In Uttara Kannada, district officials have adopted 358 pregnant women as part of an initiative to reduce maternal mortality, providing comprehensive care.

In a move to reduce the death rate of women during and post-pregnancy, the district officials of Uttara Kannada have adopted 358 pregnant women. For the uninitiated, this is a part of the initiative to provide the highest care to expectant mother and their newborns.&nbsp;
In the initiative, the senior officials of the Uttara Kannada district administration adopt pregnant woman who are registered under the national health mission scheme.
Uttara Kannada deputy commissioner Gangubai Mankar talked about this initiative and said that the officials of various departments have, on their own, adopted one pregnant woman each to take care of them until post-childbirth.&nbsp;
She further said, "Right from the early pregnancy period, Anganwadi and ASHA workers visit them on regular intervals, take them to the hospitals, provide Tayi Card (mother card that records every health-related matter until delivery), supply prescribed medicine and recommended food grain until the women return to their routine life post the childbirth."

At least 22 students of a government school have been suspended for assaulting a pregnant teacher in Assam's Dibrugarh.
The students allegedly attacked the teacher after she highlighted a student's poor performance in studies to his parents.
According to Times of India report, a mob of about 40-50 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya assaulted the teacher because they were unhappy over her complaint to a student's guardian.
The victim teacher was saved by her colleagues.
School principal Rathees Kumar took action against 22 students from classes X &amp; XI whom he referred to as main 'perpetrators' from the lot of 40-50 students allegedly involved in the attack, the report added.
Kumar told TOI that the students also abused other teachers and brought liquor on the campus.

Greenery is not only soothing to the eyes but is also beneficial. And, now a new study suggests that even virtual exposure to greenery is good for pregnant women.&nbsp;
A research team from the University of California, US, conducted the study on 63 healthy pregnant women. During the research, pregnant women were shown three five-minute-long, 360-degree videos of urban environments: one showed a park-like setting, the second video had a street view with green space, and the third featured a street view without green space.
In that, they found that the virtual exposure to an environment filled with greenery &nbsp;was associated with lower systolic blood pressure, reduced salivary alpha-amylase (an indicator of stress), improved positive emotions and decreased negative emotions in comparison to the non-green space environment.
Besides this, the study also found that exposure to greenery reduces the risk of mortality, Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.&nbsp;

The infant, as per an NDTV report, died hours after birth, and the hospital has ordered inquiry into the matter.
The November 21 incident was brought to notice by an NGO associated with National Aids Control Organization. One of the officers from the NGO got the woman admitted at the medical college claiming that none of the doctors operated her for hours, and she was in pain till late evening.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, hospital-in-charge Sangeeta Aneja claimed that the family didn't inform about the woman being an HIV patient.
She also claimed that regular tests were performed on the patient and later when doctors found out about her HIV+ status, they continued to treat her.
Aneja, however, added that action will be taken if anyone is found at fault.

As of now, pregnant women have been advised against taking the Covid-19 vaccine in India, since no trials have included pregnant and lactating mothers.
But in some good news, new evidence from the US on&nbsp;Covid-19 vaccination finds that&nbsp;Pfizer&rsquo;s and&nbsp;Moderna&rsquo;s jabs were safe for the women as well as their babies.&nbsp;The researchers found no &ldquo;obvious safety signals&rdquo; among any of the more than 35,000 women&nbsp;who were followed in the peer-reviewed study.&nbsp;
