<p>Today, we&rsquo;re diving into an epic showdown between two powerhouse earbuds: the new flagship OnePlus Buds Pro 3 and my trusty Realme Buds Air 6 Pro.</p>
<p>With OnePlus coming in at a higher price point, it&rsquo;s time to see if the upgrade justifies the extra cash when compared to Realme's excellent value for money offering.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Buds Pro 3 Design</strong></h3>
<p>First off, both the OnePlus and Realme earbuds sport a similar pebble-shaped charging case, perfect for slipping into your pocket. The OnePlus case weighs in at 61 grams compared to the Realme's lighter 46 grams, thanks to a larger battery.</p>
<p>Realme goes for a chrome look, while OnePlus opts for a premium vegan leather finish, which isn't real leather but it still feels nice. Now, it's hard to say how this material will hold up against wear and tear in the long run but we should point out that the chrome on Realme&rsquo;s case is already showing signs of wear after just a month of use.</p>
<p>Both earbuds feature a stem-style design, but the OnePlus adds a nice touch with a matte and glossy combo. Fit-wise, they both stay snug in your ears, but OnePlus edges out for all-day comfort. And while both have an IP55 rating, the OnePlus case itself doesn&rsquo;t have any IP protection, so keep that in mind.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Buds Pro 3 App &amp; Connectivity</strong></h3>
<p>On the connectivity front, both earbuds pack Bluetooth, with Realme at version 5.3 and OnePlus stepping it up to 5.4. They both support dual-device connections, which is a huge plus, and it means you can seamlessly switch between let's say your phone and tablet without the hassle of disconnecting and reconnecting.</p>
<p>Both buds get app support - &nbsp;HeyMelody app for OnePlus and Realme Link for, well, Realme. These apps work on both Android and iOS, but Realme Link offers a few more extra settings.&nbsp;<br>Now, about audio codecs: Realme supports LDAC, while OnePlus uses LHDC, both boasting Hi-Res audio capabilities.</p>
<p>But there&rsquo;s a catch, OnePlus buds can&rsquo;t use Hi-Res on iOS, so you&rsquo;ll need an Android device for that feature. When it comes to quick pairing, Google Fast Pair is available for both. It allows your earbuds to instantly connect to your Android device with just a tap, similar to the way AirPods work with iPhones.</p>
<p>Realme also advertises a lower latency of 55ms compared to OnePlus' 94ms. Lower latency is crucial for gamers because it reduces the delay between audio and video, providing a more synchronized experience.</p>
<p>In our experience, though, the difference in gaming performance was negligible. Just remember that Realme&rsquo;s low latency mode needs to be activated in the app.</p>
<p>We might as well talk a bit about the touch controls. The Buds Pro 3 gets customizable squeeze-based controls. You can even adjust the volume right from the stem! Although, we have to admit, the volume control on the inner side threw us off at first. It took us a couple of tries to get the hang of it.</p>
<p>Now, the Realme earbuds go for touch controls. While they're easy enough to use, they don&rsquo;t offer a volume control option, and they can be a bit finicky at times. On the bright side, both earbuds have wear detection, which is always a nifty feature!</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Buds Pro 3 Audio &amp; Call Quality</strong></h3>
<p>The OnePlus buds continue the legacy of their predecessors with Dynaudio, featuring a 6mm tweeter and an 11mm woofer. Realme&rsquo;s bass is there but needs a boost from the equalizer, while OnePlus delivers more punch right out of the box.</p>
<p>The mids and vocals on OnePlus are crisp and clear with a touch of bass, but at 100% volume on default settings, it can be a bit much. Realme, on the other hand, handles high volumes better.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Buds Pro 3 ANC</strong></h3>
<p>Active noise cancellation is a highlight for both, each claiming to block up to 50 decibels of ambient noise. In our testing, OnePlus provided superior noise cancellation and a more comfortable fit.</p>
<p>Plus, the transparency mode on the OnePlus is stellar it&rsquo;s so natural, that it feels like you&rsquo;re not even wearing earbuds. Both earbuds come with noise cancellation for calls. We tested them in a noisy outdoor setting and felt that both sounded equally good.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Buds Pro 3 Battery</strong></h3>
<p>Battery life is another strong suit for both, with OnePlus boasting 44 hours of combined playback and Realme offering 40 hours. These numbers don&rsquo;t include noise cancellation, but even with it on, both managed to last four days without a full recharge. However, OnePlus scores extra points with wireless charging for the case.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Buds Pro 3 Verdict</strong></h3>
