According to officials, despite an introductory event held recently, some post-graduate students of Kakatiya University asked juniors to re-introduce themselves at the ladies hostel of the institute.&nbsp;

As many as 80 PG women students of a university in Telangana were suspended for one week from hostel for allegedly pressuring their juniors "to sing and dance", officials said on Saturday.
After the introductory event held recently, some students of the Post-Graduate courses of Commerce and Zoology departments of the Kakatiya University in Warangal district, again on December 18, asked their juniors to re-introduce themselves at the ladies hostel of the institute, which the juniors refused, they said.
The junior students complained to the varsity authorities over the matter even as some among them also alleged that they were "pressurised" to sing and dance by their seniors, the officials said, adding an enquiry was conducted, and 80 PG students were suspended.
"Disciplinary action has been initiated against the 80 PG students, and they were suspended for a week from hostel," a senior official of the university said.

"The teen was definitely ragged and sexually molested. He was paraded naked in the corridor after he was forced to undress in room no. 70. We have evidence," the officer told PTI.

The deceased first-year student of Jadavpur University was paraded naked in the corridor of the main hostel's second floor, minutes before he fell off from there and died, Kolkata Police's initial probe has revealed.
Investigators have also found that the teen was "sexually molested" and the arrested 12 people, including present and former students of the varsity, "had played active roles" in the entire episode, leading to the Nadia teen's death, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.
"The teen was definitely ragged and sexually molested. He was paraded naked in the corridor after he was forced to undress in room no. 70. We have evidence," the officer told PTI.
Kolkata Police investigators have got hold of a WhatsApp group created by one of the arrested accused, he said, adding, it was done to &ldquo;misdirect cops&rdquo;.
"Probe also revealed that those arrested had planned to misdirect police so that the ragging part could be concealed," the officer said.
On Tuesday, police questioned the cook of the hostel to find out more about the August 9 incident, he said.
Two other students of the varsity have been summoned to appear before the investigators for questioning in connection with the probe.
The teen died after falling from the second-floor balcony of the main boys' hostel near the campus on the night of August 9.
His family has alleged he was a victim of ragging and sexual molestation.

Two more arrested in Jadavpur University student's alleged ragging-related suicide case

A first-year student of Jadavpur University in Kolkata died after allegedly falling from the second-floor balcony of the main hostel on August 10. Initial probe revealed that the student was bullied allegedly by some senior boarders of the hostel.

Two students of Jadavpur University were arrested on Sunday for their alleged involvement in ragging an 18-year-old undergraduate student who died after falling from the balcony of a hostel, police said.
Three persons have so far been held in the case a senior officer said.
A former student of the varsity, who continued staying at the main hostel, was apprehended on Friday.
"One second-year student of Economics and another of Sociology were arrested on Sunday morning," a senior officer of Kolkata Police said.
The student of Economics is from Bankura district, while the other hails from Arambagh in Hooghly, he said.
Swapnadip Kundu, a resident of Bagula in Nadia district, fell from the second-floor balcony of the main hostel building around 11.45 pm on Wednesday and died while undergoing treatment at a hospital at 3.40 am on Thursday.
"The names of the two surfaced after night-long grilling of the arrested ex-student. Both are boarders of the same hostel and were there when the teenager allegedly fell from the second floor of the hostel building. We will question them to get names of those who are also somehow involved in the matter," the officer told PTI.
The two students will be produced before a court later in the day, he said.
An FIR has been registered after the deceased's father lodged a complaint, alleging that a few boarders of the hostel were responsible for his son's death.&nbsp;

Following a complaint by Preethi's father, the cops arrested a second-year-post graduate student Mohammed Ali Saif, on charges of ragging, abetment to suicide and harassment under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed students to not indulge in ragging after a student of Dibrugarh University tried to kill himself by jumping off the hostel building.&nbsp; In a tweet, Sarma said the victim is being provided medical treatment and officials are looking into the matter.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, Assam Police, as per an NDTV report have arrested five people in connection with the alleged ragging of juniors at the university.
The incident came to light after a commerce student named Anand Sharma reportedly jumped off the second floor of the hostel in an attempt to save himself from the alleged assault by seniors.
The accused involve one former and four current students of the university, and police lodged a case against them following complaint by the victim student's family.
Case has been registered under sections relating to criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder, restraining a person.
University authorities reportedly have also ordered an investigation into the matter.&nbsp;
