The Pakistan high commission on Wednesday said it issued 84 visas to Indian pilgrims to visit the Shree Katas Raj temples in Punjab province's Chakwal district.
The group has been given visas to visit the Katas Raj temples from December 19 to 25.
The temples are also known as Qila Katas. It is a complex of several Hindu temples connected to one another by walkways.
Under the provision of a bilateral protocol on visits to religious shrines, Sikh and Hindu pilgrims from India visit Pakistan every year.Pakistani pilgrims also visit India every year under the protocol.
"The Pakistan high commission in New Delhi has issued 84 visas to a group of Indian pilgrims for their visit to the sacred Shree Katas Raj Temples in Chakwal district of Punjab," the Pakistani mission said.
Pakistan's Charge d'Affaires Saad Ahmad Warraich wished the pilgrims a "spiritually rewarding" and a "fulfilling" journey.
"Under the Pakistan-India protocol on visits to religious shrines of 1974, each year thousands of Sikh and Hindu pilgrims from India visit Pakistan to attend various religious festivals/occasions," the Pakistan high commission said.
"The issuance of pilgrimage visas is in line with the policy of the government of Pakistan to facilitate visits to religious shrines and promoting interfaith harmony," it said in a statement.

The development comes days after authorities booked 150 suspects and arrested 22 of them, mostly belonging to Khan's party, for allegedly propagating against the army on social media on the killings of the party workers in Islamabad on November 26.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) alleged that the journalists and vloggers fanned provincialism, supported the ongoing campaign to boycott army products and raised questions on the alleged killings of Khan's supporters during the November 26 protests.
The development comes days after authorities booked 150 suspects and arrested 22 of them, mostly belonging to Khan's party, for allegedly propagating against the army on social media on the killings of the party workers in Islamabad on November 26.
&ldquo;Cases have been registered under different sections of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) against journalists and vloggers, including first Sikh journalist/anchor Harmeet Singh, Ahmad Noorani, Imran Khatana, Rizwan Ahmad Khan, Salman Durani, Hussain Rafique, Ahmad Malik, Azhar Tariq Khan, Asif Bashir, Saraj Ahmad, Muhammad Arshad and Abdul Qadir,&rdquo; a senior FIA officer told PTI.
Female vlogger Aroosa Nadim, Komal Afridi and Maryam Shafqat Malik have also been booked, he said.
These journalists and vloggers have been issued notices to join the investigation, he said, adding, &ldquo;Those who do not join the investigation will be arrested.&rdquo;
Police from the Punjab province also arrested two social media activists from Rawalpindi and Muzaffarghar for urging, through Facebook accounts, to boycott products of the army welfare institutions.
According to the PTI, at least 12 party workers were killed and hundreds wounded when law enforcers opened fire on the protesters in Islamabad on November 26.
More than 10,000 protesters marched towards Islamabad's D-Chowk on November 26, defying a ban on public gatherings and a lockdown. As Khan's supporters inched towards the heavily barricaded venue, police and security forces used intense teargas shelling to disperse the protesters.
On Friday, the party termed it an &ldquo;Islamabad massacre&rdquo; and issued the list of those killed, injured and missing. It said 139 PTI workers have been missing since then.
The Shehbaz Sharif government had earlier denied that the law enforcers opened fire on the protesters and pledged to take strict action against those propagating on social media in this regard.
The government had formed a special task force headed by the FIA chief to nab such elements.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International has also demanded a transparent investigation of what it called the state&rsquo;s &ldquo;deadly crackdown&rdquo; to disperse PTI supporters from Islamabad&rsquo;s D-Chowk.
Condemning the violence, Amnesty said: &ldquo;Yet again, protesters in Pakistan have faced a brutal and lethal crackdown shrouded in a callous opacity by the authorities. Urgent and transparent investigation is needed into the deadly crackdown on protesters.&rdquo;

Amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state, Commissionerate Police (CP) Amritsar has successfully averted a possible grenade attack on a police establishment in Batala area with the arrest of 10 persons including four key operatives of cross-border terror module being operated by Pak-based Harvinder Rinda and foreign-based Happy Passian, Jeevan Fauji and Jashanpreet Singh alias Lal, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Friday.
The four arrested key operatives have been identified as Arjanpreet Singh of Awan Ramdas in Amritsar, Lovepreet Singh alias Love of Perhewal in Amritsar, Basant Singh and Amanpreet Singh alias Aman, both residents of Baba Bakala Sahib in Amritsar. While, the six handlers, who were involved in providing logistic support, have been identified as Barinderpal Singh alias Mani &nbsp;and Rajbir Singh alias Raju, both residents of Katle in Amritsar; Vishvas Masih alias Bhabbo of Bhaganpura in Amritsar; Dilpreet Singh alias Manna, Harjot Kumar alias Mithu and Joyal Masih alias Rohan alias Nony, trio residents of Dera Baba Nanak in Batala.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that police teams have also recovered three pistols&mdash; including two .30 bore and one .32 bore, one hand grenade and one drone from their possession. Further investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages in this case, he added.
Sharing more details, CP Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that acting on credible inputs about the module&rsquo;s activities, Amritsar Commissionerate has launched an intel-based operation and arrested all the accused persons from different areas including Ramdas area of Amritsar Rural, Batala and Amritsar City. Recoveries were effected from village Khana Chamara in Dera Baba Nanak, Village Awaan in Ramdas and Vallah area of Amritsar city, he added.
The CP said that with arrest of accused persons Basant Singh and Amanpreet Singh alias Aman, Amristar Commissionerate Police has also solved the case of an attack on a police officer&rsquo;s residence in Batala, which took place on November 28, 2024.&nbsp;
He said that police teams have also identified another main operative of this module and police teams are on manhunt to apprehend him.
A case FIR No. 191 dated 03.12.2024 has been registered under sections 111(1), 111(2), 111(3), 111(4), 249 and 253 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and sections 25(6) and 25(7) of the Arms Act at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar.

Experts say that the Sharif government is building a China-style internet firewall for surveillance and restrictions in the virtual realm.In its response the Pakistan government has played the confusion card. While Shaza Fatima, a junior minister of information and technology denied the claims, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif acknowledged that the system is undergoing a transition after which the facilities will be normalised. Fatima even blamed internet users in her country, saying the use of VPN was to be blamed for low internet speed.
But Shahzad Ahmad, director of local digital watchdog Bytes for All, told the BBC that his group has 'ample tech evident' to prove the existence of a firewall. Elaborating further, Khawaja did admit there will be some controls to prevent threatening and defamatory content against the state and individuals.
With its economy already in tatters, Pakistan Software Houses Association has said that the government's move could cost the IT sector up to $300 million and trigger a mass exodus of tech companies.
Since the protests sparked by Imran in 2023, the government blocked social media platforms as the battle for public support spilled over from the streets to the digital space.

According to a Times of India report, the move comes amid mounting pressure from China, particularly in view of recent attacks targeting Chinese interests in Pakistan.

Authorities in Karachi apprehended a trader on Saturday for allegedly selling sacrificial goats with plastic teeth in the Gulberg Chowrangi area, as reported by ARY News.
A circulating video on social media depicted a customer removing what appeared to be plastic teeth from one of the goats, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
The arrested trader, hailing from Hyderabad and in Karachi to sell animals for Eidul Adha, admitted under questioning by police that he was involved in the sale.
Police seized seven additional goats as part of their investigation into the incident, according to ARY News.
"The video circulating on social media provided us with vital information about the sale of goats with artificial teeth, leading to the trader's arrest," a police official clarified.
Eidul Adha, slated for June 17 following the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon on June 7, is a significant religious festival where Muslims commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's obedience to God by sacrificing animals. The meat from these sacrifices is traditionally shared with family and the less fortunate.
The tradition, rooted in the story of Prophet Ibrahimi, involves the sacrifice of animals over three days during Eid celebrations. Investigations into the case are ongoing, as authorities continue to look into the matter, ARY News reported.

It manged to achieve just 2.38 per cent GDP growth against the target of 3.5 per cent. However on the bright side, the population of donkeys continued to grow steadily. The Pakistan Economic Survey 2023-24 showed that the donkey population increased by around one lakh, taking the total to 59 lakh.
The data shows that the population of the "beasts of burden" was 5.5 million in 2019-2020, 5.6 million in 2020-21, 5.7 million in 2021-22, and 5.8 million in 2022-23, while it jumped to 5.9 million in 2023-24.

The return of tried and tested Babar Azam as captain for the T20 World Cup belies the massive changes in Pakistan cricket over the last 18 months.
Since Babar's team lost the T20 World Cup final to England in November 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board has had four chairmen, the selection panel has been overhauled, and the experiment with Shaheen Shah Afridi as skipper was quickly aborted.

All these off-the-field happenings have impacted Pakistan's preparations for the tournament.
They badly lost the away series to New Zealand, scraped to a drawn 2-2 series at home against the Black Caps and lost a T20 series against Afghanistan 2-1. A shock loss to Ireland in Dublin preceded back-to-back wins and 2-1 series result.
And so unpredictable Pakistan enter another world tournament as a team to watch because of their rich history in the T20 World Cup. They have featured in three finals, won the title in 2009, and also reached the semifinals three other times.
For this year, the Men in Green have fielded a pace-heavy team.

Meanwhile, another youngster Azam Khan has come under the scanner for his dismal performances in T20Is all year long.
In a total of 8 games, Khan has not gone past 30 while also failing to score a total of 100 runs across the innings.
It is crucial for Pakistan to get their top-order to fire once again as they prepare to face arch-rivals India in possibly the most important fixture of Group A.
On June 09, historic foes India and Pakistan will face-off in New York and depending on the rest of their match results, it could be a possible decider for Super 8 as well.