<p>So, is the extra cost for the OnePlus earbuds worth it? If you&rsquo;re all about premium sound quality or need top-notch noise cancellation, OnePlus should be your go-to choice. But if you want reliable performance without breaking the bank, Realme might just hit the sweet spot.</p>

<h2><strong id="docs-internal-guid-2edfa9aa-7fff-984b-ebea-a305534c09b0">The OnePlus Watch 2R offers similar features to the OnePlus Watch 2 but at a reduced price of ₹17,999. Lightweight, versatile, and cost-effective, it's a solid choice for smartwatch enthusiasts.</strong></h2>

<p>We've been using the OnePlus Watch 2 as my daily driver for some time now, and we really like it. It's a solid smartwatch and way better than the original OnePlus Watch, which lets face it, wasn't all that great.&nbsp; However, the ₹24,999 price tag for the Watch 2 always felt a bit steep.</p>
<p>Thankfully, OnePlus listened and launched the OnePlus Watch 2R in India for ₹17,999. So, what sets these two apart, and which one should you choose? If your budget is flexible, should you go for the Watch 2R or splurge on the Watch 2? We have got both here to help you decide.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Watch 2R Design</strong></h3>
<p>So, the OnePlus Watch 2R has an aluminum frame, making it super lightweight, while the Watch 2 goes for a more premium stainless steel build. This change in materials makes the Watch 2R about 20-22 grams lighter, which is great if you prefer a lighter feel on your wrist.</p>
<p>My biggest issue is that these watches are just too big for my hands, as they only come in one size 46mm. It would have been fantastic if OnePlus had made them in 40mm or 42mm options too.</p>
<p>Both watches use the same standard 22mm strap, which means you can easily swap in third-party straps if you want to change things up. However, the Watch 2 uses a durable fluoro rubber strap whereas the Watch 2R comes with a lighter, more flexible silicone band. The silicone is comfy for all-day wear, but it might not feel as high-quality as the rubber band on the Watch 2.</p>
<p>We personally love the Gunmetal gray color of the Watch 2R. It's also available in forest green, but that&rsquo;s not really my style. The Watch 2R has a flat bezel with 24-hour markings for that retro vibe, especially in the green version, while the Watch 2 has a sleek, curved bezel that just screams sophistication.</p>
<p>We just wish the crown on both watches had some cool functionality when you spun it, like the Apple Watch. It feels like a missed opportunity for sure. On the sides, both watches have two physical buttons, but the Watch 2R has a rounded flat design, whereas the Watch 2 sports a more distinctive handle-like structure that looks and feels more premium.</p>
<p>The top crown on both watches handles navigation, bringing you to the home and app drawer. You can even customize the buttons double tap, long press, single tap it's all up to you. The Watch 2R comes with an IP68 rating and 5ATM certification, so it's great for swimming or rainy days, but it misses out on the Military Standard 810H certification that the Watch 2 has.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Watch 2R Display</strong></h3>
<p>Both the Watch 2R and the OnePlus Watch 2 sport a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 and peak brightness levels of 1,000 nits, so you don't have to worry about visibility in bright outdoor conditions. But a notable distinction is the protective glass.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The OnePlus Watch 2 uses 2.5D sapphire crystal glass, enhancing scratch resistance, while the Watch 2R utilizes simpler 2D glass. Both models have somewhat thick display bezels, but the darker watch faces on the Watch 2 help minimize the bezel's visibility.</p>
<p>These watches also feature an always-on display option, keeping the watch face visible even when the screen is inactive.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Watch 2R Connectivity</strong></h3>
<p>Pairing the OnePlus Watch 2R and Watch 2 with your smartphone using the OHealth app is pretty straightforward. It's compatible with any Android device, but sorry iPhone users, the OHealth app is exclusive to the Google Play Store right now. While both watches have NFC, its utility is limited at the moment.</p>
<p>In theory, you can make payments, but Google Pay is not an option just yet. PTC: I'm also a bit disappointed by the lack of an LTE option. Both watches don't have eSIM capabilities, meaning no standalone cellular connectivity. This feature is only available in the Chinese version, probably due to certification issues.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Watch 2R Performance</strong></h3>
