Five Austria-made Glock pistols and more than 90 rounds of different calibre bullets dropped by a Pakistani drone were recovered by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday from along the International Border in Punjab, officials said.
The dropping of the weapons and ammunition took place in Metla area of Gurdaspur sector around 2:30 am.

Officials said the cache contained five Glock pistols, ten magazines and 91 rounds.
Security agencies suspect the consignment was meant for Khalistani separatist groups in the border state.

It is used for close-quarter battle scenario and VIP protection duties as it has a range of 35-50 metres. It is manufactured in Austria and the USA.

According to an order, "the curbs on mobile internet services have been extended in Tarn Taran and Ferozepur districts in the interest of public safety, to prevent any incitement to violence and to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order"

The Punjab government Thursday extended the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in Tarn Taran and Ferozepur districts till Friday noon while lifting the curbs in Moga, Sangrur, Ajnala sub-division in Amritsar and a few areas in Mohali.
Mobile internet services in the rest of Punjab resumed on March 21.
According to an order issued on Thursday by the state home affairs department and justice, the curbs on mobile internet services have been extended in Tarn Taran and Ferozepur districts "in the interest of public safety, to prevent any incitement to violence and to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order". "It is directed that all mobile internet services, all SMS services (excluding banking and mobile recharge) and all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except the voice calls, in the territorial jurisdiction of Punjab shall continue to remain suspended from March 23 (1200 hours) to March 24 (1200 hours) only in the districts Tarn Taran and Ferozepur in continuation of this office order number 1821 dated March 21," it said.
Broadband services were not suspended so that banking facilities, hospital services and other essential services are not disrupted, said the order.
The Punjab authorities last week suspended Internet and SMS services in the state following the police crackdown against elements of 'Waris Punjab De,' headed by radical preacher Amritpal Singh. The elusive preacher, however, gave the police a slip and escaped their dragnet when his cavalcade was intercepted in the Jalandhar district.
With the Khalistani leader continuing to remain untraceable, police have said that efforts were on to nab the fugitive.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) Sukhchain Singh Gill has said that Amritpal Singh was still on the run and efforts were on to nab him.
He said six FIRs have so far been registered and 114 people arrested in the crackdown against elements of the Waris Punjab De outfit.
Gill also said that police suspect an "ISI angle" and foreign funding in the matter.
The NSA has been invoked against five people linked to the outfit, he said in response to a question.
The stringent law has been invoked against four detenues -- Daljit Singh Kalsi, Bhagwant Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Pradhanmantri' Bajeke, who have been shifted to the Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam.
He further said that the NSA has also been invoked against Harjit Singh, who surrendered on Saturday night in Jalandhar.
Harjit Singh, the uncle of Amritpal Singh, will also be taken to Dibrugarh Central Jail, the police said.
In the wake of the action against the radical preacher, Gill said police were taking out flag marches in the state and peace committee meetings were being held in all districts. There is complete peace in Punjab, he added.
The official also urged people not to lend ears to rumours and fake news, saying strict action will be taken against those found involved in the same.

Some media reports have said that more than 700 Indian students are facing deportation from Canada due to the submission of fake documents issued by a Jalandhar-based travel agent.
The students had gone to Canada in 2018-19 on a study visa but the fraud came to light after they applied for permanent residency (PR) in the North American country recently.
While examining their documents, the Canadian authorities found the 'admission offer letters' to educational institutes to be fake and the Canadian Border Security Agency issued deportation letters to them.
The reports said the travel agent had charged more than Rs 16 lakh per student for his services.
"We have not yet got any complaint in this regard. But still we are verifying,&rdquo; Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Vatsala Gupta told reporters.

The clarification was issued after reports emerged of tourists reportedly from Punjab creating a ruckus at Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara.&nbsp;
Several videos have gone viral with people seen pelting stones at locals and their houses.
According to Kullu SP Sakshi Verma, a scuffle had broken out between the locals and pilgrims following a verbal spat, however, the situation was brought under control and there was no damage to the gurdwara.

Intel agencies warned Punjab Police that an attack is being planned on Amritpal Singh to disturb the law and order situation, according to an India Today report.
Intel officials also reportedly told police to track funds received by district presidents of Waris Punjab De. Security agencies suspect that Amritpal is being supported by Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the report said.

Days after a clash between Punjab police and followers of Khalistani sympathiser Amritpal Singh, it has emerged that Punjab Police personnel are receiving training in 'Gatka', a martial arts form mainly practiced by members of the Sikh community.

The special training is aimed at ensuring physical fitness of cops, as well as preparing them to deal with dangerous situations, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Avtar Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
