The Supreme Court once again came down heavily on Patanjali Ayurved owners Ramdev and his Balkrishna in the misleading ads case.
As per media reports, while hearing the case on April 23, Patanjali Ayurved told the apex court it had published apology in 67 newspapers, saying their mistakes would not be repeated.
The Supreme Court however questioned if the apology was issued in a manner similar to its full-page advertisements.
'Has the apology been published prominently? Same font and size as your earlier advertisements?', the Court asked Patanjali Ayurved representatives as per media reports.&nbsp;

The court posted the matter for further hearing on April 23 and asked Ramdev and Balkrishna to remain present in court.

The apex court granted them one-week time to issue a public statement. The court has posted the matter for further hearing on Apr 23 and asked Ramdev and Balkrishna to remain present in court.
&nbsp;"We are not saying at this stage we are letting them off the hook," SC bench tells yoga guru Ramdev's counsel.
"I am willing to give a public apology," senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Ramdev and Balkrishna, told a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah.
The apex court asked Ramdev and Balkrishna, both of whom were present in the court, to come forward for an interaction with the bench.
"They should feel they have a connect with the court," the bench said.
A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah took note of their apologies, but made it clear that at this stage it has not decided to "let them off the hook".
"You are doing good work but you can't degrade allopathy," the bench told Balkrishna while interacting with him.
Ramdev, who also interacted with the bench, said he had no intention to show disrespect to the court in any manner.
However, the bench told Balkrishna that they (Patanjali) are not so innocent that they didn't know what the top court had said in its earlier orders in the case.
"I am willing to give a public apology," senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Ramdev and Balkrishna, told the bench at the outset.
The apex court asked Ramdev and Balkrishna, both of whom were present in the court, to come forward for an interaction with the bench. "They should feel they have a connect with the court," the bench said.
Ramdev and Balkrishna had last week tendered an "unconditional and unqualified apology" before the top court over advertisements issued by the firm making tall claims about the medicinal efficacy of its products.
In two separate affidavits filed in the court, Ramdev and Balkrishna have tendered an unqualified apology for the "breach of the statement" recorded in the November 21 last year order of the apex court.

"We don't want to be so generous in this case," a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah said during the hearing.
Ramdev and Balkrishna had tendered an "unconditional and unqualified apology" before the apex court over advertisements issued by the firm making tall claims about the medicinal efficacy of its products.
In two separate affidavits filed in the court, Ramdev and Balkrishna have tendered an unqualified apology for the "breach of the statement" recorded in the November 21 last year order of the apex court.
In the November 21, 2023 order, the top court had noted that counsel representing Patanjali Ayurved had assured it that "henceforth there shall not be any violation of any law(s), especially relating to advertising or branding of products manufactured and marketed by it and, further, that no casual statements claiming medicinal efficacy or against any system of medicine will be released to the media in any form".
The top court had said Patanjali Ayurved Ltd is "bound down to such assurance".
The non-observance of the specific assurance and the subsequent media statements irked the apex court, which later issued notice to them to show cause as to why contempt proceedings be not initiated against them.&nbsp;

In June 2020, when thousands died of COVID-19 everyday, Patanjali released Coronil and claimed the herbal concoction was a cure for the disease. The Haridwar-based company courted a row last year for allegedly using Cuttlefish extracts in a toothpaste that was marked vegetarian.
Patanjali was also in a tussle with Indian food safety regulators, which accused the company of printing forged licence numbers on packets of instant noodles.
The Supreme Court came down hard on the company for its &ldquo;absolute defiance&rdquo; in not filing proper affidavits of compliance in the misleading advertisement case and breaking "every barrier".
The top court wondered as to why the Centre &ldquo;chose to keep its eyes shut when Patanjali was going to town saying there were no remedies for COVID in allopathy&rdquo;.
Last month, Patanjali MD Acharya Balkrishna had tendered an unqualified apology to the apex court for advertising the herbal products of the firm claiming their medicinal efficacy in treating several serious diseases and running down other systems of medicine.

Patanjali Ayurved tendered an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court on Wednesday for the company's misleading advertisements on their products and their medicinal efficacy.
The affidavit on behalf of Patanjali Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna was filed in response to a show cause notice asking why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated for for prima facie violating the undertaking given to the court on November 21, 2023.
A bench of justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah on Tuesday came down heavily on the company for failing to reply to the contempt notice, and directed yoga guru Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna to appear before it personally.
A day after apex court rap, Balkrishna issued an "unqualified apology", and said he would "ensure that such advertisements are not issued in the future".
Balkrishna said he &ldquo;regrets that the advertisement in question which was meant to contain only general statements inadvertently included the offending sentences&rdquo;.
The affidavit clarified that the company's &ldquo;intention is only to exhort the citizens of this country to lead a healthier life by consuming products... including products for lifestyle ailments through the use age old literature and materials supplementing and backed by ayurvedic research.&rdquo;
Notably, Balkrishna called the provisions of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, "archaic," and passed when "scientific evidence in Ayurveda research were lacking".&nbsp;
Patanjali, the affidavit said, now has "evidence-based scientific data with clinical research" that would demonstrate the advances made.
The notices were issued in a plea by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) alleging a smear campaign by Ramdev against the vaccination drive and modern medicines.

The Supreme Court of India delivered a stringent warning to Patanjali Ayurveda, co-founded by Baba Ramdev, demanding an immediate halt to "misleading advertisements." Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Prashant Kumar Mishra presiding over the case affirmed that any product making false cure claims would be slapped with a staggering ₹1 crore penalty.
This admonishment came during the court's hearing of petitions filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). Justice Amanullah emphasized, "All such false and misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurveda have to stop immediately." The court expressed grave concern over misleading medical advertisements and warned of severe repercussions for any breach.
The bench clarified its stance, indicating a desire not to escalate the matter into an "Allopathy v. Ayurveda" debate but aimed to address the menace of misleading medical advertising. Stressing the gravity of the issue, the court directed the Union Government to devise effective solutions following consultations. The case is set to reconvene on February 5, 2024, for further deliberations.

The IMA's petition also accused Patanjali of fueling vaccine hesitancy by spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines. Additionally, Ramdev faced criticism for allegedly mocking citizens seeking oxygen cylinders during the second wave.
Earlier in February, Ramdev sparked controversy by suggesting a surge in cancer cases post the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking at a Patanjali Yog Samiti yoga camp in Goa, he claimed, "Cancer has increased a lot...People have lost their eyesight, their sense of hearing..." Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant shared the stage with Ramdev.

On Thursday, Patanjali Foods informed that leading bourses BSE and NSE had frozen shares of its 21 promoter entities, including Patanjali Ayurved for failing to meet minimum public shareholding norms.
In a filing, PFL said its promoters are "fully committed" to achieving the minimum public shareholding and discussions are going on for this.
"We have received a communication from our promoters that they are fully committed to the mandatory compliance of achieving minimum public shareholding. They have been discussing various modes best suited for increasing public shareholding. They are confident of achieving mandatory MPS within the next few months," it said.

The DMA said in its petition that Ramdev's company Patanjali is propagating false information about its Coronil kit that it is a cure for Covid-19. Ramdev, who is the founder of Patanjali Group, is in the eye of the storm over comments against the allopathic system of medicine, including coronavirus vaccines. The high court also asked Ramdev's counsel orally to tell him not to make any provocative statement till the next date of hearing on July 13 and respond to the suit.