<p>The Watch 2R has two chips and runs on two operating systems, just like the more expensive Watch 2. It uses Google's Wear OS 4 for most tasks but also has OnePlus own RTOS for specific functions. The Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip takes care of Wear OS tasks, while the BES2700BP chip handles everyday stuff like tracking your sleep, heart rate, and activities.</p>
<p>Dual chips and dual operating systems do sound complicated but switching between systems is smooth and everything runs efficiently. In our testing, we hardly noticed any stutters on either watches, even while running third-party watch faces.</p>
<p>The Watch 2R comes with about 20 pre-installed, and you can download up to 100 more using the OHealth app. While there are some good options, only two actually use the 24-hour markings on the bezel.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Watch 2R Fitness Tracking</strong></h3>
<p>Then there's all the fitness stuff: you get steps tracking, heart rate monitoring, running, cycling, swimming, and over 100 sports modes. The Watch 2R also has dual-band GPS, which is a big plus for outdoor fitness enthusiasts. We took a walk test with both watches, and the GPS accuracy was pretty spot-on for both.</p>
<p>But the Watch 2R doesn't offer ECG monitoring, fall detection, or period tracking, so it has the same health tracking limitations as the OnePlus Watch 2.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Watch 2R Battery</strong></h3>
<p>The battery is a standout feature for both of these watches. OnePlus claims they can last up to 100 hours in Smart Mode, but that's pretty optimistic. You&rsquo;ll only get that kind of battery life if you turn off features like the always-on display (AOD), GPS, and constant heart rate monitoring.</p>
<p>During our testing with heart rate monitoring and AOD enabled, we got impressive results, needing a charge every three days. For even longer battery life, Power Saver mode fully switches to RTOS, offering up to 12 days of use.</p>
<p>Charging is super easy with the included magnetic puck and detachable cable. The Watch 2R supports fast charging, reaching a full charge in under an hour without needing a specific OnePlus adapter.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Watch 2R Verdict</strong></h3>
<p>You get almost the same features as the OnePlus Watch 2 for ₹7,000 less. From battery to display to sensors, it's got everything. If you want a more and premium-looking watch and can stretch your budget, you can consider the OnePlus Watch 2 as well.</p>
<p>But for us, the cheaper Watch 2R checks all the essential boxes, unless you want to use Google Pay or measure your ECG. In that case you might want to go with the Galaxy Watch 6 or the Galaxy Watch 7.</p>

<p>The OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite price in India starts Rs.19,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option. If you need more storage space, the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant is available for Rs. 22,999. The phone is available in three colours: Mega Blue, Super Silver, and Ultra Orange.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite Unboxing</strong></h3>
<p>Opening the box, we find stuff like stickers, user guides, a Red Cable club membership card, a protective cover, and a SIM ejector tool.</p>
<p>There's the phone of course and &nbsp;80W SuperVOOC charger with a USB Type-A to Type-C cable for super-fast charging.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite Design &amp; Utility</strong></h3>
<p>The OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite in Super Silver is a real head-turner! It gleams with a reflective surface, though keep in mind that this finish does show fingerprints easily.</p>
<p>The back is crafted from sturdy plastic but it feels sturdy in the hand thanks to its boxy design and reassuringly solid build quality. &nbsp;</p>
<p>The clicky and tactile volume buttons add a nice touch, and the dual-camera setup with a dual LED flash on the back keeps things clean and simple.</p>
<p>For audio, the stereo speakers are perfectly suitable for casual listening, offering plenty of volume to crank things up 300% if needed. &nbsp;While they may not be the most bass-heavy or detail-rich on the market, they'll get the job done. &nbsp;</p>
<p>In terms of connectivity, you've got the flexibility of dual Nano-SIM slots, expandable storage via microSD card up to a whopping 2TB, and a beloved feature for many - a 3.5mm headphone jack!</p>
