NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal conducted the fourth online NRI Milnee at Punjab Civil Secretariat-1 to address the grievances of NRI Punjabis through video conferencing.
He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab has launched this unique initiative to resolve NRI complaints. He emphasized that Punjab is the only state in the country to implement such a program for the redressal of NRI issues.
During this session, a total of 123 complaints were received&mdash;98 via email and 25 through WhatsApp. Dhaliwal also highlighted that in the last three NRI Milnees, 393 complaints were received, of which 343 cases have already been resolved.
He instructed ADGP NRI Wing of Punjab Police Praveen K Sinha and the SSPs of the concerned districts to promptly address the complaints. Assuring swift resolution, he reiterated that the grievances of NRI Punjabis would be handled with urgency.
Dhaliwal reassured the NRI community, stating, "I am always at your disposal to solve your problems and concerns, and we will leave no stone unturned to resolve your grievances." He also encouraged NRIs to meet him at their convenience for any assistance.
The fourth monthly NRI Milnee was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Dilip Kumar, ADGP NRI Wing Praveen K Sinha, and other officials from the NRI Affairs Department.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking.
As part of this initiative, authorities demolished the properties of two individuals involved in drug trade in Fazilka district on Thursday.
Local residents welcomed this strict action, praising the government&rsquo;s commitment to eliminating the drug menace.
Leading the operation, SSP Varinder Singh Brar stated that the demolition took place in Mandi Arniwala in the presence of the civil administration team. The individuals, identified as Rani and Bagga, were known for their involvement in drug trafficking and had multiple cases registered against them. Their illegal constructions were demolished as part of the ongoing crackdown. Notably, Rani had three drug-related FIRs against her.
SSP Brar emphasized that the War Against Drugs campaign is transforming into a mass movement, with increasing public participation. He noted that people are now coming forward without fear to report drug traffickers, with the police ensuring confidentiality and swift action on every tip-off. He reiterated that those engaged in drug trafficking would face severe consequences.
Providing further details, SSP Brar revealed that since the campaign's launch on March 1, 2025, a total of 76 drug-related cases have been registered across the district. So far, 111 accused have been arrested and sent to jail. The police have seized 2.383 kg of heroin, 575,585 Pregabalin capsules, 23,279 intoxicating tablets, 7.5 kg of poppy husk, and ₹52,000 in drug money.
In addition to this demolition, similar action had been taken earlier against another drug trafficker in the district.

To strengthen the enrollment drive in Punjab, School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains launched a statewide campaign to boost student admissions in government schools.
The initiative was inaugurated on Thursday at Government Primary Smart School, Phase-2, SAS Nagar.
As part of the campaign, a specially designed van equipped with banners and loudspeakers was flagged off to spread awareness. A total of 23 such vans will travel across all 228 educational blocks in Punjab, encouraging parents to enroll their children in government schools.
The minister emphasized the department&rsquo;s goal of increasing enrollment in pre-primary schools by 10%. Last year, over 3.51 lakh students were enrolled in Punjab&rsquo;s 13,100 pre-primary schools.
This enrollment drive aims to identify out-of-school children, promote government school admissions, and enhance community engagement for universal access to education. Local MLAs, Deputy Commissioners, SDMs, public figures, School Management Committees (SMCs), panchayats, and school heads will actively participate in the initiative. The objective is to raise awareness among parents and the community about the importance of education and encourage school enrollment.
Highlighting the achievements of the School Education Department, Bains shared that 189 students from government schools successfully cleared the JEE Mains examination this year. He praised their success as a testament to the quality of education in government institutions and congratulated both the students and their teachers for this accomplishment.
He also outlined the efforts of the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in improving school education and infrastructure over the past three years. Government schools have been equipped with essential amenities, including Wi-Fi, furniture, separate toilets for boys and girls, and transportation facilities for students in Schools of Eminence and 17 girls&rsquo; schools. Additionally, over 10,000 new classrooms have been built, 6,000 classrooms renovated, and 1,300 km of boundary walls constructed in 8,000 government schools.
The event was also attended by Director SCERT Amaninder Kaur Brar, Director School Education (Secondary) Paramjit Singh, and other senior officials of the department.

