India is known for its diversity, cultural and traditional beauty. The 75th Republic Day has witnessed the achievements marked in the year 2023 in the form of tableaus and 30 folk and traditional dance forms from Punjab, Rajasthan, Kashmir and various other states performed by more than 200 women performers.
We also witnessed Kathakali from Kerala, Manipuri Raas Leela, Bharatnatyam, Kathak and other traditional Indian dance forms creating a vibrant and colourful performance at the Kartavya path in the pressence of President of France, Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu.&nbsp;

Kathakali from Kerala: Kathakali is a traditional dance-drama form from Kerala, India, characterized by elaborate makeup, colorful costumes, and dramatic storytelling through intricate facial expressions and gestures. It combines elements of dance, music, and acting to convey stories from Hindu mythology and epics.
Odissi from Odisha: Odissi is a classical dance form originating from the Indian state of Odisha. The other folk dances that the country witnessed are Rajasthani, Gujarati, Jharkhand folk dance, The Dumhal dance from Kashmir, among few others.

The national capital has been placed under a blanket of security for the 75th Republic Day celebrations on Friday with more than 70,000 personnel deployed across the city, police have said.
Police have also issued an advisory on traffic arrangements while restrictions have been put in place, especially in central Delhi, for the smooth movement of vehicles in the city on Friday.
As many as 14,000 personnel have been deployed at and around Kartavya Path for the security of the Republic Day parade, they said, adding that around 77,000 invitees are expected at Kartavya Path to watch this year's parade.
The grand celebrations on Kartavya Path, with an overarching theme of projecting the nation's women power and democratic values, will be graced by French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Special Commissioner of Police (Security) Dependra Pathak said the security, traffic and district units were working in real-time coordination with the central security agencies for the January 26 celebrations.
He said about 14,000 security personnel with focussed roles and responsibilities will be deployed at the main operational area of Kartavya Path.
Commandoes, quick reaction teams, PCR vans, anti-sabotage checks and SWAT teams will be deployed at the specific strategic locations at Kartavya Path and all around the city, Pathak said, adding that the Delhi Police has prepared to tackle the aerial threats also.
Police have ensured that peace prevails in Delhi's "vulnerable" areas following Monday's consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, he added.
Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, Zone II) Madhup Tiwari said at least 77,000 invitees are expected at the parade. "We have divided the New Delhi district, where the parade will take place, into 28 zones to ensure security. Each zone is headed by the DCP or additional DCP-level officers," Tiwari said.
Booths for missing persons, helpdesks, first-aid kiosks and separate facilitation booths where the visitors can deposit their vehicle keys before the parade have been set up, he stated.
According to the traffic advisory, the parade will start at 10.30 am from Vijay Chowk and proceed towards the Red Fort grounds. There will be a related function at the National War Memorial, India Gate, at 9.30 am.
There will be extensive traffic arrangements and restrictions along the parade route. The parade will pass through Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Subhas Chandra Bose roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhas Marg and Red Fort, the advisory stated.
No traffic movement has been allowed on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm on Thursday. The restrictions will continue till the parade is over. No cross-traffic will be allowed on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road from 10 pm on Thursday till the end of the parade, the advisory said.
C-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed for traffic from 9.15 am on Friday till the parade crosses Tilak Marg. From 10.30 am on Friday, traffic on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhas Marg will not be allowed, it said.
Flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms such as paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), microlight aircraft, remotely-piloted aircraft, hot-air balloons, small size-powered aircraft, quadcopters or parajumping from aircraft are prohibited over the jurisdiction of Delhi till February 15.
No heavy transport/light goods vehicles were being allowed to enter Delhi from other states from 11 pm on Thursday till the parade was over. These vehicles were being allowed to ply between ISBT-Sarai Kale Khan and ISBT-Kashmere Gate on the Ring Road from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm on Friday, the advisory stated.
"People with bona fide e-invitation cards or e-tickets for attending the Republic Day ceremony have been issued coupons on the production of government-issued identity cards at stations, which are valid for exits from Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations only to reach Kartavya Path," a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) statement said.

<h3>How to make tri-colour sandwiches</h3>
Ingredients:
To make easy tri-colour sandwiches at home you need: Bread, grated coconut - 2 cups, mint leaves - 1 cup, coriander Leaves - 1 cup, green chilli - 2 Nos, red chilli - 3 Nos, tamarind, salt and water.
To begin making this sandwich, you need to first make two kinds of chutneys.
Green chutney
In a mixer jar add coconut, mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies, tamarind and uppu. Add very little water and grind it into a thick smooth chutney.
Orange Chutney
Next we make the orange chutney. &nbsp;To the mixer jar, add coconut, red chillies, tamarind and uppu. Add little water to get a smooth and thick chutney.
Now, let's make the tri-colour sandwich.
Take 3 slices of bread, cut off the crust and keep them aside. Next, spread orange chutney on the first slice and green chutney on the third slice. Place the second slice of bread over the third slice (with green chutney). You can add your favourite veggies including capsicum and paneer to enhance the taste of your patriotic sandwich.&nbsp;

Republic Day: 26 tableaux highlighting 'women empowerment' to roll down Kartavya Path

The Centre has already announced that the 75th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path will be women-centric with 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka' to be the main themes.