In a first, Sharif admits Pakistan's 'fault' in intrusion that led to Kargil war.

Former Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday admitted that Islamabad had "violated" an agreement with India signed by him and ex-prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1999, in an apparent reference to the Kargil misadventure by Gen Pervez Musharraf.
"On May 28, 1998, Pakistan carried out five nuclear tests. After that Vajpayee Saheb came here and made an agreement with us. But we violated that agreement...it was our fault," Sharif told a meeting of the PML-N general council that elected him president of the ruling party six years after he was disqualified by the Supreme Court.
Sharif and Vajpayee signed the Lahore Declaration on February 21, 1999, after a historic summit here. The agreement that talked about a vision of peace and stability between the two countries signalled a major breakthrough, but a few months later Pakistani intrusion in the Kargil district in Jammu and Kashmir led to the Kargil War.
"President Bill Clinton had offered Pakistan USD 5 billion to stop it from carrying out nuclear tests but I refused. Had (former prime minister) Imran Khan like a person been on my seat he would have accepted Clinton's offer," Sharif said on a day when Pakistan marked the 26th anniversary of its first nuclear tests.
Sharif, 74, talked about how he was removed from the office of the prime minister in 2017 on a false case by then chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar. He said all cases against him were false while the cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder leader Imran Khan were true.
He also talked about the role of former ISI chief Gen Zahirul Islam in toppling his government in 2017 to bring Imran Khan into power. He asked Imran Khan to deny that he was not launched by the ISI.
"I ask Imran not to blame us (of being patronised by the army) and tell whether Gen Islam had talked about bringing the PTI into power," he said and added Khan would sit at the feet of the military establishment.
The three-time premier talked about receiving a message from Gen Islam to resign from the office of prime minister (in 2014). "When I refused, he threatened to make an example of me," he said.
Sharif also praised his younger brother Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for standing by his side through thick and thin. "Efforts were made to create differences between us but Shehbaz remained loyal to me. Even Shehbaz was asked to become PM in the past and leave me but he declined," he said.
Sharif said after assuming the office of the PML-N President he would renew efforts to strengthen the party.&nbsp;

A mob led by radical Islamist Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan activists burned and ransacked the homes and properties of Christians.

Police in Pakistan's Punjab province on Sunday booked over 450 people and arrested 25 of them under terrorism and other charges for attacking members of the minority Christian community and police personnel on the issue of the alleged desecration of a religious book.
An enraged mob led by radical Islamist Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists on Saturday attacked the Christian community members in Mujahid Colony, Sargodha district of Punjab, some 200 kms from Lahore, and injured two Christians and 10 policemen. The mob burned and ransacked the homes and properties of Christians.
According to the FIR, over 450 people, 50 of them are nominated, surrounded the residence and shoe factory of Nazir Masih (an elderly Christian) accusing him of desecration of the religious book.
The mob set fire to the shoe factory, some shops and a couple of houses. "It also brutally torched Masih but timely arrival of a heavy contingent of police saved the life of Masih and 10 other members of the Christian community," the FIR says.
Although the family of Masih denied desecration of the religious book but the mob wanted to lynch him.
"The enraged mob pelted stones at police personnel when they resorted to baton charge to disperse it. At least 10 policemen including officers have been injured," it says.
A police statement said: &ldquo;There was no loss of life in the mob attack. More than 10 police officers and personnel have been injured due to stone pelting by the angry people. The police risked their lives to rescue the families and pulled them out of the crowd. Thanks to the timely action of the police, Sargodha is spared a great tragedy." "The situation in the city is completely peaceful and under control," it said.
It added that the injured Christian, Nazir, has been shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Sargodha for treatment. Police said that a case will be instituted against Nazir if he is found guilty of desecration of the religious book.
The Punjab police said currently over 2,000 policemen have been deployed in Sargodha Mujahid Colony to maintain law and order.
On Saturday, a number of video clips of mob attacks on the properties of Christian community were doing the rounds on social media.
Ifran Gill Masih, a relative of Nazir Masih, told PTI that his uncle had returned from Dubai after four years.
He said some people in the locality falsely accused him of desecration of the holy book. He said the Christian families saved their lives by locking themselves inside their houses when the mob marched towards them. He said the environment has been tense in the area and the Christians are terrified.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) said it was seriously concerned by the unfolding situation in Sargodha, where the Christian community in Gillwala village is reportedly at grave risk to their lives at the hands of charged mobs.
Last year at least 24 churches and over 80 houses belonging to Christians in Jaranwala tehsil of Faisalabad district, some 130 km from the provincial capital, were burnt down by a mob enraged over reports that two Christians had desecrated the Quran.&nbsp;
