Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on April 11 to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 44 projects worth ₹3,880 crore, with a focus on urban and rural development, education, and power infrastructure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on April 11, where he will address a public gathering and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 44 projects worth Rs 3,880 crore.
Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma said among the projects to be inaugurated are schemes focused on rural development, including 130 drinking water projects, 100 new Anganwadi centres, 356 libraries, a polytechnic college in Pindra, and a government degree college.
The prime minister will also inaugurate a transit hostel at the Police Lines and police barracks in Ramnagar and four rural roads, he said.
Focusing on urban development, Modi will inaugurate projects at Shastri Ghat and Samne Ghat, along with various beautification projects carried out by the Railways and the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA).
Among the projects for which foundation stones will be laid, 25 are worth Rs 2,250 crore, with a major focus on strengthening the city's electricity infrastructure. This includes the construction of 15 new substations, installation of new transformers, and laying of 1,500 km of new power lines.
A new 220 kV substation will also come up near Chaukaghat, aiming to provide a 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply.
Sharma said infrastructure projects related to the airport are also on the agenda, including the laying of a tunnel for its expansion.
The prime minister will lay the foundation stone for three new flyovers as well as various road widening initiatives and school renovation work and two stadiums in Shivpur and UP College.
Modi will also address a public meeting in Rohaniya's Mehndiganj.
Considering the summer heat and traffic, Modi's event will be held on the Ring Road, outside the city limits, to ensure ease of access for the rural population. The event will take place in the morning, allowing attendees to return home before afternoon, he said.
Police Commissioner Mohit Agrawal and ADG Security Raghuveer Lal informed during a pre-briefing at the Cantt camp office that six SPs, eight additional SPs, 33 COs, and around 4,000 personnel from police, PAC, and paramilitary forces will be deployed for the prime minister&rsquo;s security.
Entry to the event venue will be strictly after proper checking and frisking, including on VIP routes. Temporary parking zones will be made near the event site.
Rooftop deployment will be ensured along the VIP route and surrounding areas, with surveillance through CCTV and drone cameras.
Police personnel have been instructed to avoid using mobile phones at duty points and to report in full uniform with ID and duty cards. Stringent adherence to PM's security protocol has been mandated, and ropes will be used to control the crowd.
The police have also been directed to maintain polite behaviour with attendees, officials said.
BJP City President Pradeep Agrahari said that the PM will stay in Varanasi for about two and a half hours.
"Party workers will welcome the PM with blowing of conches, drums and showering flowers at many places. Hoarding and posters have been put up in the city to welcome him," he said.

Asiatic lions currently inhabit approximately 30,000 square kilometers across 53 talukas in nine districts of Gujarat. The state government has implemented several conservation initiatives to protect these majestic creatures and other wildlife species.&nbsp;
As part of a national effort, a National Referral Center for Wildlife is being set up on over 20.24 hectares of land in New Pipalya, Junagadh district. In 2024, 237 new beat guards (162 men and 75 women) were recruited in Gir to patrol protected areas and ensure the safety of lion habitats. Gujarat's conservation efforts for Asiatic lions have been significantly shaped by the initiatives of Narendra Modi during his tenure as the state's Chief Minister.&nbsp;
In 2007, he personally visited the Gir forest to assess ground realities and spearheaded transformative projects for the holistic development of the region, lion conservation, and biodiversity preservation.
The concept of Bruhad Gir, introduced by Modi, expanded conservation beyond the Gir National Park to cover a vast 30,000 sq. km area from Barda to Botad, where Asiatic lions are found. This initiative not only ensured the protection of wildlife but also focused on the welfare and progress of local communities.
World Wildlife Day, observed annually on March 3, was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013 to raise awareness about the world's wild fauna and flora.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday likened the massive Maha Kumbh congregation to the newly awakened consciousness of a nation breathing freely after breaking the shackles of a slavery mindset.&nbsp;
"The Maha Kumbh has concluded. The 'mahayagna' of unity has concluded," he wrote in a blog, a day after the mega religious exercise concluded.
PM Modi said more devotees than were ever imagined took the holy dip in Sangam, asserting that India is now forging ahead with new energy and that this points to a change of era which will write a new future for India.&nbsp;
The prime minister offered apology to "Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, Mother Saraswati" as well as people, who he said are a form of God to him, for any shortcoming in the services rendered.
He noted that making such a massive arrangement was not easy. At least 30 devotees had died during a stampede at the Maha Kumbh, which drew devotees in huge numbers from across the country.&nbsp;
The Uttar Pradesh government has said that over 65 crore people visited the sacred site in Prayagraj since the Maha Kumbh began on January 13.&nbsp;