<p>One area where the Nord CE4 Lite might not compete with absolute top-tier phones is the haptic feedback. It's still functional, but some users might prefer a crisper response.</p>
<p>On the bright side, the phone boasts an IP54 rating, &nbsp;meaning it can shrug off dust and light splashes with ease.</p>
<p>A feature many OnePlus fans have come to appreciate is the signature alert slider, and unfortunately, it's missing on the Nord CE4 Lite. Hopefully, we'll see it make a comeback in future budget models!</p>

<p>The display is one area where OnePlus has improved significantly. The device has a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and a vibrant visual experience.</p>
<p>The display supports an 8-bit color depth and achieves a peak brightness of 2100 nits, making it easy to read even under direct sunlight.</p>
<p>The bezels, especially at the chin, are slightly more visible than one might expect, but they don't significantly affect the overall viewing experience. The fingerprint sensor is responsive and quick too.</p>
<p>While the display offers a crisp and colorful viewing experience, it does not support 4K video playback and HDR content, which is disappointing as some competitors in the same price range offer these features.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite Performance</strong></h3>
<p>Under the hood, the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite is powered by the Snapdragon 695 chipset, which has not been upgraded from the previous model, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite.</p>
<p>This processor choice leads to occasional lags, especially when multitasking or running demanding apps. The phone is equipped with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS2.2 storage, which should be enough for most users.</p>
<p>Benchmark testing shows that the phone's performance is not outstanding, with scores showing its mid-range results.</p>
<p>In Antutu benchmarks, the phone scored 480049, while Geekbench results showed 905 in single-core and 2056 in multi-core tests. CPU throttling was observed at up to 83% but the graph was almost green.</p>
<p>Gaming capabilities are okay for casual games, but the device struggles with more graphically demanding games. This makes it clear that the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite is more suited to everyday tasks rather than performance-heavy applications.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite Battery &amp; Software</strong></h3>
<p>One of the standout features of this device is its large 5,500mAh battery, which supports 80W Supervooc fast charging, a notable improvement that is not commonly seen in this price segment.</p>
<p>The fast charger, included in the box, powers the phone from 1% to 100% in just over an hour. In real-world usage, the battery provides around 8 hours of screen-on time, making it ideal for heavy users.</p>
<p>The OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite runs on Android 14 with OxygenOS 14.0, providing a user-friendly interface known for its simplicity. Despite some pre-installed bloatware, most unwanted apps can be uninstalled, allowing for a more personalized and smooth user experience.</p>
<p>OnePlus's commitment to providing two years of Android updates and three years of security updates.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite Camera Performance</strong></h3>
<p>The camera setup on the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite features a main 50MP Sony LYT 600 sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor and a 16MP front camera for selfies.</p>
<p>While the main camera captures, its performance suffers significantly in low-light conditions, where images might lack detail and clarity.</p>

<p>This might require a bit of getting used to for existing users, but I find this new layout more intuitive and easier to navigate. &nbsp;At the bottom of the phone, you'll find a USB Type-C port and the speaker grille.</p>
<p>This, along with a second speaker at the top, provides a pretty solid stereo sound experience. Additionally, there's an IR blaster on the top, allowing you to control various smart devices around your home.</p>
<p>Upfront, the 12R has a curved display, framed by impressively thin bezels, and it's shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It also comes with a pre-applied screen guard, though its quality isn't the highest, and I'd suggest opting for a tempered glass protector instead.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As for water resistance, the OnePlus 12's IP65 rating already drew some criticism, and the 12R goes a bit lower to IP64. This means it can handle a splash or two but it lags behind phones like the Pixel 7a and Galaxy A54, which come with stronger IP67 ratings.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus 12R Display&nbsp;</strong></h3>
