PM Modi is attending the 50th G7 Summit on the invitation of Italian President Georgia Meloni.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met his British counterpart Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Bari, Italy.
Modi is is believed to have discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interests with Sunak. They last met in person at the G20 Summit in New Delhi last September, when they had agreed to accelerate the FTA talks with the hope of signing off before India's general election.
However, the trade talks are now expected to resume only after a new UK government is elected on July 4.
The India-UK FTA negotiations, which opened in January 2022, are aimed at significantly enhancing bilateral trade &ndash; currently worth around 38.1 billion pounds a year as per official statistics from earlier this year.&nbsp;
Strategic partnership including in areas of defence, nuclear and space were top of the agenda when Modi met Macron.
"The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the partnership including in areas of defence, nuclear, space, education, climate action, digital public infrastructure, critical technologies, connectivity and culture. They also exchanged views on key global and regional issues," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X.
The two leaders last met in January when the French President visited India to attend the 75th Republic Day of India.
During their last meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their shared vision for bilateral cooperation and international partnership, outlined in Horizon 2047 and other documents from the July 2023 Summit.
Horizon 2047 Roadmap sets an ambitious and broad-ranging course for the bilateral relationship for 2047, the centenary year of India&rsquo;s independence.
Modi is attending the 50th G7 Summit on the invitation of Italian President Georgia Meloni and will address an Outreach session on Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa and the Mediterranean alongside leaders of other invited countries and Pope Francis.&nbsp;

This is the story of two campaigns.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has centred its attack on the opposition INDIA alliance, especially the Congress, by calling out what they call 'dynastic politics'.
The Congress led (in effect) by the Gandhi family, the Samajwadi Party led by Mulayam Singh Yadav's heir, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of Lalu Prasad Yadav's family, the Trinamool Congress that Mamata Banerjee is all but ready to hand over to nephew Abhishek, the DMK run by M Karunanidhi's children, the Thackerays of the Shiv Sena and the Pawars of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are the largest constituents of the INDIA bloc.
But the ruling party argues that political dynasties and family-driven parties have no place in a democracy.

On the one hand, Modi has called into question the policies and achievements of Rahul's great-grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru, grandmother Indira Gandhi and father Rajiv Gandhi &mdash; all former prime ministers of India. On the other hand, the BJP has called attention to the Congress leader's supposed lack of political acumen &mdash; even mocking him with the nickname 'pappu' &mdash; suggesting that his only qualification is the Gandhi surname.

BJP leaders, and the prime minister himself, have repeatedly pointed to Modi's humble beginnings as a 'chai wala (tea seller)'. The launch of his political journey as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) 'karyakarta', and the story of his rise through the ranks of the BJP to become a three-time chief minister of Gujarat, and now, a two-time prime minister, is one befitting a charismatic leader.
Earlier this year, the BJP even launched a 'Modi ka pariwar' campaign in response to Lalu Yadav's jibe that Modi opposes family-led politics because he himself does not have a family.
But as the high-octane campaigning for the 2024 Lok Sabha election rages on, Congress has decided to take the bull by the horn, in an attempt to turn the narrative around.
Rahul, along with sister Priyanka and mother Sonia, is leaning into the Gandhi pedigree.
When faced with Modi's allegations that the Congress would confiscate the people's savings in gold, and snatch away women's 'mangalsutras', in order to redistribute wealth to the Muslims, Priyanka is quick to respond. "My mother&rsquo;s mangalsutra&nbsp;was sacrificed for this country," she says, referring to the assassination of her father Rajiv Gandhi. Speaking to the crowded rally, Priyanka adds that "Indira Gandhi donated her gold when there was war."
The Gandhi siblings don't tire of reminiscing the days of Indira and Rajiv when addressing voters of Amethi and Raebareli.
"Our family has a 100-year relationship with Amethi, Raebareli," Rahul says in a campaign video released on YouTube. In a conversation with Sonia, he goes on to narrate the electoral history of the two constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, that goes hand-in-hand with the four-generation-long legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
"Amethi and Raebareli are equally dear to me," says the former Amethi MP contesting from Raebareli this time.

