After the melee broke out, some players left the pitch and returned to the changing rooms.&nbsp;Other&nbsp;players, including Queretaro goalkeeper, stayed on the field to try to calm the situation. Security personnel opened the gates to the field so that other fans, which included women and children, could escape the brawl.&nbsp;
The fighting then spilt out onto the pitch itself, where fans continued to brawl and some were armed with chairs and metal bars. One of the fans was seen pulling a knife to cut the nets of one goal, while others fought in the tunnel which lead out onto the pitch.&nbsp;Queretaro Governor&nbsp;condemned the violence and said the owners of the Liga MX club would have to answer for what happened.
Kuri said 23 people were injured in the violence, three seriously.