<p>The OnePlus 12R sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED ProXDR display, featuring a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 2780 x 1264 pixels resolution. That's slightly smaller and less resolution-heavy than the OnePlus 12, but the 12R stands out by being one of the first smartphones to incorporate the latest LTPO 4 technology.</p>
<p>Basically, &nbsp;the screen on this phone offers even more dynamic refresh rate adjustments, switching between 60, 72, or 90Hz and ramping up to 120Hz for rapid scrolling while also dropping as low as 1Hz for enhanced battery efficiency.</p>
<p>It&rsquo;s a bit odd why the more expensive OnePlus 12 didn't receive LTPO 4 while the 12R did, but I guess that's one of the unique perks of opting for the OnePlus 12R.</p>
<p>Beyond the advanced LTPO capabilities, the display itself is sharp as heck, boasting excellent colours and great viewing angles. It also gets Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ credentials, so it's perfect for enjoying content on streaming platforms.</p>
<p>It even matches the OnePlus 12 with a crazy high peak brightness of 4500 nits, ensuring the screen is more than bright enough for clear visibility even in bright daylight&hellip;</p>
<p>OnePlus has also introduced a feature they're calling 'Aqua Touch,' aimed at making the screen less susceptible to interruptions caused by raindrops.</p>
<p>The idea is that you'd be able to use the phone's display smoothly, even when it's wet, avoiding any accidental touches. However, in my experience, it didn't perform as seamlessly as OnePlus suggested. Hence, I'd advise not to depend too much on this feature</p>

<p>The OnePlus 12R gets a triple camera setup on the back, featuring a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and unfortunately, a 2MP macro camera instead of a dedicated telephoto lens.</p>
<p>The main camera does the bulk of the work, capturing appealing shots in good lighting conditions. Colours are vibrant, details are sharp and exposure is well balanced in most of the photos I took.</p>
<p>There&rsquo;s a fair amount of natural depth of field without the portrait mode, but even when you turn it on, you can get some really nice images with accurate edge detection. Even in low-light situations, the main camera holds its own, delivering generally crisp details and minimal image noise.</p>
<p>The 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens gets the job done, and there&rsquo;s not a huge difference in color rendition between it and the main lens, but the details at the edges of the frame can appear a bit soft.</p>
<p>It&rsquo;s a shame that there&rsquo;s no telephoto lens onboard, especially since even cheaper phones are offering one these days. Instead, the camera app provides toggles for 2x and 5x zoom levels, achieved by digitally cropping into the image from the main lens. The 2x zoom holds up decently well, thanks to the 50-megapixel resolution providing ample room for cropping, but things can get a bit fuzzy at 5x zoom.</p>
<p>When shooting videos with the rear camera, the 12R lets you record in 4K at 60fps. The quality is pretty good, though it won't blow you away. I noticed that the videos look a bit overexposed and the dynamic range isn't as wide as some might hope.</p>
<p>The electronic image stabilization could be stronger too, so expect a slight shake when walking. However, the detail in the videos is sharp, and noise is hardly an issue. All in all, it does a decent job for everyday video capture.</p>
<p>The front camera on the OnePlus 12R packs a 16MP sensor, and when you're out and about in good light, it does a pretty solid job. HDR can be a bit aggressive, but you end up with pics that are sharp and full of detail.</p>
<p>When it comes to video, the front camera has EIS to keep things smooth, letting you film up to 1080p at 30fps. It's decent, but having the option to shoot in 4K would've been a welcome addition, especially for the price.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus 12R Specifications &amp; Performance</strong></h3>
<p>The OnePlus 12R runs on the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, but it's still plenty powerful. It scores high on benchmark scores and performs even better in day-to-day usage.</p>
<p>App switching is seamless, multitasking is a breeze, and it handles graphic-heavy games like Genshin Impact as well as any phone in the 40,000 Rupees price segment. I also didn't notice any overheating issues during gaming; the phone's back warmed up just a bit, but nothing alarming, indicating efficient heat management.</p>