Former Editor of 'The Hindu' newspaper N Ram, former Supreme Court judge Madan Lokur and former Delhi High Court Chief Justice A P Shah urged the two leaders to participate in a public debate on a non-commercial and non-partisan platform.
"A public debate such as this would, therefore, set a great precedent, not just by educating the public, but also in projecting the true image of a healthy and vibrant democracy," the letter said.
The three urged Modi and Gandhi to nominate a representative for the debate if either of them is unavailable to participate.&nbsp;

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at the opposition for teasing the majority community by displaying videos of consuming meat during the month of Sawan, the Congress Friday said he is panicky ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress also accused the prime minister of trying to find a new diversion every day.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the prime minister's non-stop politicking is infantile and tiresome and claimed that the BJP is lagging behind in the polls as it was yet to put together its manifesto while the Congress has already declared one and is reaching out to the people.
Ramesh's reaction came after Prime Minister Modi, at a poll rally in Jammu and Kashmir, compared the mindset of the Congress and its allies with that of the Mughals, who he said used to derive pleasure from vandalising the temples.
He accused them of teasing the majority community by displaying videos of consuming meat during the month of Sawan to consolidate their vote banks.
"Unlike the prime minister, we have not tracked which leader ate what in which month. Here are the nutrition data points that we are tracking instead," Ramesh said in a post on X.
He said anaemia is caused by several factors, including iron deficiency, inadequate diet and other nutrient deficiencies. Between 2015-16 and 2019-21, anaemia in children under five increased by nearly 10 percentage points, he said, adding that among women aged 15 to 19, the prevalence of anaemia increased by 9.2 per cent.
In the PM's home state of Gujarat, a shocking eight out of ten children under five were found to be anaemic, he said.
"A Rs 4000-crore scheme to include breakfast for school-going children in the mid-day meal programme was vetoed by the finance ministry due to a lack of funds," he alleged.
Ramesh said the Global Health Indicator (GHI) report shows India's child wasting rate at 18.7 per cent, the highest among countries on its index. The child stunting rate is 35.5 per cent, the 15th highest in the world, he said, adding that malnutrition remains widespread under the Modi 'Sarkar', and has even gotten worse according to several data indicators.
"Every day the Prime Minister provides us with a new example of his sick mindset. The Prime Minister&rsquo;s non-stop politicking is infantile and tiresome. A week before the first phase of polls, the BJP has barely put together a manifesto committee," he said.
Meanwhile, he continued, the Congress has published its manifesto, launched its door-to-door campaign to distribute their guarantee cards to every household and started its advertisement campaign.
"We are setting the agenda and taking our message to the masses. A panicky Prime Minister is trying to find a new diversion every day," Ramesh claimed.
Referring to some leaders consuming meat in the month of Sawan and making its video viral, Modi said, "In the month of Sawan, they went to the house of a person who was handed a punishment by a court and is on bail and cherished the taste of mutton. They made a video of it to tease the people of the country." "During the month of Sawan, a person who was convicted, who is on bail, someone went to this kind of a criminal... During Sawan, they enjoyed eating mutton. Not just this, they made a video and worked to tease the people of India," he said, referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's house.
Modi said neither any law nor him prevents anyone from eating anything.
"Everyone is free to eat vegetarian or non-vegetarian food. But they had different intentions. The Mughals used to get satisfaction by vandalising temples, not by defeating kings. They used to derive pleasure out of it.
"Likewise, they tease the people of the country by releasing such videos in the month of Sawan and consolidate their vote banks," the prime minister alleged.
He said during Navratri, eating non-vegetarian food and highlighting it hurt the feelings of the people.
"These people will resort to abusing me and targeting me for saying this. But when it is beyond the point of tolerance, it is my duty in a democracy to tell the right things to the people. That is my job. I am fulfilling my duty," he said.
Modi accused these leaders of deliberately indulging in such acts "so that a big section of people gets annoyed".
"They have a Mughal mindset. They do not know that when the public gives a fitting reply, the princes of big dynasties get sidelined. Dynastic parties and corruption-ridden people should not be given opportunities," he said.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday arrived in Bhutan on a two-day State visit to further cement India's unique relations with the Himalayan nation as part of the country's 'Neighbourhood First' Policy.
Modi was accorded a red-carpet welcome upon his arrival at the Paro airport.
He was warmly received by Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, at Paro airport and accorded a ceremonial welcome.
The visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan and the Government&rsquo;s emphasis on its Neighbourhood First Policy, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a release on Friday.
The Bhutanese prime minister wrote on X in Hindi: "Bhutan mein aapka swagat hai mere bade bhai @narendramodi Ji."
Earlier, Modi posted on X about his visit to Bhutan. "On the way to Bhutan, where I will be attending various programmes aimed at further cementing the India-Bhutan partnership. I look forward to talks with Majesty the King of Bhutan, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Prime Minister @tsheringtobgay," he wrote on X.
The visit, scheduled between March 21 and 22, was postponed due to the inclement weather in Bhutan.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will receive an audience with Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan, and Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan. He will also hold talks with the Prime Minister of Bhutan.
The visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to "exchange views on bilateral and regional matters of interest and deliberate on ways to expand and intensify our exemplary partnership for the benefit of our peoples", the MEA said in a statement earlier this week.
India and Bhutan share "a unique and enduring partnership which is rooted in mutual trust, understanding and goodwill", the statement emphasised.
"Our shared spiritual heritage and warm people-to-people ties add depth and vibrancy to our exceptional relations," the MEA said.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to receive a grand welcome at the Tashichho Dzong, a traditional Buddhist monastery and the seat of the Bhutanese government.
Modi will also inaugurate the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Mother and Child Hospital in Thimphu, a state-of-the-art hospital, built with the assistance of the Government of India in Thimphu.
Bhutanese Prime Minister Tobgay was on a five-day visit to India last week, his first foreign trip after assuming charge of the top office in January.
He also held meetings with captains of various industries, besides other important engagements.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, which will improve traffic flow and ease congestion between Delhi and Gurugram on NH-48.
The total length of Dwarka Expressway is 29 km, out of which 18.9 km falls in Haryana, while the remaining 10.1 km is in Delhi.
On March 9, 2019 the then Union ministers, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari had laid the foundation stone for Dwarka Expressway.
The prime minister also held a road show at the inaugural site.
Dwarka Expressway is India's first elevated 8-lane access control urban expressway, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 9,000 crore, as part of the Centre's Rs 60,000 crore highway development plan in the NCR to decongest the national capital.
The Haryana section of Dwarka Expressway has been built at a cost of around Rs 4,100 crore and includes two packages of 10.2-km Delhi-Haryana Border to Basai Rail-over-Bridge (ROB) and 8.7-km Basai ROB to Kherki Daula.
It will also provide direct connectivity to the IGI Airport in Delhi and Gurugram Bypass.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari were present at the event.