Everyone, be it sanitation staff, police personnel, boatmen, drivers and cooks, made it a success by working relentlessly with a sense of devotion and service, he said, praising residents of Prayagraj as well.&nbsp;
He asserted that what has never happened in the past few decades happened this time. "It has laid the foundation for many coming centuries," he added.&nbsp;
The number of devotees who reached Maha Kumbh has definitely made a record, he said, adding that people almost double the US population in numbers took the holy dip.&nbsp;
The administration had made its estimate based on the experience of previous Kumbhs, he said, noting that the real numbers turned out to be more than imagined.&nbsp;
The prime minister said it was a very pleasant experience for him to see young devotees attending the holy congregation in large numbers.&nbsp;
"This boosts the faith that India's young generation is the carrier of our values and culture, and understand its responsibility in taking it forward. They are committed to it," he said.

During the meeting held on Wednesday, the Chief Minister told Modi that the previous government in its 10-year tenure had failed to prioritise the expansion of the metro rail in Hyderabad, an official release said.
Reddy briefed the PM on the proposed second phase of the metro rail project, which includes a 76.4 km stretch with five corridors at an estimated cost of Rs 24,269 crore and urged for the immediate approval of this ambitious project.
Since Telangana is a landlocked state, the CM requested Modi to sanction a Dry Port near the Regional Ring Road in Hyderabad to facilitate exports and imports of goods.
The CM also proposed a greenfield road along with a rail line to connect the Dry Port to a seaport.
Outlining the state government's plans for rejuvenation of Musi river in Hyderabad, Reddy urged Modi to extend Rs 20,000 crore financial assistance for the project.
The Musi project includes the development of Bapu Ghat, a memorial for Mahatma Gandhi in the city on the banks of Musi river, construction of 27 STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants), retaining walls and linking the Musi with Godavari river, it said.
Highlighting the ecosystem in the state, the Chief Minister requested Modi to sanction a 'India Semiconductor Mission project'.
Besides, the CM appealed to Modi to approve the southern part of Regional Ring Road (RRR) in Hyderabad and said 90 percent of the land acquisition has already been completed in the northern part.
The CM asserted that the RRR can be best utilised only if the RRR works in the southern and northern parts are completed simultaneously.
He also explained the proposal to develop a Regional Ring Rail project parallel to the RRR which would boost railway connectivity in Telangana and neighbouring states.

The prime minister&rsquo;s visit to the US at the invitation of President Trump shows the &ldquo;importance of India-US partnership and is also reflective of the bipartisan support that this partnership enjoys in the US&rdquo;, Foreign Secretary said Vikram Misri said here in a briefing on February 7.
Modi will also interact with business leaders and members of the Indian community in the US.
PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with President Trump in both restricted and delegation-level formats, he said.
A range of bilateral issues are expected to be on the table besides, besides discussions on regional and international situation.
&ldquo;There is an obvious convergence of interests between the two countries in a number of areas &mdash; trade, investment, technology, defence cooperation, counterterrorism, Indo-Pacific security, and of course, people-to-people relations,&rdquo; the FS said in the briefing.
The visit is also expected to boost people-to-people ties between India and the US.
&ldquo;The 5.4 million-strong Indian community in the US and the more than 3,50,000 students from India who are pursuing studies in universities strengthen this bond immeasurably,&rdquo; Misri said.
&ldquo;The prime minister&rsquo;s visit to the United States will give further direction and momentum to this important partnership. We expect a joint statement to be adopted at the end of the visit and will share that in due course,&rdquo; the foreign secretary said.
This will be Modi&rsquo;s first visit since the inauguration of the second presidential term of Trump on January 20.
&ldquo;After President Trump&rsquo;s inauguration, the prime minister called to wish him, and it was on that occasion they agreed to meet very soon, and that is the promise and the commitment that is now unfolding,&rdquo; he said.