Raising urgent concerns over the pollution of Punjab's water bodies due to industrial effluents from Himachal Pradesh (HP), Punjab Education Minister and Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains has written to HP Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, urging swift and stringent action to address this environmental and public health crisis.
Bains has also reached out to the Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Member Secretary of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), seeking immediate intervention to protect public health, particularly in his constituency, Anandpur Sahib.
In his communication, he cited test results from the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), which confirmed that hazardous industrial waste from HP&rsquo;s industrial zones is flowing into the Swan and Barmala Khad, eventually contaminating the Sutlej River. Highlighting the gravity of the situation, he referred to an incident in Barmala Khad, where multiple wild pigs died due to intoxication caused by polluted water. This unchecked contamination is not only deteriorating the Sutlej River but also posing serious health risks to local communities.
In his letter to the Himachal Pradesh CM, Bains referenced PPCB reports and numerous complaints from residents of his constituency, urging personal intervention to stop the discharge of untreated effluents into Punjab's water bodies. He stressed the need for immediate action to curb this environmental hazard.
Expressing deep concerns about preserving ecological balance and ensuring public health in his letter to the NGT Chairperson, Bains called for strict action against industries responsible for pollution. He demanded the immediate closure of those violating pollution norms and urged the NGT to direct HP authorities to implement stringent pollution control measures. Additionally, he requested necessary orders to monitor and remediate the affected water bodies, including the Swan riverbed, Barmala Khad, and the Sutlej River.
In his letter to the CPCB Member Secretary, Bains sought urgent intervention to conduct a thorough inspection of industrial units in the Bathari and Golthai industrial areas of HP. He called for the immediate cessation of untreated industrial discharge into the Swan and Barmala Khad streams and urged strict enforcement of environmental norms, along with punitive action against industries violating pollution regulations. He also emphasized the need for long-term remediation measures to restore water quality in the affected regions.
&ldquo;The rivers are the lifelines of Punjab, and their contamination poses a severe threat to public health, agriculture, and biodiversity," Bains said, stressing the urgency of taking immediate action to prevent further damage.

The 5th Onshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC) meeting for Punjab took place on Thursday at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Security SS Srivastava, who represented DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
Senior officials from Punjab Police, including ADGP Internal Security Shive Kumar Verma and ADGP Cybercrime V Neeraja, participated in the meeting, along with OSCC Chairman ED (O&amp;M) GAIL RK Singh and Advisor (Security) GAIL Saurabh Tolumbia. Representatives from the oil and gas sector, Intelligence Bureau, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and other relevant departments were also present.
During the discussions, representatives from companies such as GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, HMEL, Think Gas, and Torrent Gas provided insights into their operations and outlined security challenges affecting their installations.
Key topics included strengthening security measures, enhancing security protocols, and utilizing advanced CCTV surveillance for improved vigilance.
Addressing the gathering, ADGP SS Srivastava underscored the importance of maintaining a strong information network to address issues like oil theft and pipeline leakages. ADGP Shive Kumar Verma emphasized the necessity of collaboration between oil and gas companies, local police, and the administration, stating that a strong liaison is crucial for effective security and management.
Highlighting the increasing threat of cyber security breaches, ADGP Cyber Crime V Neeraja assured comprehensive support from the Punjab Cyber Crime Division. She proposed deploying specialized teams to assess cybersecurity frameworks and provide recommendations to enhance security at oil and gas installations.

Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the campaign has evolved into a grassroots movement, with villages and towns actively participating in the fight against drugs.
Amidst the intensified crackdown on drug traffickers and peddlers, the Punjab Police, led by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, has also initiated a special awareness drive to encourage public cooperation and strengthen the collective resolve to combat this crisis.
Sharing insights on the initiative, Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla stated that police commissioners and senior superintendents (CPs/SSPs) have been directed to organize various awareness programs, including SAMPARK meetings and student interactions, to engage the public, youth, NGOs, and clubs in the anti-drug movement.
He highlighted that since the launch of Yudh Nashian Virudh, 3,022 panchayats have pledged their commitment to fighting drug abuse, supporting rehabilitation initiatives, and strengthening police-public partnerships to eradicate drugs from society.
According to the Special DGP, the overwhelming public support has reinforced the Punjab Police&rsquo;s enforcement efforts, leading to intensified raids across the state.
Detailing the latest developments, he revealed that on Thursday alone, 97 drug smugglers were arrested, and significant quantities of narcotics, including 1.5 kg of heroin, 100 grams of opium, 2 kg of ganja, and ₹1.86 lakh in drug money, were seized. In the past 20 days, a total of 2,463 individuals have been arrested, underscoring the ongoing crackdown on drug networks.
Special DGP Arpit Shukla further stated that more than 200 police teams, consisting of over 1,300 personnel and supervised by 84 gazetted officers, conducted raids at 440 locations across Punjab, leading to the registration of 58 FIRs. Additionally, police teams examined 478 suspicious individuals as part of the day-long operation.
He emphasized that the state government has adopted a three-pronged strategy&mdash;Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention (EDP)&mdash;to tackle the drug crisis. As part of the de-addiction effort, Punjab Police has convinced seven individuals to seek rehabilitation, while 103 awareness events have been organized to prevent drug abuse.
In a parallel effort, Punjab Police also carried out extensive searches in jails across six districts&mdash;Hoshiarpur, SBS Nagar, Jalandhar Rural, Commissionerate Jalandhar, Kapurthala, and Rupnagar&mdash;to curb illegal activities. &ldquo;Our police teams have thoroughly searched every nook and corner, including barracks, kitchens, and toilets, to ensure strict vigilance inside the jail premises,&rdquo; said Special DGP Arpit Shukla.

The amendment omits clause 7 (01) of the existing rules, thereby enabling EWS students to seek direct admission in private schools.
This groundbreaking decision is expected to revolutionize education in Punjab by ensuring that underprivileged students can access high-quality education in private institutions, in addition to the education provided in government schools.
Notably, the Right to Education Act mandates that 25% of seats in private schools be reserved for EWS students. However, previous governments had imposed restrictions in the state&rsquo;s education rules, preventing students from directly availing this benefit in private institutions.
With this historic decision, all such barriers have been removed, ensuring that students from weaker sections have unrestricted access to private school education across Punjab.

In a major breakthrough against the international drug network, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, acting on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has dismantled a cross-border drug cartel.&nbsp;
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced on Tuesday that police teams had arrested one accused and seized 8.08 kg of heroin, along with a .30 bore pistol and five cartridges.
The arrested individual has been identified as Dharminder Singh alias Sonu, a resident of Harsha Chhena village in Amritsar. In addition to the narcotics and weapons, law enforcement officials have also seized a Hyundai Creta vehicle used by the accused for transporting drug consignments.
DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed that the accused was in direct contact with cross-border drug traffickers who used drones to smuggle narcotics through the Ajnala sector. He further stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the entire network, including both backward and forward linkages.
Providing more details about the operation, Amritsar Commissioner of Police (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, during a press conference, explained that police teams, working under the supervision of DCP Investigation Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, ADCP Investigation Navjot Singh, and ACP North Kamaljit Singh, successfully apprehended the accused near the Mental Hospital in Amritsar. The arrest was made while Dharminder Singh alias Sonu was waiting to deliver the drug consignment.
The CP further added that police have identified and nominated another accomplice linked to the drug smuggling operation. Investigations are also underway to identify the recipient of the consignment. Authorities are making concerted efforts to dismantle the entire network of suppliers, dealers, and buyers, as well as to determine the total quantity of drugs smuggled by the arrested individuals.
An FIR (No. 20) dated March 17, 2025, has been registered under sections 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act, along with sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, at Majitha Road Police Station in Amritsar.