From women's roles in socio-economic activities to contribution of women scientists, 26 tableaux are set to roll down the Kartavya Path highlighting "women empowerment" this Republic Day.
The Centre has already announced that the 75th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path will be women-centric with 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka' to be the main themes.
Highlighting women's crucial roles in socio-economic activities, the Manipur tableau will feature women working with delicate fibres of lotus stems and making yarns using traditional 'charkhas'.
The front side of the tableau will feature a woman collecting lotus stems from Manipur's Loktak lake. Women riding on boats and collecting lotus stems will be displayed on the sides of the tableau.
A replica of 'Ima Keithel' - a unique all-women market - has been made behind the Manipur tableau. The market is several centuries old and is run entirely by women.
The tableau from the northeastern state will also feature popular fabrics innovated by Manipuri women. The process of making lotus silk was innovated by Bijayshanti Tongbram, India's first lotus silk maker.
Besides displaying critical systems and technologies, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to portray the significant contribution of its women scientists in core areas of defence research.
From an anti-satellite missile to a third generation anti-tank guided missile and light combat aircraft Tejas, women's involvement in DRDO will be prominently highlighted in their tableau.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will showcase one of its biggest feats, Chandrayaan-3, at its landing site Shiv Shakti point on the Moon.
The tableau of Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways will display the development of India's maritime sector - from rise in the number of women seafarers to development of lighthouse and cruise tourism.
The Madhya Pradesh tableau, on the other hand, will showcase the state's achievement of women's integration directly into the development process through its welfare schemes.
Highlighting the self-reliant and progressive women of Madhya Pradesh, the tableau will focus on the active participation of women in the areas from modern service sector to small-scale industries and traditional domains.
The tableau will have Madhya Pradesh's first woman fighter pilot, Avani Chaturvedi, of Indian Air Force (IAF), who will be seen standing beside a fighter plane model. It will also feature women artists painting on pots, the Badal Mahal gate of Chanderi and the weavers of globally renowned Chanderi, Maheshwari and Bagh print sarees.
While Odisha's tableau will display women's involvement in handicrafts and handloom sectors, Chhattisgarh's tableau will reflect female dominance in the tribal communities of Bastar.
A tableau on Dhordo village in Kutch, which recently made it to the list of 54 best tourism villages, will be showcased in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi, the Gujarat government said on Monday.
An official release said, "'Dhordo: Global Identity of Gujarat's Border Tourism' will be the theme of the tableau to be showcased during the parade on the Kartavyapath on the 75th Republic Day celebrations on January 26." Dhordo, which the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) included on the list of 'best tourism villages of 2023', will take centre stage in showcasing "the unique blend of tradition, tourism and technology that defines the essence of a developed India", the release said.
The Tamil Nadu tableau will showcase the polling process implemented during 10th century Chola era, by displaying leaf ballots in pots.
Rajasthan's tableau will be a demonstration of the development of women's handicraft industries along with the festive culture of the state. The tableau will portray the famous 'Ghoomar' dance of Rajasthan, depicted through a mannequin of a dancer. It will also have a beautiful statue of Meera Bai, who is considered to be a symbol of devotion and power.
The tableau will also display a glimpse of the rich handicraft traditions, including bandhej, bagru print and applique work.
Haryana's tableau will display empowerment of women in their state through the government programme 'Mera parivar - Meri pehchan'.
The tableau will feature Haryanvi women holding digital devices to symbolise how the Digital India initiative enabled them to access government schemes with just one click.
The Chhattisgarh tableau will reflect female dominance in the tribal communities of Bastar. It has been decorated with bell metals and terracotta artefact to display their traditions.
The tableau of Andhra Pradesh this year is on the subject of transforming school education and making the students globally competitive. The Ladakh tableau will showcase Indian women's ice hockey team which comprised Ladakhi women.&nbsp;