<p>This comes down to a couple of key reasons: first, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset does an excellent job at keeping things cool. Second, there's this new VC Cooling System that uses a dual-vapor chamber design to help the phone stay at a comfortable temperature, even when you're gaming for long stretches.</p>
<p>Now, I've been doing all my testing on the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage model but I'd wager that even the 8GB RAM version performs just as good in its price range.&nbsp;</p>
<p>That being said, I do have to point out something important. When OnePlus first launched the 12R, they said the 256GB model would have the super fast UFS 4.0 storage. The website even said the same thing. Turns out, that&rsquo;s not actually the case .</p>
<p>OnePlus has actually apologised for the miscommunication, and now they are saying that both the 128GB and 256GB versions are just getting UFS 3.1 storage instead. So, if you were looking forward to snagging the OnePlus 12R for those speedy storage speeds, this might be a bit of a dissapointment.</p>
<h3><strong>&nbsp;OnePlus 12R Software&nbsp;</strong></h3>
<p>The OnePlus 12R features the same OxygenOS built on Android 14 as the OnePlus 12. Honestly, ever since OnePlus merged with Oppo, it's no longer my preferred Android interface, but it's still relatively clean and easy to navigate.</p>
<p>Also, just like the OnePlus 12, the 12R doesn&rsquo;t come with all those fancy AI features that Google and Samsung are heavily emphasising on their premium smartphones. But, that should change soon as OnePlus has already started to roll out some AI features in China.&nbsp;</p>
<p>For now, though, in India and most other places, &nbsp;this device is sticking to the basics &ndash; it&rsquo;s just a &nbsp;regular smartphone, and &nbsp;that&rsquo;s not necessarily a bad thing. The biggest letdown with OxygenOS comes from OnePlus&rsquo;s limited software support.</p>
<p>The 12R is on the schedule for just three years of OS updates and four years of security patches, taking it up to Android 17 and lasting until 2028. That&rsquo;s dwarfed by Google and Samsung&rsquo;s commitment to seven years of OS updates for their latest flagships, a policy rumored to be adopted by the upcoming Pixel 8a as well.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>&nbsp;OnePlus 12R Battery Life</strong></h3>
<p>The OnePlus 12R shines in the battery department, boasting a hefty 5,500 mAh battery&mdash;that's 100mAh more than the OnePlus 12.&nbsp; This bump in capacity seems to counterbalance the slightly less efficient Snapdragon Gen 2 chip, but it's also a notable 10% increase over the OnePlus 11's battery size.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In practice, this meant the phone easily powered through more than a day on a single charge for me. Adding to its strengths, the OnePlus 12R comes with the well-known SuperVOOC charging technology. With the included 100W charger, you're able to fully charge the phone in just under 30 minutes.</p>
<p>What you won't find on the 12R, though, is wireless charging&mdash;a feature that returned with the OnePlus 12 this year. Sure, more features are always better, but if dropping wireless charging was necessary to keep the price down &mdash; and squeeze in an extra 500mAh of battery life &mdash; I'm cool with that compromise.</p>

<p>Just keep in mind that if you&rsquo;re eyeing the full suite of features like the latest processor, wireless charging, and extended software support, you might want to lean towards the OnePlus 12.</p>
<p>But, if those extras aren&rsquo;t deal-breakers and you&rsquo;re after a reliable Android phone that&rsquo;s kind to your budget, the OnePlus 12R is definitely worth a look.</p>

<p>Having carried around the OnePlus Open for a few weeks, I can tell you that its appearance is somewhat misleading.</p>
<p>The phone's slab-like sides and humongous camera bump give it a somewhat intimidating look, and holding it can feel a bit awkward, especially due to the camera's position forcing your grip lower on the casing.</p>
<p>But trust me when I say this, looks can be deceptive.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Open Design</strong></h3>
<p>The Open is surprisingly light, thanks to OnePlus using ultra-light alloys and &nbsp;adopting some smart design choices. It's actually both lighter and slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, and when I Slip it into my pocket, it feels more like a regular phone rather than a foldable. &nbsp;</p>