Taking a major step toward strengthening healthcare services, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday inaugurated the renovated Civil Hospital in Ludhiana, marking a significant milestone in public health infrastructure.
Through the dedicated efforts of the state government and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, the Ludhiana Civil Hospital has undergone a remarkable transformation. The modernization project not only improves infrastructure but also reaffirms the government's commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services. These upgrades reflect a collective vision to raise public health standards and create a patient-friendly environment.
With a strong focus on improving medical facilities and patient care, several critical initiatives have been meticulously planned and implemented. These efforts aim to modernize the hospital, enhance patient comfort, and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere. As part of this transformation, a fully modular Orthopedic Operation Theatre has been established at a cost of nearly ₹1 crore, significantly boosting the hospital&rsquo;s surgical capabilities.
Equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and advanced surgical tools, this facility enables healthcare professionals to perform complex orthopedic procedures with greater precision and efficiency. Its modular design ensures a sterile and infection-controlled environment, improving patient safety and post-operative outcomes. Additionally, all washrooms in the Outpatient Department (OPD), Emergency Unit, and Inpatient Wards have been upgraded with modern fixtures, anti-slip flooring, and improved drainage systems to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
To further enhance hospital amenities, 500 new high-quality bed sheets have been provided, and five advanced 80-litre water coolers have been installed at key locations to supply clean and chilled drinking water for patients and visitors. The hospital's interiors have also been revamped, with new tiles laid on sidewalls up to five feet, ensuring better aesthetics and hygiene. Essential repair and maintenance work has been carried out to restore structural integrity, including refurbishing walls and addressing long-standing wear and tear.
To prevent water damage and seepage, all terraces have been waterproofed using advanced materials and techniques. Damaged doors and windows have been repaired, replaced, and repainted. After being non-functional for 12 years, two old lifts have been completely overhauled and put back into service. Non-functional fans and lights have been replaced with energy-efficient models, and the hospital&rsquo;s high-mast lighting systems have been repaired to enhance nighttime visibility and safety.
The hospital premises have also seen major infrastructural improvements. Dilapidated roads within the premises have been dismantled and reconstructed for smoother vehicular movement and pedestrian access. Parking arrangements have been streamlined with the installation of high-quality paver blocks, while a 5,000-square-foot shed has been built to serve as a waiting area for patients and their attendants, providing shelter from adverse weather conditions.
A comprehensive horticulture program has been implemented to enhance the hospital&rsquo;s landscape, introducing lush greenery and well-maintained garden areas. The hospital&rsquo;s main gate has been structurally reinforced and aesthetically upgraded to create a dignified and welcoming appearance. A sturdy cattle trap has been installed at the entrance to prevent stray animals from entering, ensuring a clean and secure environment. To maintain hygiene, a strict rodent control protocol has been introduced, while the hospital&rsquo;s boundary wall has been completely rebuilt for added security and durability.
These extensive renovations reflect the government's commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that Ludhiana Civil Hospital provides top-tier medical care in a well-maintained and patient-friendly setting.

Arvind Kejriwal announced a statewide anti-drug movement in Punjab from April 1, urging public participation. The campaign includes a helpline for reporting drug-related activities, recruitment of 5,000 Home Guards for border security and more.

He highlighted that sectors like education, healthcare, and electricity have become key priorities due to AAP&rsquo;s efforts.&nbsp;
Mann also pointed out that previous governments never gave such importance to these core areas, adding that even leaders who once projected themselves as invincible are now wary of AAP&rsquo;s growing influence.
Reflecting on AAP&rsquo;s electoral success, Mann noted that the people of Punjab had given a resounding mandate by electing 92 MLAs during the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections. He remarked that those who disrespected Sri Guru Granth Sahib and misled the state are now facing consequences. "Those who claimed they would rule for 25 years don&rsquo;t even have 25 leaders with them now, as people have held them accountable for their misdeeds," he said.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government&rsquo;s strict action against corruption in the state. Mann asserted that traditional political parties are envious of his leadership because he comes from a humble background and is committed to serving the people. He urged village panchayats to conduct awareness activities at the grassroots level to uproot the menace of drugs. He also stressed the importance of street plays in towns and villages to educate people about drug abuse and directed civil and police administration to coordinate their efforts effectively.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, he called upon district officials to consider drug eradication as their social responsibility and work with full commitment. He instructed that panchayats should actively participate in this mission and encourage people to report drug dealers without fear, assuring that their identities would be kept confidential.

