While RCB's dream run ended after winning 6 consecutive games, RR will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday.
Things didn't start off well for RCB as Faf du Plessis lost the toss and they were asked to bat first. Bengaluru tried to keep up with their aggressive approach but it didn't work out this time around.
Faf and Virat Kohli both couldn't score big and wickets at regular intervals reduced RCB to 122/5. Mahipal Lomror and Rajat Patidar though helped their side finish at 172/8.

As the Royal Challengers Bengaluru cancelled their practice session ahead of the IPL 2024 eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals, several media reports claimed that the decision was taken due to a terror threat to Virat Kohli.&nbsp;
However, according to a report in India Today, RCB delayed their practice session due to excessive heat in the afternoon and wanted to hold a delayed practice session. They were told that the floodlights could only be available till 6:30 in the evening, after which the team cancelled their session.
"They changed the time initially it was from 2 pm to 5 pm. Then they asked from 4 pm to 6 pm. We told the team that the floodlights are available only after 6:30 pm. It was permissible, that was not an issue. However, the weather was 45 degrees Celsius. So they decided not to practice to avoid any health issues to the players. There was no issue related to any security threat," a top source in the Ahmedabad stadium told India Today.
"We also gave them the option of giving indoor practice arena but they said they will skip the session due to heat," he further added.
Earlier, a report by Anandbazar Patrika, a Bengali daily claimed, the franchise had to cancel its only practice session before the start of the match due to security concerns.
It goes on to state that the Bengaluru-based franchise did not even hold the usual press conference on the eve of the knockout game in Ahmedabad.&nbsp;
Apart from allegedly arresting four individuals over suspected terror links and activity, the Gujarat police also hinted that the press conference and practice session cancellations were related to Kohli's security.&nbsp;
A police officer was quoted in the report as saying, 'Virat Kohli learned about the arrests after arriving in Ahmedabad. He is a national treasure, and his security is our utmost priority.'&nbsp;
After the teams were reportedly informed about the developments, RCB chose to cancel their session while Rajasthan went ahead.&nbsp;
Extra security measures were also taken to cordon off the hotel where players are residing in the city, with even IPL-accredited members not being allowed inside.&nbsp;

What happened in RCB vs CSK IPL 2024 match?
continued their fairytale run to grab the fourth and final play-off berth with a 27-run victory over defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their must-win last IPL league game here on Saturday.
It was the sixth straight win for RCB, who first posted a solid 218 for five after being invited to bat and then restricted CSK to 191 for 7 to make it to the play-offs for the ninth time in 15 seasons.
RCB survived a scare as Ravindra Jadeja (42 not out) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (25) had conjured up hopes of a turnaround after Rachin Ravindra's 61 but Yash Dayal held his nerves in the final over to take the hosts home.
Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already qualified for the play-offs.
While it was ecstasy for RCB, the legion of fans of Dhoni sank into despair as it could potentially be the last time they witnessed their 'Thala' perform on a cricket field.
Down and out after losing seven out of their first eight games, RCB had weaved five wins on the trot to script a remarkable turnaround and give themselves a chance to make it to the final four.
On Saturday, the hosts needed to win by at least 18 runs to book the final play-off berth and they did that in style with yet another impressive show at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The two teams finished at 14 points but RCB sneaked into the final four on the basis of a better net run-rate.
The equation was in favour of CSK when they began their run-chase as a 200-plus score would have sealed their place in the final four at the expense of RCB even if they had lost the game.
However, CSK lost skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) and Daryl Mitchell (4) to be reduced to 19 for 2 in the third over.
Ajinkya Rahane (33) and Ravindra (61) steadied the innings with a 64-run stand but Lockie Ferguson broke the partnership as the former was holed out by du Plessis and then the New Zealander was run out.
Du Plessis then took a screamer to remove Mitchell Santner as CSK slipped to 129 for 6 in 15 overs.
With their backs to the wall, Jadeja and Dhoni added a whirlwind 61 off 27 balls to bring the equation down to 11 off five balls to qualify for the play-offs.
With CSK needing 17 runs off the last six balls to qualify, Yash Dayal bowled the final over and he was straight away smashed for a six by Dhoni but the pacer came back strongly to dismiss the former CSK skipper and then conceded just one run in next five balls to seal it for RCB.
Earlier, sent in to bat, RCB's top-order, led by skipper du Plessis, fired in unison.
Du Plessis hit three fours and three sixes on his way to a 39-ball 54, his fourth fifty of the season, while Virat Kohli (47 off 29 balls), Rajat Patidar (41 off 23 balls) and Cameron Green (38 not out off 17 balls) also went on a six-hitting spree to put RCB on solid ground.
Openers Kohli and du Plessis began on a positive note and were 31 for no loss when there was a short rain interruption, causing a 40-minute delay.
However, on resumption, CSK pressed spinners into the attack. With the ball gripping and turning, spin duo of Maheesh Theekshana (25/0) and Mitchell Santner (23/0) troubled the batters as RCB reached 42 for no loss at the end of the Powerplay.