"Delhi's mandate also clarified that there is no place for shortcuts or lies and deception in politics. Janata ne short cut rajneeti ka short circuit kar diya (People have short-circuited the politics of shortcut)," PM Modi said while addressing a gathering at the party's headquarters after the resounding victory in assembly polls.
<h3>BJP's Return to Power</h3>
BJP has won 48 seats, while AAP has won just 22 seats against 62 in the 2020 assembly polls.
The BJP is returning to power in the national capital after 27 years, ending over 10 years of Aam Aadmi Party rule.
Several AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and three-time MLA Somnath Bharti, lost from their strongholds.
<h3>Criticism of AAP's Politics</h3>
The PM slammed the AAP's politics of "protests, confrontation, and administrative uncertainty."
"Today, you Delhiites have removed a major obstacle in the way of Delhi's development," PM Modi added
. Lashing out at AAP, he said, "The real owner of Delhi is only the people of Delhi. Those who thought of being the owners of Delhi have been confronted with the truth."
<h3>PM Modi on Anna Hazare</h3>
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Anna Hazare must have got some relief from pain following AAP's defeat in the Delhi Assembly election. He added that Hazare had been "bearing the pain of the misdeeds of these people for a long time."
Earlier in the day, Anna Hazare had criticised AAP for their alleged involvement in controversies surrounding liquor and money.
PM Modi said AAP was born out of the movement against corruption but became deeply involved in it.
"The party born out of the movement against corruption got involved in corruption. It became such a party of the country whose Chief Minister and Ministers went to jail on corruption charges. Those who used to give themselves certificates of honesty turned out to be corrupt. This was a big betrayal with Delhi," PM Modi said.

<h3>AAP's Scams and Arrogance</h3>
PM Modi further attacked AAP, stating that the liquor scam had defamed Delhi. "The scams in schools and hospitals troubled the poorest of the poor, and on top of that, their arrogance was so much that when the world was dealing with Corona, these people were building 'Sheesh Mahal'."
Earlier, Anna Hazare had said that AAP did not understand the importance of character in politics, which led to their downfall.
He remarked, "They got tangled in liquor and money - his (Arvind Kejriwal's) image was dented because of it and that's why they are getting fewer votes in the election."

"These AAP-da people resorted to conspiracies every day to hide their scams. Now, the Delhi poll verdict has come. Union Minister and TDP leader K Rammohan Naidu said the massive mandate reflected the public&rsquo;s confidence in a government that delivers on its commitments.

The Indian government has confirmed the identities of the 487 migrants currently on the deportation list.
Earlier, a U.S. military aircraft carrying 104 deported migrants arrived in Amritsar on January 5, marking the first major deportation under President Donald Trump's administration as part of his crackdown on illegal immigration.
The deportees, who had attempted to enter the U.S. illegally, reported that their hands and legs were shackled throughout the flight and were only unbound after arriving in Amritsar.
Regarding concerns over the "inhumane treatment" of Indian deportees, Misri acknowledged that it was a "valid concern" and confirmed that the Indian government would address the issue with U.S. authorities.
"The description by the EAM of the standard operating procedure relating to the use of restraints has been communicated to us by U.S. authorities, including immigration and customs enforcement. EAM attracted attention to the fact that these practices have been in place for a long period," he added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for a two-day working visit to the U.S. beginning February 12, where he will meet with President Donald Trump.