Issuing a stern warning to drug traffickers, he said, "Either quit the drug trade or leave Punjab." He asserted that the state government is determined to save its youth and will not spare those leading them astray. He also mentioned that illegally acquired properties of drug traffickers are being seized and demolished to deter others from engaging in such activities.
Deputy Commissioner Moga Sagar Setia informed the minister that besides de-addiction efforts, large-scale preventive actions are already underway. He mentioned that rehabilitation centers are being strengthened to ensure proper treatment and counseling for drug victims.
Additionally, skill development programs and employment opportunities are being provided to help rehabilitated individuals reintegrate into society.

In response, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, reaffirmed on Monday that Punjab Police will not allow any forces to disrupt the state's hard-earned peace and stability.
&ldquo;Punjab Police will not allow Pak-ISI to destabilise the border state and will ensure exemplary punishment to anyone trying to disturb the peace and harmony of the state,&rdquo; said the DGP, citing the recent neutralisation of the key accused in the Thakur Dwara Mandir attack in Amritsar during a retaliatory police operation.
Addressing the media after a high-level meeting with senior officials&mdash;including Special DGPs, Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGPs), and Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs)&mdash;DGP Yadav highlighted that the decisive crackdown on drugs has forced traffickers to retreat. Many drug couriers are now hesitant to collect consignments dropped by Pakistan-based handlers, leading to a noticeable decline in heroin supply across the border.
&ldquo;The impact of &lsquo;Yudh Nashian Virudh&rsquo; is undeniable. Our intelligence confirms that drug couriers are now hesitant to collect heroin packets dropped by Pakistani smugglers, signalling a major disruption in the supply chain,&rdquo; he stated.
DGP Yadav further elaborated that the campaign strategically targets street-level drug peddlers and smugglers, while ensuring that victims of drug addiction receive necessary treatment at de-addiction centres rather than facing harassment. Senior police officials&mdash;ranging from Special DGPs to DIGs&mdash;are overseeing these operations, ensuring strict action is taken across all districts.
He also praised the cabinet sub-committee's efforts in coordinating various departments to combat the drug menace. Notably, the Punjab government has formed a five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee, led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, to monitor and guide the &lsquo;Yudh Nashian Virudh&rsquo; campaign.
To further strengthen the initiative, DGP Yadav announced the launch of a district-level mapping program to assess the prevalence of different drugs across regions. This data-driven approach will help formulate targeted action plans to effectively combat drug abuse.
Additionally, all field officers&mdash;from Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to Station House Officers (SHOs)&mdash;are being assigned quantifiable targets to ensure a measurable and results-driven approach to the anti-drug campaign.
Providing an update on the campaign&rsquo;s progress, DGP Yadav revealed that in just 17 days since March 1, 2025, Punjab Police has arrested 2,575 drug smugglers and registered 1,651 first information reports (FIRs). The police have seized 95 kg of heroin, 52 kg of opium, 1,129 kg of poppy husk, 13.79 kg of ganja, 7.25 lakh intoxicant tablets/pills/injections, 1 kg of ICE, 1.37 kg of cocaine, and ₹64 lakh in drug money.
He also highlighted the growing success of the newly launched Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline &lsquo;9779100200&rsquo;, which enables citizens to report drug traffickers anonymously. The helpline has seen a significant increase in public participation in recent days.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Punjab for their support in making this campaign successful, DGP Yadav emphasized that public cooperation is essential for achieving long-term success. He noted that Punjab Police has been engaging communities through meetings with local residents and village defense committees to raise awareness and strengthen vigilance.
In addition, he mentioned that initiatives such as YUVA Saanjh and various sports programs are being reinforced to positively channelize the energy of Punjab&rsquo;s youth, steering them away from drugs and towards constructive activities.

