndusInd Bank.