Vehicular traffic is likely to be affected in central Delhi on Tuesday during a full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade, the police have said in an advisory.
The full dress rehearsal will have the same route as that of the parade on Republic Day.
The rehearsal will start at 10:30 am from Vijay Chowk and pass via Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhas Marg before culminating at the Red Fort, the advisory stated.
In order to facilitate smooth passage of the parade, traffic movement on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate has been stopped from 6 pm on Monday. The stretch will reopen at the end of the rehearsal on Tuesday.
There is no cross-traffic on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road from 11 pm on Monday till the end of the parade. C-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed to traffic from 9:15 am till the parade crosses Tilak Marg, the advisory stated.
Traffic on both directions will not be allowed on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhas Marg from 10:30 am. Cross-traffic will only be allowed depending on the movement of the parade, it stated.
Commuters are requested to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the parade route from 9:30 am to 1 pm, according to the advisory.
Metro services will remain available from all stations during the dress rehearsal. However, boarding and de-boarding from the Central Secretariat and the Udyog Bhawan stations have been stopped from 5 am and the restrictions will continue till 12 pm, it stated.
Though no restrictions have been imposed on traffic movement from north Delhi to New Delhi railway station or Old Delhi railway station yet, the advisory has urged people to plan their journeys in advance to avoid possible delays.
City bus routes will be curtailed at Park Street/Udyan Marg, Aram Bagh Road (Paharganj), the Kamla Market roundabout, Delhi Secretariat (IG Stadium), Pragati Maidan (Bhairon Road), Hanuman Mandir (Yamuna Bazar), Mori Gate, ISBT-Kashmere Gate, ISBT-Sarai Kale Khan and Tis Hazari Court, it stated.
Buses from Ghaziabad bound for Shivaji Stadium will take National Highway-24, Ring Road and terminate at Bhairon Road. Those coming from National Highway-24 will take the right turn on Road No 56 and terminate at ISBT-Anand Vihar, the advisory said.
Buses to Wazirabad Bridge from Ghaziabad will be diverted at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi.
Flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms such as paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aircraft systems, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small size powered aircraft, quadcopters or para jumping from aircraft are prohibited over the National Capital Territory of Delhi till February 15.
The advisory has requested motorists to observe traffic rules and follow directions of personnel deployed at intersections.

The Delhi Police on Monday issued a traffic advisory for Bharat Parv, scheduled to be held at Red Fort during January 23-31.
Food courts and handicraft stalls will be set up at 15 August Park and Madhav Das Park for the general public, it said.
Like earlier, this edition of Bharat Parv will showcase the Republic Day tableaux, performances by Armed Forces bands, cultural performances by zonal cultural centres and state/Union Territory troupes, a pan-India food court and crafts bazaar, pavilions of state governments and central ministries, among others, it stated.
"The inaugural function of Bharat Parv will be held on Tuesday and it will be open to the general public till January 31. As per past experience, it is expected that the event will also attract a large number of visitors on all days from 12 pm to 10 pm. Many VIPs/VVIPs will also visit Red Fort on this occasion," according to the advisory.
Traffic is being diverted from Chatta Rail Crossing, Subhas Park T-point, Shanti Van Chowk and Delhi Gate, according to requirements during the period of Bharat Parv so that congestion is avoided, it said.
Traffic restrictions or regulation or diversion may be imposed on Netaji Subhas Marg from Chatta Rail Chowk to Delhi Gate and Nishad Raj Marg from Shanti Van crossing to the Subhas Park T-point, the advisory said.
Many paid parking facilities are available near Red Fort and visitors and the general public can use it depending on their need.
The general public has been advised to avoid the roads or stretches where there will be diversions and the area where the function is organised. Commuters going to New Delhi and Old Delhi railway stations and the ISBT should leave with sufficient time in hand to accommodate possible delays, the advisory said.
People are advised to use public transport facilities, especially the Delhi Metro, to reach the venue. Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Kashmere Gate are the nearest metro stations that can be used to reach the Red Fort, it said.
The advisory urged the public to park vehicles only at designated lots and avoid roadside parking as it hinders the normal traffic flow.
It has also asked people to inform the local police or the nearest personnel if they spot any unusual or unidentified object or person in suspicious circumstances.

According to ministry sources quoted by ANI, the criticism for not selecting tableux from the two states is baseless.
The sources said that Punjab's tableau was rejected after the third round, while that of West Bengal only made it to the second round.
Defending the decision, the sources added that in the last eight years, Punjab's tableau was featured on Republic Day six times, where as that of Bengal five times.
"As states have to be treated equally, it is essential that states should be given the opportunity to display their tableaus as per a formula. GOI is preparing a 3-year program covering all states/UTs which will be shared with all the States/UTs. Hence, the criticism by these states is baseless," the sources said.

El-Sisi is visiting India as the two countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. The Indian government said, "The visit is an opportunity to review and strengthen our multifaceted ties."
The Egyptian leader arrived in India on 24 January for a 3-day visit, with wide-ranging talks and inkinf of half a dozen agreements scheduled for the following day.
The Egyptian president previously visited India in October 2015 to participate in the third India-Africa Forum Summit which was followed by his state visit in September 2016.
This is for the first time that the President of Egypt has been invited as the chief guest to India's Republic Day celebrations. A military contingent from the Egyptian Army will also participate in the Republic Day parade.

"Akash Missile system is a newly inducted weapon system which is one of the most advanced weapon systems currently in use today indigenously manufactured and designed by Bharat Dynamics and DRDO. This system is entirely configured on mobile platforms," she said.
Captain Shivashish Solanki termed Republic Day as a very big event which is watched across the globe.
"It is a matter of great pride and honour for being given this opportunity to represent my regiment and the Corps of Engineers in the Republic Day Parade. The Republic Day parade is a very big event for the entire nation which is watched across the globe," he said