Kohli brought out his slog sweep to clobber two more sixes before holing out to Daryl Mitchell off Santner as RCB slipped to 78 for one in 10 overs.
Ravindra Jadeja (40/0 in 3 overs) was however slaughtered by du Plessis, who blasted a four and two sixes to pile up 20 runs off his third over and then completed his 35-ball fifty.
Rajat Patidar (41) then got into the act, depositing Theekshana for a maximum.
In the 13th over, du Plessis was unfortunately run out at the bowler's end but Patidar continued his onslaught, smashing Simarjeet Singh for a four and a six, while Thakur conceded 17 with Green thumping one over long-on to bring up the 150.
Green was, however, dropped by Gaikwad in the deep but Patidar continued to put the bowler under pressure as he smoked Deshpande for two sixes.
Green then picked up successive sixes off Thakur, who had Patidar caught at the other end but it was too late as cameos from Dinesh Kartik (14) and Glenn Maxwell (16) swelled the total.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru&rsquo;s Director of Cricket Mo Bobat admitted that some high-profile players in their ranks have failed to deliver and hinted at possible changes in the team in Monday&rsquo;s IPL match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The Royal Challengers are currently languishing at the 10th place after losing five out of six matches that they have played so far.
"There's no hiding away from the fact that we haven't played the way we want to play. Some of our high-profile players haven&rsquo;t performed in the way they want to. Ultimately, the players would be expecting to go out and deliver probably better than they have done,&rdquo; Bobat said on Sunday during his pre-match press conference.
&ldquo;We've already looked at a couple of different personnel changes. We'll continue to think about whether any selection changes can enhance the team,&rdquo; he added.
Bobat said it&rsquo;s easy for negative momentum to creep into a team in a league like the IPL.
&ldquo;If we can start by getting a win in the next game (vs SRH), you can hope to build some momentum. In competitions like this, negative momentum can build up quickly. You want to try and switch that to get some positive momentum.&rdquo;
With just two points in their kitty from six matches and a faltering net run-rate (-1.124) to go with, RCB&rsquo;s play-off chances are getting slimmer by each match.
However, Bobat did not count his team out from the race to the top four.
&ldquo;We started this campaign with 14 group games and the aim was to finish in the playoffs and all of that was in our own hands.
&ldquo;Now, we sit here with eight games to go with an aim to get into the playoffs and that is also in our hands, and we got to believe. That's the clear message we've given to the team,&rdquo; he said.
For that to happen, Bobat, the former England performance director, said RCB need to make improvements in batting and bowling departments.
&ldquo;We feel like we can improve in batting and bowling. When you look at the team, a lot of champion cricketers are in our team but we haven't played that level. So, we're looking for performance improvements,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;We're trying to get to a positive powerplay. We're trying to make sure that the opposition is under pressure in the middle-overs. Our middle to lower-order has played well so far. I think that has been more of a positive.&rdquo; Bobat admitted that the introduction of Impact Player has increased the responsibility of bowlers in the IPL, and they need to bowl with more aggression.
&ldquo;We want to be able to bowl with aggressive intent. We want to take more wickets. I think the way the IPL has gone with impact players; I don't think you can just try and not concede runs.
&ldquo;I think the best way to not concede runs is to take wickets because if you try to not concede runs, then they've got the impact player coming in, and there's eight batters, maybe nine batters coming at you.&rdquo; The 40-year-old Englishman was also not worried about the relatively slow scoring of RCB frontline batters, including their talisman Virat Kohli.
The three top-order batters Kohli (141), skipper Faf du Plessis (139), Rajat Patidar (138) have scored runs at a middling tempo whereas the corresponding SRH batters struck runs at rate above 170.
Bobat was not worried about the disparity.
&ldquo;The point on Virat (strike rate) seems to get a lot of media and air time in India. Among all the openers that have played in the competition this season, he&rsquo;s scored more runs than most of them.
&ldquo;He&rsquo;s also offering a decent strike rate and I&rsquo;m not spending too much time worrying about Virat&rsquo;s batting.&rdquo; However, Bobat wanted RCB to get tall scores in excess of 200 more often.
&ldquo;We have seen in the competition some big scores, 200 has been breached plenty of times. That sort of thing is linked to confidence, people at the top of their game can take slightly more risks.
&ldquo;Our guys haven&rsquo;t felt like that. We saw some good signs in the last game (vs MI) where people other than Virat contributed. We can build from there,&rdquo; he signed off.

Vettori said RCB might have learned lessons from their past defeats in this IPL and the home side could put SRH under pressure.
"RCB will obviously keep learning from what's happened in the previous games and they're going to come out pretty aggressive. We're going to be under a lot of pressure as a bowling unit for how aggressive they are going to be.
"So, we need to find ways to counter that and then keep up with our batting form which has been really good," said Vettori.
The former New Zealand captain said it would be naive to take a big score at the Chinnaswamy stadium for granted.
