Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed well-wishers at her residence on Thursday morning as they gathered to congratulate her on assuming office.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, she prepared to propose BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht&rsquo;s name for the position of Deputy Speaker in the Delhi Assembly.
As per the Legislative Assembly&rsquo;s List of Business issued on Wednesday, "Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister, to move the following motion: 'That, Mohan Singh Bisht, a Hon'ble Member of this House be chosen as the Deputy Speaker of this House.'"
A second motion will be put forward by MLA Anil Kumar Sharma and seconded by Gajender Singh Yadav. "Anil Kumar Sharma, Hon'ble Member, to move the following motion: 'That, Shri Mohan Singh Bisht, a Hon'ble Member of this House be chosen as the Deputy Speaker of this House.' Shri Gajender Singh Yadav, Hon'ble Member, to second the Motion," the statement read.
The Delhi Assembly is also set to discuss the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report titled 'Performance Audit Report on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi' during today&rsquo;s session.&nbsp;
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Gupta presented the CAG report in the Assembly, leading to an uproar from the opposition, who demanded a broader probe into the alleged irregularities in the liquor policy.
Before the session, the Chief Minister held a meeting with BJP MLAs to discuss the report and ensure the House proceedings run smoothly.&nbsp;
The audit, covering the regulation and distribution of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and foreign liquor in Delhi from 2017-18 to 2020-21, is among 14 pending CAG reports assessing the performance of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Newly elected Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her Council of Ministers will meet with PWD and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials on Friday to review the status of roads and water supply in the city. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Gupta told reporters outside her residence Friday morning that the first meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday approved the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme and soon its benefits will be available to people, including senior citizens. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; "Today, the Cabinet will meet with the PWD and Jal Board officers and review all works (related to the departments). The issue of potholed roads will be seriously taken up," the chief minister said. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; BJP blamed the previous AAP government for the poor condition of roads, shortage of drinking water, supply of dirty water, sewer overflows and choked drains in the city and campaigned in the elections over the issues. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The Chief Minister and her Council of Ministers were sworn in at a grand ceremony held at Ramlila Maidan, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries on Thursday afternoon.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by BJP&rsquo;s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Several union ministers and chief ministers from neighboring states were also present, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Having worked in various organizational capacities and served as a councillor, Rekha Gupta is well-versed in the issues affecting Delhi. With the BJP&rsquo;s manifesto promising a range of reforms, she is expected to take an active, hands-on approach from the outset. She now becomes the fourth woman to hold the office of Chief Minister in Delhi, following leaders from the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party.
Rekha Gupta, an elected MLA from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, has played a key role in BJP&rsquo;s women&rsquo;s wing, serving as the general secretary of the Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha and a member of its national executive committee. In these roles, she spearheaded multiple initiatives for the upliftment of marginalized communities and women.
Her political journey began with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). A graduate of Delhi University&rsquo;s Daulat Ram College, she served as the President of the Delhi University Students&rsquo; Union (DUSU) in 1996-97, actively voicing student concerns.&nbsp;
Later, as a councillor from North Pitampura in 2007, she worked on infrastructure projects, including the development of libraries and parks. She also holds an LLB degree and is the founder of AAS, an NGO dedicated to social causes. In 2023, she contested the Delhi mayoral elections but lost to AAP&rsquo;s Shelly Oberoi.
A first-time MLA, Rekha Gupta was chosen over senior BJP leaders, reportedly due to the party&rsquo;s focus on women&rsquo;s leadership. She is known for maintaining a low profile compared to other Delhi BJP leaders. Her appointment as Delhi&rsquo;s Chief Minister came after days of speculation regarding the party&rsquo;s choice for the position. The BJP secured a historic mandate in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 seats and unseating the Aam Aadmi Party from power.
With the BJP emphasizing women empowerment, Rekha Gupta&rsquo;s elevation is seen as a significant move in boosting the party&rsquo;s appeal among women voters. She is currently the only woman Chief Minister from the BJP.
Following her election as the BJP legislature party leader, Rekha Gupta expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party leadership, and the people of Delhi for entrusting her with this responsibility. She pledged to dedicate every moment to fulfilling this role.
"It is a miracle, it is a new motivation and a new chapter. If I can be the CM, this means ways are open for all the women... Anyone who has been corrupt will have to give an account of each and every rupee," she stated.
She further thanked the BJP leadership for placing their trust in her. "It is a huge responsibility. I thank PM Modi and BJP high command for having faith in me... I will fulfill my responsibility with utmost honesty... My first priority is to complete all the commitments our party has made, and the second priority is that all our 48 MLAs will work as Team Modi. I never thought I would be a CM of Delhi," she added.

Delhi Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta on Thursday assured that her government will fulfill its promise of providing Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to women and added that the AAP would be held accountable for its actions during its rule. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The first installment of the monthly support would be credited to eligible women's accounts by March 8, Gupta told reporters outside her residence. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Ahead of the polls, the BJP's manifesto aimed to outdo the Aam Aadmi Party's announcement of Rs 2,100 monthly support if it came to power. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Slamming the previous AAP government, Gupta said, "They will have to give an account for each and every penny to the people." &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Ahead of her swearing-in ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan later in the day, Gupta visited the Shri Marghat Wale Hanuman Baba temple at Kashmiri Gate. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Gupta, who was elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party on Wednesday, emphasised that delivering on their promises is her top priority. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; "Fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the responsibility of all 48 BJP MLAs in the capital. We will definitely fulfill all our promises, including financial support for women. Women will 100 per cent get monetary support into their accounts by March 8," she said. March 8 is observed as the International Women's Day. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; BJP MLAs Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, who defeated former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra and Pankaj Singh will be induced into Gupta's Cabinet, as per to a Union Home Ministry's gazette notification. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Speaking to PTI before his oath-taking, Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra said the BJP government in Delhi will implement PM Modi's vision for the city. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; BJP MLA Pankaj Singh told PTI, "The party has decided to make me a minister and the responsibilities that come with it, I will do them dutifully. I am here to serve the people." &nbsp; The BJP secured a landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats and ending the AAP's decade-long rule. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Gupta, a former Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) president and municipal councilor, will be sworn in as the fourth woman CM of Delhi at a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan later in the day, in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and other dignitaries.