Jammu and Kashmir is touching new heights of development and breathing freely after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution in 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Srinagar on Thursday.
Addressing a public rally, Modi also accused the Congress of misguiding not only the people of Jammu and Kashmir, but the entire nation on Article 370 for a long time.
The prime minister extended his "advance wishes" for the upcoming pious month of Ramzan and Maha Shivratri, which falls on Friday.
"Jammu and Kashmir is touching new heights of development after the abrogation of Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir is touching new heights of development today because it is breathing freely," Modi said at the rally at the Bakshi stadium.
This was the prime minister's first visit to Kashmir since the BJP-led Centre abrogated the provisions of Article 370, which had given a special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, and bifurcated it into Union territories on August 5, 2019.
After inaugurating several development projects, Modi said he was "elated to be among the wonderful people of Srinagar".
"The development projects being dedicated today will boost the development of Jammu and Kashmir. A developed Jammu and Kashmir is the priority for a developed India," he said.
Describing Jammu and Kashmir as the crown of the country, the prime minister said the path to building a developed Jammu and Kashmir will emerge from tourism possibilities and empowerment of farmers.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for trying to "paint a pretty picture" of Kashmir, that "all is well" after the Abrogation of article 370.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kashmir is only meant to address and drum support among the BJP's core constituency in the rest of the country in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said on Thursday, alleging that government employees were "forcibly" ferried to the venue of the prime minister's event here.
The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister alleged that government employees were "forcibly mobilised" and ferried to Modi's rally to paint a "pretty picture that all is well" post 2019, when the Centre abrogated the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution and bifurcated the erstwhile state into Union territories.