He emphasized the importance of value addition to agricultural produce and called for a stronger synergy between the agricultural and industrial sectors to drive Punjab&rsquo;s economic growth.
Criticizing Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu, Mann accused him of failing to address Ludhiana&rsquo;s industrial concerns despite hailing from the city. He noted that local industrialists now seek state government intervention for railway-related issues due to their lack of confidence in Bittu&rsquo;s leadership. "This reflects the faith and trust people have in the AAP government," Mann remarked.
He also took a dig at former political leaders, stating that those who once lived in palatial homes and dominated state politics have now been ousted. "The state has entered a new era where once-invincible figures have been shown the door by the people," he said, adding that these leaders never prioritized the welfare of the common man.
Mann claimed that traditional parties resent him for rising from a common background and working tirelessly for the people. "They always believed they had a divine right to rule Punjab, which is why they cannot accept that a common man is now running the state efficiently," he said. He further added that despite their past tactics of misleading the public, people are no longer influenced by their propaganda.
Responding to Congress leaders' claims that some AAP MLAs were in contact with them and could switch sides, Mann dismissed the statements as baseless attempts to gain media attention. "Instead of daydreaming about defections, Congress should focus on keeping its own ranks intact," he quipped, asserting that these politicians had lost touch with both their cadre and the public.

In a significant law enforcement move, the Punjab Police is set to bring back seven key associates of Amritpal Singh, leader of Waris Punjab De (WPD), from Dibrugarh Jail, Assam.&nbsp;
They will be formally arrested in connection with the Ajnala Police Station attack case and made to face legal proceedings, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced in Chandigarh on Sunday.
The individuals being brought back have been identified as Basant Singh from Daulatpura Ucha in Moga, Bhagwant Singh alias Pradhan Mantri Bajeke from Bajeke in Moga, Gurmeet Singh Gill alias Gurmeet Bukkanwala from Bukkanwala in Moga, Sarabjeet Singh Kalsi alias Daljeet Singh Kalsi from West Punjabi Bagh in New Delhi, Gurinderpal Singh Aujla alias Guri Aujla from Phagwara, Harjeet Singh alias Chacha from Jallupur Khera in Amritsar, and Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal alias Kulwant Singh from Rauke Kalan in Moga.
These individuals have been detained under the National Security Act (NSA) at Dibrugarh Jail for the past two years.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that a high-level police team, led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Harinder Singh Gill, has been deployed at Dibrugarh Jail to carry out the arrests upon completion of their NSA detention period.&nbsp;
The Punjab Police will then present them before the Hon&rsquo;ble Court in Dibrugarh to obtain transit remand and ensure their swift return to Punjab for trial, he added.
According to official records, on February 23, 2023, Amritpal Singh and his supporters used Sri Palki Sahib with parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as cover and launched an attack on Ajnala Police Station to secure the release of their associate, Lovepreet Singh alias Toofan.&nbsp;
Following the attack, Amritsar Rural Police registered FIR no. 39 dated 24/2/2023 under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 307, 353, 186, 332, 333, 506, 120-B, 427, 148, and 149 at Ajnala Police Station.
Providing further details, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Border Range Satinder Singh, accompanied by SSP Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh, addressed the media, stating that beginning Monday, seven of the 10 detainees will be brought back to Punjab for trial in various cases across the state.&nbsp;
&ldquo;We will make their (seven individuals) formal arrest in FIR no. 39/23 registered at Ajnala Police Station to begin investigations in the case,&rdquo; he said.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, accompanied by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, visited Sri Harmandir Sahib, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirth Sthal, and Sri Durgiana Mandir on Sunday to express gratitude for the successful completion of three years of the state government.
Both leaders expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Punjab and usher in an era of unprecedented development. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Arvind Kejriwal emphasized their commitment to following the teachings of the great Sikh Gurus in serving the public, pledging to further accelerate the state's progress. They noted the significant transformation in Punjab over the past three years and envisioned the state leading the nation in various fields in the coming two years.
Reflecting on his tenure, the Chief Minister recalled that on this day in 2022, he had assumed office in the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He acknowledged the immense responsibility entrusted to him by the people through a decisive mandate in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections. Since then, Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, the government has been dedicated to positioning Punjab at the forefront in every sector.
The Chief Minister highlighted the launch of free power services in 2022, benefiting 90% of households with zero power bills. This initiative, he stated, has significantly alleviated financial burdens for common citizens. He further expressed pride that farmers, alongside domestic consumers, are receiving free and uninterrupted electricity.
He also recalled the resumption of coal supply from the Pachwara mines shortly after assuming office and the state&rsquo;s historic acquisition of the Goindwal power plant from a private company. Bhagwant Singh Mann underscored that, unlike previous administrations that sold state assets at minimal prices, his government has reversed the trend by bringing private power plants under public ownership.
In an effort to empower youth, the Punjab government has provided over 51,000 government jobs in just 36 months, a record-breaking initiative executed purely on merit, without corruption or favoritism.
To enhance healthcare accessibility, the state government has established 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics, which have transformed the medical landscape in Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that over 2.70 crore people have benefited from these clinics, highlighting their widespread impact.
On the education front, the Punjab government is committed to upgrading 118 Government Senior Secondary Schools into Schools of Eminence, featuring modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and sports facilities. He mentioned that government school enrolment in pre-primary classes has surged by approximately 17%, while teachers and principals are being sent abroad for specialized training to enhance their expertise.
The Chief Minister also emphasized Punjab&rsquo;s progress in irrigation, stating that while only 21% of canal water was previously utilized for agriculture, the figure has now risen to 75%. This has ensured that farmers at the tail ends of the canal system receive their fair share of water while simultaneously conserving groundwater.
As part of citizen-centric governance, the Punjab government introduced the "Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwar" initiative, offering doorstep delivery of 43 essential government services. This scheme, he stated, has significantly improved administrative efficiency and convenience for residents.
Bhagwant Singh Mann further highlighted Punjab&rsquo;s peaceful environment and investment-friendly policies, which have attracted around ₹94,000 crore in investments from companies like Tata Steel and Sanatan Textiles. He credited the state&rsquo;s excellent infrastructure, skilled workforce, and conducive business atmosphere for this economic boost.
To facilitate spiritual journeys, the government launched the Mukh Mantri Teerth Yatra Scheme, enabling citizens to visit pilgrimage sites free of cost. More than 35,000 pilgrims have already benefited from this initiative.
Additionally, Punjab introduced a pioneering road safety initiative, the Sadak Surakhya Force, to enhance security on highways and reduce road accident fatalities. With 1,597 specially trained personnel and 144 advanced vehicles, the force has contributed to a 48.10% decline in accident-related casualties since its inception. This initiative has been widely praised, even at the national level.
Meanwhile, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lauded the Punjab government&rsquo;s historic decisions over the past three years, expressing confidence that the coming years would bring further transformative changes. He emphasized the administration&rsquo;s commitment to uplifting weaker and underprivileged sections of society.
Kejriwal reaffirmed the government's determination to ensure justice for all, accelerate economic growth, and eliminate corruption and drug-related issues. He expressed optimism about Punjab&rsquo;s future, envisioning it as a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive state with active youth participation in its development.