<p>The hinge mechanism on the Open deserves praise too. It's perfectly calibrated to allow for a mini-laptop mode, and when fully opened, it snaps into place with a satisfying click.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As with most foldable phones, there's a crease on the main screen if you are looking for it, but it's less pronounced compared to the Fold 5, resulting in a smoother and cleaner appearance.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Open vs. Samsung Galaxy Fold: The Waterproofing Trade-off</strong></h3>
<p>On the flip side, while Samsung&rsquo;s foldables might be a bit heavier and creasier, they do come with that IPX8 rating, so they can take a dunk in water without a fuss.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The OnePlus Open, on the other hand, is only splash-proof with an IPX4 rating.</p>
<p>Its not really a huge issue but there&rsquo;s always that question about how it&rsquo;ll hold up over the long haul since this tech is still relatively new.</p>

<p>Now, when it comes to design choices, there aren&rsquo;t a ton of options here . You&rsquo;ve got the Emerald Dusk version with its classic glass back, and while it&rsquo;s perfectly fine, I'd pick this Voyager Black version any day of the week.&nbsp;</p>
<p>There's something about the rich, warm texture of the leather that feels great in your hand, and it can handle a fair amount of abuse as well.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Another bonus is that it comes with a case right in the box, a thoughtful addition that I really appreciate, especially considering Samsung's foldables don't come with one.</p>

<p>And talking about things I appreciate, the alert slider is very much much alive and kicking on the Open. It&rsquo;s still present on the right side and remains super convenient for quickly silencing unwanted notifications or calls.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I've also got to give a shoutout to OnePlus for bringing back a classic Android feature &ndash; the IR blaster. It's a lifesaver when your smart TV or AC remote goes missing, and it's a feature you don't often see on high-end phones these days.</p>
<h3>OnePlus Open: No Wireless Charging!</h3>
<p>That being said though, and this is a bit of a head scratcher - &nbsp;OnePlus included an IR blaster in the Open, but skipped out on wireless charging.</p>
<p>That feels like a bit of a mix-up in priorities, especially for a phone that costs ₹1,40,000.&nbsp;I mean look, if you don't care about wireless charging then the lack of it on the OnePlus Open might not be a deal breaker.&nbsp;</p>
<p>But here's the thing &ndash; almost every flagship phone in India comes with wireless charging. So, it's likely that a lot of folks looking to switch to the Open already have a charging pad or two lying around at home.</p>
<p>More importantly, though, and I can't stress this enough - charging your phone should be about choice, not limitations.</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Open Displays</strong></h3>
<p>Ok, now with that out of the way, let's switch gears and focus on a more positive aspect of the OnePlus Open &ndash; the displays. Similar to Samsung's Galaxy Fold series, the OnePlus Open boasts two screens: a slimmer 6.31 inch exterior display and a larger 7.82-inch panel inside.</p>
<p>Both screens are slightly bigger than the ones on the Fold 5, and both displays come with a variable 120Hz refresh rate. But what OnePlus really emphasizes is the brightness.</p>
<p>We're talking about around 1400 nits in normal use and up to an astonishing 2800 nits in specific scenarios like watching HDR content outdoors. And again, this impressive brightness level is consistent on both screens.</p>
<p>Now, I know that it's the inner display which usually gets all the attention in foldables, but I think the Open's cover screen is actually the real star.&nbsp;</p>
<p>It has a traditional 20:9 aspect ratio, similar to many regular phones, meaning it's comfortably wide. This is a notable difference from Samsung's Fold series and allows for easier typing of emails and messages without compromising screen space.</p>
<p>In fact, I found myself using the outer screen most of the time, only switching to the larger inner display for things like streaming videos or multitasking.</p>
<p>Now, that we're on the subject of multitasking, it's worth mentioning how well the OnePlus Open handles it.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Open Software &amp; Multitasking</strong></h3>
<p>I'm not saying it's better than Samsung's approach on their foldables, but over the past two years, OPPO has been diligently crafting a strong software foundation since their merger with OnePlus, and this expertise is now reflected in Oxygen OS, which seems tailor-made for a foldable format.&nbsp;</p>
<p>For starters, there's a versatile taskbar that you can show or hide as needed, which not only displays your recent apps but also includes a folder for recent documents.</p>