"Government employees are being herded at five am in sub zero temperatures into vehicles at Budgam bus stand ferrying them to the PM's rally.
"Disheartening to see employees being forcibly mobilised to paint a pretty picture that all is well post 2019 and that people here are celebrating their own collective disempowerment and humiliation," Mufti said in a post on X.
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) president said the scene "stands contrary" to earlier visits by previous prime ministers like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh at the peak of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir, when common people thronged to the venues of their events with great enthusiasm and returned with a hope in their hearts.
"But this time Kashmiris know that everything spoken at Bakshi stadium will be to showcase the so called benefits of illegal abrogation of Article 370 akin to putting salt to their wounds. This visit is only meant to address and drum support amongst BJP's core constituency in the rest of India for the upcoming Parliament elections," she said.
Another former chief minister and National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah also accused the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday of "pulling out all stops" to ensure a crowd for Modi's rally.
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not be able to do so on its own in Kashmir.
Abdullah said thousands of government employees have been asked to assemble at select locations before dawn so that they can be taken to the venue of Modi's rally.
"Employees, men and women in 1000s are being asked to assemble between 4:30 am and 5:30 am in the freezing temperatures to be bused to the venue. This participation isn't optional, it's compulsory. Employees who don't show up are being threatened with disciplinary action by their dept heads," he said on X.
In his first visit to Kashmir after the abrogation of the provisions of Article 370, Modi will unveil multiple development projects worth more than Rs 6,400 crore and address a public meeting in Srinagar on Thursday.
The Lok Sabha polls are likely to be held in April-May.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday went scuba diving off the Panchkui beach coast in Gujarat and performed prayers at the ancient Dwarka city of Lord Krishna, which is submerged in the sea.
To pray there was a "very divine experience," he said.
Wearing a white diving helmet and ochre robes, Modi sat cross-legged on the sea bed, folded his hands in prayers while being helped by the Navy divers and waved peacock feathers before offering them to Lord Krishna.
"More than courage, it was faith," he said after coming out of the waters.
Scuba diving is conducted off the coast of Dwarka near Beyt Dwarka island, where people can see the underwater remains of ancient Dwarka that have been excavated by archaeologists.
Sharing his experience while addressing a gathering later in the day, Modi said when he was touching the ancient city, the picture of India's grandeur of the 21st century flashed before his eyes, and he remained inside the waters for a long time.
"The vision of Dwarka in the sea has further strengthened my resolve of a developed India," he said.
The PM also shared his experience with some photographs on X.
"To pray in the city of Dwarka, which is immersed in the waters, was a very divine experience. I felt connected to an ancient era of spiritual grandeur and timeless devotion. May Bhagwan Shri Krishna bless us all," he said in the post on X.
Addressing the gathering here, Modi said he was overwhelmed with joy by the experience and fulfilment of his decades old dream of touching the sacred city.
"I went deep into the sea and saw the ancient Dwarkaji. Archaeologists have written a lot about Dwarka which is immersed in the sea. A lot has been said about Dwarka in our scriptures also. It is said that Lord Vishwakarma himself had built the city of Dwarka," the PM said.
He said the ancient Dwarka city was a good example of planning and development of a great city, and when he was having its darshan in the sea, he experienced "the same ancient grandeur and divinity."&nbsp;
"I bowed to Lord Shri Krishna there. I also took peacock feathers with me which I offered to Lord Krishna," he said.
The prime minister said that for many years, he was very curious about going into the sea and touching whatever remains of the ancient city of Dwarka and paying his respects.
"My wish of many years was fulfilled today. I am thrilled, overwhelmed with emotions. You can imagine how much joy I would have felt when the dream that I had nurtured for decades was fulfilled today by touching that sacred land," he said, sharing his experience.
Modi also offered prayers at the Lord Sri Krishna temple at Dwarka.
In the morning, he inaugurated 'Sudarshan Setu', the country's longest cable-stayed bridge of 2.32 km, on the Arabian Sea connecting Beyt Dwarka island to mainland Okha in Devbhumi Dwarka district.
He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of Rs 4,100 crore projects covering the districts of Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar and Porbandar.
