In a shocking incident in Jharkhand's Ranchi, a DJ named Sandeep was fatally shot at close range in the early hours of Monday by an assailant wielding what seems to be a sophisticated rifle.&nbsp;
Sandeep succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.&nbsp;

The incident occurred at the 'Xtreme Sports Bar', where earlier in the evening, the assailant and his companions engaged in a brawl with the staff, including Sandeep, after allegedly causing a disturbance while dancing, Indian Express reported.
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha told PTI, "The accused has been nabbed from Gaya. He will be brought to Ranchi and a detailed interrogation will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the firing." The SSP said that soon after the incident, police started an investigation into it. "In the course of the investigation, it was found that the accused is in Bihar's Gaya. A team was immediately rushed and the accused was nabbed today," he said.
Sinha said that the accused was in an alcoholic state when the crime was carried out. "In video footage, he is being seen alone. It needs to be found out whether he was alone or other persons were also involved in the crime," the SSP said.
The accused was identified as Abhishek Singh, a resident of Ranchi.&nbsp;
The news outlet quoted the Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha sa saying, "At present, our investigation indicates that the assailant and his associates were involved in an altercation at the bar."&nbsp;
Several individuals have been detained for questioning, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. Police authorities also aim to determine the specifics of the firearm once the suspect is in custody.
Significantly, the accused in the shooting case has been arrested.&nbsp;

The five newborns and the mother have been kept in the neonatal intensive care unit. The woman hails from Chatra.

If he and Axar can continue the way they are, it will help the Indian cricket a lot." New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner also said it was "a bit of a shock" for everyone the way ball spun in the second innings. The woman, speaking through immense pain, recalled that she was beaten up with a hot tawa and rods.&nbsp;
According to media reports, Sunita was employed by the accused family 10 years ago. Tension prevailed in Jharkhand capital Ranchi on Sunday, as police strengthened security in sensitive areas and registered 25 FIRs against "thousands" of people in the aftermath of violent protests over controversial comments on Prophet Mohammad.
Internet services, however, were restored in the district after nearly 33 hours, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan said.
Around 3,500 security personnel are on guard at sensitive areas in Ranchi, where two people were killed and more than two dozen people critically injured, as protests and clashes rocked the city after the Friday prayers.
The protesters have been demanding the arrest of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled leader Naveen Jindal for their controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad.
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar Jha said personnel of the Rapid Action Force, anti-terrorism squad, special task force and district police have been deputed at strategic locations, including “38 identified vulnerable pockets”.
Fifty motorcycle patrol teams have also been pressed into service.
"Twenty-five FIRs have been registered against 22 named people, and thousands of unnamed people. No arrests have been made so far. Interrogation is underway based on inputs from intelligence, CID and social media," Jha said at a press conference here.
In reply to queries regarding police firing, he said there are certain standard operating procedures to deal with such situations, which were adhered to.
"Firing is the last resort. We followed all norms before resorting to firing, as the crowd was aggressive and uncontrollable. I don't want to talk much on this as the matter is under investigation," Jha said.
Ranjan said prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been lifted from six of the 12 police station areas.
Restrictions on movement of five or more persons continue in Kotwali, Lower Bazar, Chutia, Daily Market, Doranda and Hindipiri stations, but people have been allowed to purchase daily essentials while adhering to the provisions, he said.
Security in other parts of Jharkhand has also been beefed up, as per reports from districts.
Md Haji Hasim, the president of Daily Market Traders Association, told PTI that nearly 1,100 shops are shut.
Meanwhile, internet services in Ranchi district, which were suspended from 7 pm on Friday as a precautionary measure, resumed after 33 hours.
The internet services were restored at 4 am on Sunday, Ranjan said.
Police had on Saturday said 12 of its personnel and an equal number of civilians were injured in the protests that turned violent.
Eyewitnesses, however, have claimed the number could be over 60.
A RIMS official told PTI that eight injured people undergoing treatment at the medical facility are critical, with one Nadeem Ansari, 24, still on a ventilator and battling for life.

Don't fall in anybody's 'publicity trap': Nitish to Bihar voters

PTI, Banka/Bhagalpur:&nbsp;Beginning his election tours with a public meeting at Banka, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Wednesday alerted people not to fall in anybody's "publicity trap" else while their income would multiply but that of the common man would slide as was the case before the present dispensation came on the scene.
He cautioned people that any error in making a right decision while casting vote would pave way for return of condition that prevailed 15 years before the NDA assumed reins of the state in 2005 end.
After launching campaign for Bihar polls on Monday with a virtual rally and addressing two more digital rallies Tuesday, Kumar started addressing election meetings physically with a public meeting at Balua maidan in Banka district during the day.
From there he flew to Bhagalpur to address a second rally at Sultanganj and after that another one at Munger and the last in Mokama in the outskirts of Patna.
On return to the state capital, he addressed a virtual rally from the party headquarters in a bid to reach out to maximum number of people during the election.
Reports from ground zero suggested that while the CM and others sitting on the dais wore masks and maintained social distancing norms to ward off danger of spread of deadly coronavirus, among the general public who had turned up in good numbers in the rallies many were sighted without mask and standing in close proximity to each other.
Seeking vote for his party candidates, Kumar who heads the ruling Janata Dal (United), listed achievements of his governments in the last 15 years and reeled out figure to compare them with the situation prevailing in the state for an equal amount of time before that.
The RJD was in power in Bihar from 1990 to 2005. Kumar is at the helm of state affairs since then.
Kumar has already made it clear that "15 years vs 15 years" would be the dominant narrative in the present state elections.
"Look at the work and don't fall in anybody's publicity trap else while their income would multiply but yours would come down as was the case 15 years before we came on the scene to reconstruct Bihar," the JD(U)'s star campaigner said.
Making a scathing attack at his bete noire Lalu Prasad, Kumar said "some people work only for their wife, sons and daughters while for me the entire Bihar is the family for whom I work day and night." While, Prasad two sons and eldest daughter are occupying prominent posts in the party and also holding constitutional positions, neither Kumar's lone son nor any other members of his family are active in politics.
Kumar's wife has already died.
The RJD supremo's younger son Tejashwi Yadav has been accepted as their chief ministerial candidate by the Grand Alliance partners.
"Apne liye kaam karne wale andaar hai (those who work for themselves only are behind the bars today because of their deeds," he said while taking a veiled dig at Prasad.
Prasad is in jail in Ranchi after conviction in four cases of the multi-crore rupees fodder scam.
Taking a jibe at the opponents, he said "while we will work for Bihar, they will work for upliftment of their family. We will work for progress while they will spend time on 'satyanash' (destruction) of the state." The JD(U) president reiterated that if voters give him another chance, his government would unroll "Saat Nischay" (Seven resolves) part II, to take up more developmental programmes in the state.
Seven resolves part I, launched by the Kumar administration for its 2015-20 term, comprised seven schemes to ensure basic necessities such as supply of piped drinking water, construction of toilets and concrete drains and electricity connection to every household. Most of the projects have been completed.
Its second part will focus on enhancing skill of youths to brighten their jobs prospect, promoting entrepreneurship among women by providing them financial assistance, irrigation facility to every agriculture field and additional health facilities for people and animals.
He made special mention of work done for empowerment of women by giving them 50 per cent reservation in election to panchayats and urban local bodies and earmarking 35 per cent jobs for them in the state government.

