The case concerns Adani's attempts to secure solar energy contracts from the Indian government under terms that could potentially generate over $2 billion in profits.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Opposition INDIA bloc parties submitted a notice in the Rajya Sabha on December 10, seeking the removal of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, accusing him of partisan conduct as the Chairman of the Upper House. While the motion to remove Dhankhar would require a simple majority in the 243-member Rajya Sabha, the opposition lacks the numbers needed to pass it. However, opposition leaders maintained that the motion was an important step to uphold parliamentary democracy.</p>
<p>The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till noon as both opposition and government members exchanged heated accusations over the no-confidence motion against Dhankhar.</p>

<p>Bingsu is a popular Korean dessert made from finely shaved ice topped with various ingredients. The base of the dessert is the shaved ice, which has a fluffy, snow-like texture. <p>BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde on Tuesday claimed that like former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's "agenda" is that the minorities should have the first right to the country's wealth, and not tribals or Dalits.</p>
<p>He was replying to a question about the manifesto of the NCP led by Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, a BJP ally, which mentions a caste-based census. Congress too has been demanding such a survey.</p>
<p>"Caste-based census is not Rahul Gandhi's agenda. His agenda is what Manmohan Singh had stated earlier: minorities have the first right to the country's wealth," Tawde told reporters.</p>
<p>BJP welcomed anyone for a debate on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks in this regard, Tawde added.</p>
<p>"I am using the words minorities; he (Manmohan Singh) had said very clearly that Adivasis and Dalits would not get anything. And there is no comment on it by Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, (Mallikarjun) Kharge, which means they approve of it. Does it mean that (Maharashtra Congress president) Nana Patole and his allies Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray also want the same thing that Singh had said?" he asked.</p>
<p>Asked about opposition's allegation that the BJP lowered the standard of the contest with the unopposed election in the Surat Lok Sabha constituency, Tawde said, "If a candidate files nomination papers with errors, it does not mean standards of the campaign were lowered. We had even requested that independent candidates withdraw their nominations before filing. How can such a request be termed as lowering the campaign standards?" The BJP candidate was declared winner in Surat after the nomination of his Congress rival was rejected as his proposers disowned their signatures on the form and all other candidates subsequently pulled out of the race.</p>
<p>Tawde also alleged that Congress candidate from South Goa, Viriato Fernandes, had said that the country's Constitution should not be applicable to Goa.</p>
<p>"A Congress leader in Karnataka also made a similar statement. It is a fact that the country's Constitution was amended 80 times during the Congress regime....prime minister Narendra Modi started the celebration of Constitution Day. Unfortunately, Rahul Gandhi is continuously trying to mislead people. When there is no other issue, Congress starts a conversation about Constitution changing," the BJP leader said.</p>

<p>&nbsp;In a scathing attack against the BJP-led Central government, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that the electoral bonds scheme was the "world's biggest scam" and claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kept "his people" in the election commission.</p>
<p>The Supreme Court had struck down the electoral bonds scheme as unconstitutional in a ruling in February.</p>
<p>Addressing an election rally here, Rahul Gandhi also alleged that nearly 30 farmers were committing suicides in India every day and claimed that Modi has waived loans to the tune of Rs 16 lakh crore of the rich, while not even one rupee of farmers' loans was waived.He also alleged that after Modi's government assumed office, crores of people became poor in the country.</p>

Gandhi, a 53-year-old Congress MP from Wayanad, disclosed ownership of shares in 25 listed companies, with a total stock holding value exceeding 4.33 crore rupees as of March 15, 2024.</p>

<p>BJP state chief K Surendran, who is also the NDA candidate pitted against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, has 242 criminal cases against him.</p>
<p>As part of the statutory requirements, Surendran had recently published the details of his cases in the party mouthpiece which ran for three full pages.</p>
<p>Similarly, the saffron party's Ernakulam constituency candidate K S Radhakrishnan has around 211 cases against him.</p>
<p>"Most of the cases are related to Sabarimala protests which were held in 2018. Most of the cases are in court. When party leaders call for a strike or a protest, the police register a case in connection with that," George Kurian, the state general secretary of the BJP told PTI.</p>
<p>He said it's mandatory to publish the details of the cases against the candidates.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, BJP national general secretary B L Santhosh on Friday tweeted details of the cases against Surendran, Radhakrishnan, the party's Alappuzha candidate Shobha Surendran and Vatakara candidate Praful Krishna and said it was "hard to be a nationalist in some parts of Bharath."</p>

<p>Giving a breakdown of the number of cases against the BJP state chief, Kurian said 237 cases were related to Sabarimala protests while five were registered in connection with various agitations in Kerala.</p>
<p>The BJP and affiliated parties had organised statewide protests in 2018 against the Kerala government's decision to implement the Supreme Court order on women's entry to the hilltop Sabarimala shrine in Pathanamthitta district.</p>
<p>The case details of other party candidates are yet to come out.</p>
<p>The last date for filing nominations for the Lok Sabha elections is April 4. Scrutiny will be conducted on April 5 while the last date for withdrawing nominations is April 8.</p>
<p>As of today, the Election Commission has received 18 nominations. Left candidate M Mukesh from Kollam and BJP candidate from Kasaragod, Ashwini M L are prominent names who have filed their nominations.</p>