The Prime Minister also compared the BJP's model of development with that of Congress, stating that while the BJP focuses on "nation first," the Congress is centered around "Family first," referring to the Gandhi family.&nbsp;
"Expecting 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' from Congress would be a huge mistake. It is beyond their thinking, and it also doesn't suit their roadmap because the whole party is dedicated only to one family," PM Modi remarked.
In a critique of the Congress&rsquo;s approach to governance, PM Modi highlighted his government&rsquo;s focus on "santushtikaran" (satisfaction) instead of "tushtikaran" (appeasement).&nbsp;
"After 2014, India got an alternate model of governance. This model is not focused on appeasement, but on satisfaction," he said, pointing to the contrast with the Congress party's policies.
Focusing on Rahul Gandhi&rsquo;s push for a caste census, the Prime Minister warned of attempts to spread caste-based divisions in society.&nbsp;
"For many years, OBC MPs from all parties had been demanding Constitutional status for the OBC panel. But their demand was rejected, as it might not have suited their (Congress) politics. But we gave constitutional status to this panel," he said.
PM Modi also responded to opposition attacks on the BJP&rsquo;s alleged attempts to undermine the Constitution, claiming that it was Congress that "hated" Dr. BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. He criticized the Congress for denying Ambedkar the Bharat Ratna and for attempting to defeat him in elections.&nbsp;
"It is well documented how much anger and hatred Congress had towards Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar. They never considered Baba Saheb worthy of the Bharat Ratna award. The party also tried to defeat Ambedkar twice in elections. But today, due to compulsions, they have to raise the slogan of 'Jai Bheem'," PM Modi said.&nbsp;
In the 1952 Lok Sabha election, Ambedkar lost to Congress&rsquo;s Narayan Kajrolkar, and he was defeated again in the 1954 by-election in Bhandara.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's annual interactive program, Pariksha Pe Charcha, is set to return this year in a fresh format, incorporating a broader range of influential personalities to engage with students preparing for board examinations.&nbsp;
The event, organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy, will take place at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital and will be conducted in a town hall-style format.
This year's edition will feature notable figures from various fields, including Deepika Padukone, Mary Kom, Avani Lekhara, Rujuta Divekar, Sonali Sabharwal, FoodPharmer, Vikrant Massey, Bhumi Pednekar, Technical Guruji, and Radhika Gupta. Their participation aims to inspire and empower students, providing them with guidance beyond academics.
Since its inception in 2018, Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) has evolved into a nationwide movement, transforming exam-related stress into a celebration of learning.&nbsp;
The initiative has witnessed remarkable growth, with the 8th edition in 2025 registering an unprecedented 3.56 crore participants&mdash;a significant jump from 2.26 crore registrations in the previous edition, marking an increase of 1.3 crore.
Over the years, PPC has transitioned from being just an interactive session to a full-fledged Jan Andolan (people&rsquo;s movement), resonating with students, teachers, and parents alike. Its core message of treating exams as a festival (Utsav) has gained widespread acceptance, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being and holistic education.
In a bid to further strengthen PPC&rsquo;s reach, a series of engaging activities were conducted nationwide from January 12, 2025 (National Youth Day) to January 25, 2025 (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti).&nbsp;
These activities, held across schools in different states and union territories, encouraged participation from students, parents, and teachers, reinforcing the idea of making exams stress-free.
A total of 1.42 crore students, 12.81 lakh teachers, and 2.94 lakh schools took part in these initiatives. The events included traditional sports like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, short-distance marathons, creative meme contests, street plays (Nukkad Natak), poster-making competitions, and student-led discussions.&nbsp;
Additionally, yoga and meditation sessions were held to help students cultivate mindfulness and relaxation ahead of their exams. Schools also organized workshops, plays, and guest lectures featuring experts who shared valuable insights on handling academic pressure.
Since 2018, PM Modi has used this platform to interact directly with students, parents, and teachers, offering practical tips to remain stress-free during board exams. The first three editions of PPC were held in New Delhi in an interactive town hall format.&nbsp;
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth edition was conducted virtually and telecast on Doordarshan and major TV channels. The program then returned to the town hall format, with the fifth, sixth, and seventh editions hosted at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi.
With its growing popularity and increasing participation, Pariksha Pe Charcha continues to serve as a unique initiative, encouraging students to approach exams with confidence and a positive mindset.

"I have heard in Delhi, they (AAP government) do not allow children to go further after class 9. Only those children who are guaranteed to pass are allowed to go. Because if their result is bad, their government's reputation will be ruined. That is why very dishonest work is done," he stated.
At a public rally in RK Puram, Delhi, on Sunday, the Prime Minister spoke about the upcoming "new spring of development" in the city with the arrival of a BJP-led government.&nbsp;
"In a few days, a new spring of development will arrive in Delhi. This time, the BJP government is about to form in Delhi. The 'AAP-da party' has wasted 11 years. My biggest request is that we should be given a chance to serve the people of Delhi. I promise to go to any length to remove every difficulty you face. A double-engine government will come to Delhi that will make the lives of every poor and middle-class family prosperous," he added.
PM Modi also promised several initiatives for Delhi&rsquo;s residents, including Rs 5 nutritious meals for slum dwellers, the creation of a welfare board for auto drivers and domestic workers, and continued support for existing welfare schemes.&nbsp;
"A welfare board will be set up for auto drivers and domestic workers, providing them with insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh. The BJP government will also assist with children's school fees. I give another guarantee: these AAP-Da people are spreading falsehoods, but not a single slum in Delhi will be demolished. The welfare schemes for the public in Delhi will not be stopped," he declared.
With the Delhi Assembly elections taking place on February 5 and results expected on February 8, the city is set to witness a three-way contest between the BJP, Congress, and AAP.