In a significant move to enhance transportation facilities for the residents of Lehragaga constituency, Punjab Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal flagged off buses on two new routes from the Lehragaga Bus Stand on Sunday.&nbsp;
This initiative, taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, aims to provide much-needed relief to passengers.
Addressing the gathering, Cabinet Minister Goyal highlighted the challenges faced by traders and locals traveling from Lehragaga to Hoshiarpur due to the absence of a direct bus service. &ldquo;From now onwards, a bus will depart daily from Lehragaga Bus Stand at 6:45 AM, traveling via Sunam, Sangrur, and Ludhiana, and reaching Hoshiarpur by afternoon. The return journey will begin from Hoshiarpur at 2:37 PM. The passengers traveling on this 422-kilometer route will experience significant relief with this new service,&rdquo; he stated.
He further announced the launch of another bus service for passengers commuting between Moonak and Khanauri, a route where students, in particular, faced difficulties due to the lack of government transport. &ldquo;Now, this problem has been permanently resolved,&rdquo; he assured.
Expressing gratitude towards Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, and PRTC Chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana, Goyal criticized previous governments for neglecting rural development needs. &ldquo;While previous governments ignored demands for better transport and other public amenities, the Punjab government led by the Aam Aadmi Party has initiated a wave of development projects across villages and cities, ensuring there is no shortage of development work anywhere in Punjab,&rdquo; he said.