"&ldquo;I think most teams come here thinking that it's going to be a high-scoring fixture. I've probably seen a couple of surfaces this year that have been slightly slower," he said.
The former left-arm spinner, who also had a long association with RCB as a player and coach, said teams prefer to chase at Chinnaswamy because of the ease to control the backend of the innings.
"We understand the ball travels here and the boundary sizes are small. So, I think you have to keep challenging yourself to try and take wickets because any team can score that 60-70 at the backend.
"I know no score is safe (here) and I always feel like you're in the game, particularly when you are chasing. Most teams will come here and try to chase because they feel that it's easier to navigate the endings," he explained.
Vettori had a word of praise for SRH middle-order batter Heinrich Klaasen, who has been in fine fettle in this IPL.
The South African batter has made 186 runs from five matches at a frenetic strike-rate of 193.
"He's been exceptional for a long period of time and he's in that category of the likes of (Andre) Russell where teams really fear him in that backend and they set up their bowling plans to try and negate him.
"But he's been so good for such a long period of time that he has allowed us to either win the games or always be in the game." he added.

Quinton de Kock&rsquo;s fiery 81 and pace sensation Mayank Yadav&rsquo;s youthful brilliance fashioned Lucknow Super Giants&rsquo; 28-run romp over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL 2024 match on Tuesday.
Lucknow constructed their 181/5 around Quinton De Kock&rsquo;s 81 (56b) and Nicholas Pooran&rsquo;s unbeaten 40 (21b).
RCB threatened to miraculously scale 182 briefly through Mahipal Lomror, who produced a forceful 33 off 13 balls.
However, Mayank&rsquo;s scorching three-wicket haul (3/14) was not to be denied as the hosts were bundled out for 153.
But in reality, RCB&rsquo;s chase never really took off &ndash; partly by their own follies and partly by the excellence of Lucknow bowlers.
Lucknow opened the bowling with two spinners &ndash; Manimaran Siddharth and Krunal Pandya &ndash; and it did surprise Faf du Plessis (19 off 13) and Virat Kohli (22 off 16).
But the introduction of pacer Naveen-ul-Haq saw Kohli upping the ante, smoking him for six over the bowler's head.
The left-arm spinner Siddharth soon fetched the massive wicket of in-form Kohli as the latter&rsquo;s attempt to go inside out resulted in a simple catch to Devdutt Padikkal at backward point.
RCB went on a slide from that point losing skipper du Plessis, to a mindless run-out, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green and found themselves at 58 for four in the eighth over.
This was the period when Mayank cranked up the pace in his three-over spell (3-0-13-2).
Maxwell tried to pull a 151 kmph laser beam from Mayank, but the high pace meant that the Aussie could not time his pull, resulting in a simple catch to Pooran at short mid-wicket.
Green was beaten by Mayank&rsquo;s raw pace as the delivery straightened a bit after pitching on the good length to rattle his off-stump.
The right-arm quick later added Rajat Patidar (27) to his kitty to reduce RCB to 103 for six, and the home side was sinking fast then.
Earlier, De Kock manifested his exceptional hitting skills with a fifty but Lucknow could not progress beyond a par score.
The left-hander selected the bowlers and positions around the ground to play his shots with precision but the RCB bowlers did not allow other batsmen, except Pooran, a free run.
The Super Giants went off the block quickly, reaching 32 for no loss in three overs and then making it 54 in the Power Play.
Most of the runs came from the blade of De Kock, who took a particular liking for pacer Mohammed Siraj.
The South African slammed him for three sixes &ndash; two in succession &ndash; spread across two overs &ndash; two powerful pulls and a handsome loft over mid-wicket.
KL Rahul, who captained the side after coming in as an impact sub against Punjab Kings in the previous game, started slowly making six runs off his first 10 balls.
But a six off left-arm pacer Yash Dayal gave his innings momentum and later he swept spinner Maxwell for a six.
However, Rahul perished soon as an attempt to pull Maxwell&rsquo;s good length delivery ended up in the palms of Mayank Dagar inside the circle.
The second substantial alliance in LSG innings followed Devdutt Padikkal&rsquo;s exit as De Kock and Marcus Stoinis (24, 15b) added 56 runs off 30 balls for the third wicket.
De Kock, who brought his fifty in 36 balls, kept his end going during this alliance as Stoinis hammered a six each off Maxwell and Green as LSG rolled on.
But the blooming partnership ended when Stoinis&rsquo; half-hearted swat was pouched by Dagar at point. De Kock departed soon, lofting Reece Topley to Dagar at long-on.
The LSG were 143 for four in 16.3 overs at that stage and needed a few more runs to reach safer shores.
Pooran, who biffed left-armer seamer Topley for three sixes in a row in the 19th over and two more maximums in the final over off Mohammed Siraj, gave them those during his final assault.
While RCB were handed their 3rd loss in 4 outings, LSG registered their 2nd consecutive win.