After launching campaign for Bihar polls on Monday with a virtual rally and addressing two more digital rallies Tuesday, Kumar started addressing election meetings physically with a public meeting at Balua maidan in Banka district during the day.
From there he flew to Bhagalpur to address a second rally at Sultanganj and after that another one at Munger and the last in Mokama in the outskirts of Patna.
On return to the state capital, he addressed a virtual rally from the party headquarters in a bid to reach out to maximum number of people during the election.
Reports from ground zero suggested that while the CM and others sitting on the dais wore masks and maintained social distancing norms to ward off danger of spread of deadly coronavirus, among the general public who had turned up in good numbers in the rallies many were sighted without mask and standing in close proximity to each other.
Seeking vote for his party candidates, Kumar who heads the ruling Janata Dal (United), listed achievements of his governments in the last 15 years and reeled out figure to compare them with the situation prevailing in the state for an equal amount of time before that.
The RJD was in power in Bihar from 1990 to 2005. Kumar is at the helm of state affairs since then.
Kumar has already made it clear that "15 years vs 15 years" would be the dominant narrative in the present state elections.
"Look at the work and don't fall in anybody's publicity trap else while their income would multiply but yours would come down as was the case 15 years before we came on the scene to reconstruct Bihar," the JD(U)'s star campaigner said.
Making a scathing attack at his bete noire Lalu Prasad, Kumar said "some people work only for their wife, sons and daughters while for me the entire Bihar is the family for whom I work day and night." While, Prasad two sons and eldest daughter are occupying prominent posts in the party and also holding constitutional positions, neither Kumar's lone son nor any other members of his family are active in politics.
Kumar's wife has already died.
The RJD supremo's younger son Tejashwi Yadav has been accepted as their chief ministerial candidate by the Grand Alliance partners.
"Apne liye kaam karne wale andaar hai (those who work for themselves only are behind the bars today because of their deeds," he said while taking a veiled dig at Prasad.
Prasad is in jail in Ranchi after conviction in four cases of the multi-crore rupees fodder scam.
Taking a jibe at the opponents, he said "while we will work for Bihar, they will work for upliftment of their family. We will work for progress while they will spend time on 'satyanash' (destruction) of the state." The JD(U) president reiterated that if voters give him another chance, his government would unroll "Saat Nischay" (Seven resolves) part II, to take up more developmental programmes in the state.
Seven resolves part I, launched by the Kumar administration for its 2015-20 term, comprised seven schemes to ensure basic necessities such as supply of piped drinking water, construction of toilets and concrete drains and electricity connection to every household. Most of the projects have been completed.
Its second part will focus on enhancing skill of youths to brighten their jobs prospect, promoting entrepreneurship among women by providing them financial assistance, irrigation facility to every agriculture field and additional health facilities for people and animals.
He made special mention of work done for empowerment of women by giving them 50 per cent reservation in election to panchayats and urban local bodies and earmarking 35 per cent jobs for them in the state government.

Ahmedabad, PTI: A 16-year-old boy was detained on Sunday from Mundra in Gujarat for allegedly issuing threats against cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni's minor daughter, police said.
"The class 12 student from Namna Kapaya village was detained for questioning in connection with a disgusting threat message that was posted on the Instagram account of Mr Dhoni's wife Sakshi Dhoni a few days back," Kutch (West) superintendent of police Saurabh Singh told reporters.
The teenager "confessed" to have posted the threatening message on the Instagram account after the IPL 2020 match between KKR and CSK cricket teams, police said.
Ranchi police had shared information regarding the boy with Kutch (West) police and asked them to confirm if he was the one who had posted the threat message, police said.
"We detained him for questioning after Ranchi police informed us that the accused hails from Mundra in Kutch district."
"We have confirmed that the boy is the same who had posted the message. He will be handed over to Ranchi police as the FIR was lodged in that city," police said, adding that a team of Ranchi Police is likely to reach Kutch tomorrow to take custody of the teenager.
Dhoni is captaining the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricket team in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season.
The nature of the threat had caused a huge outrage on social media, with several cricketers, politicians and celebrities expressing disgust and demanding action.