<p>Plus, there's support for floating windows. You can place these anywhere on the screen and adjust their size to your preference.&nbsp;<br>I also like that when you swipe up into the app switcher on the main screen, you get two columns of app cards, smartly taking advantage of that larger screen space.</p>
<p>Now of course, you can do the basic stuff like using two apps side by side in split-screen mode.&nbsp; But if you are feeling adventurous then you can use the new Open Canvas feature which allows you to have three apps open simultaneously, each with its own little tab for easy access and rearrangement.</p>
<p>It's like having individual app cards that you can slide in and out at will, and the setup works quite seamlessly. It still doesn't quite match the flexibility of Samsung's four-app multitasking but for a first attempt, it's very commendable and I'm sure that it will only get better with future software updates.</p>
<p>Speaking of which, OnePlus has promised four years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates for the Open. This brings them on par with Samsung's commitment to the Z Fold 5, and the Galaxy S23 series.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Open Specifications</strong></h3>
<p>You'd also be happy to know that the OnePlus Open excels in the regular phone department too. The OnePlus Open spcifications include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 512GB of storage, and a hefty 16GB of RAM.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Open Battery</strong></h3>
<p>This is a potent setup that ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks and high graphic gaming without any hiccups. Moreover, the 8 Gen 2 chipset seems to manage heat better than its predecessors and is quite efficient with battery life.</p>
<p>Getting through a full day of binge-watching shows, casual gaming, listening to music, and taking photos was no problem &ndash; and that too with a comfortable margin to spare.</p>
<p>Ofcourse, OnePlus does include a 67W fast wired charger in the box. and while that doesnt make up for the lack of wirelss charging, it can fully power up the Open in under an hour.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Open Camera</strong></h3>
<p>Finally, let&rsquo;s talk about the cameras on the OnePlus Open &ndash; they are, without a doubt, the best on any OnePlus phone so far.</p>
<p>OnePlus Open Camera specs include a 48MP Sony LYT-T808 main camera, alongside a 48MP ultra-wide and a 64MP telephoto lens.</p>
<p>The Hasselblad touch is clear in the colors &ndash; they&rsquo;re warm, handle mixed lighting well, and look more natural compared to Samsung&rsquo;s often oversaturated hues. The main camera&rsquo;s Sony sensor excels in low-light, but it sometimes creates an odd halo effect around people&rsquo;s heads.</p>
<p>Portraits are generally nice, though it can struggle a bit with some details like hair strands. The telephoto lens, offering up to 6x lossless zoom and even 120x digital zoom, is fun to play with, though it&rsquo;s best to stick with the 3x and 6x range for better results. The ultra-wide isn&rsquo;t as versatile but is great for macro shots.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I also really love the X Pan feature. I know it's been around on OnePlus phones before, but the wide image format and unique style it brings can really jazz up your regular shots, giving them a more cinematic vibe.</p>
<p>In terms of video recording, both the main and ultra wide cameras max out at 4K &nbsp;60fps. If you want to use the more robust stabilization mode, though, you'll need to switch down to 1080p. The video quality itself is pretty sharp, and there's not much of a white-balance shift, which is always a plus.&nbsp;</p>
<p>For selfies, there&rsquo;s a 32MP front camera on the cover screen and a 20MP camera on the &nbsp;inner display, both decent in good lighting conditions.</p>
<p>But for the best results, I suggest you use the phone's rear camera with the outer screen as your preview. You'll get way better resolution this way, making your selfies look super crisp and detailed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So, that's the entire lowdown on the OnePlus Open &ndash; it's got excellent cameras, amazing screens, a solid hinge, and feels more like a regular smartphone when it's closed.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Plus, it's ₹15,000 &nbsp;cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. and while that doesn't exactly put it in the 'budget' category, the Open definitely puts some heat on Samsung in the foldable phone market.</p>
<p>They'll definitely need to step up their game to convince us that their pricier models are worth the extra cash next time around.</p>
