During a rally, Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav lifted his shirt to show a waist belt he was wearing for back pain. He said he was suffering from unbearable back pain, and that he was on painkiller injections and medicines for the past 10 days.
Tejashwi Yadav shared a video on X on May 9. The caption of the video read, "Due to unbearable back pain, I am roaming around among you with painkiller injections and medicines. I have also tied a belt around my waist now. The doctors have advised me to take bed rest for three weeks and not to stand or walk."
"Even in this situation, I am amongst you, for you. Elections happen once in five years, if I don't fight for you now, then you will have to bear poverty, inflation and unemployment for another five years. I will not sit quiet until I provide jobs to the youth," the post further added.&nbsp;
Tejashwi Yadav is the leader of the opposition in Bihar Assembly. There are 42 seats from Bihar in the Lok Sabha, and 26 of the constituencies are yet to vote.&nbsp;

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav released his party Rashtriya Janata Dal's manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections on April 13.
The party made 24 promises in what it called &lsquo;Parivartan Patra&rsquo;, including ₹1 lakh per year to &ldquo;sisters&rdquo; from poor families on Raksha Bandhan.
Yadav said the INDIA alliance, if voted to power, will build five new airports in Bihar. He also promised special status for the state and implementation of Old Pension Scheme.
Yadav said, "From 15th August, people will start getting freedom from unemployment. If our Govt comes to power, the process of providing jobs will start from 15th August. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, we will provide Rs 1 lakh to our sisters belonging to the poor household, every year. We will provide gas cylinders at ₹500."
"If our INDIA alliance is voted to power, we will give government jobs to one crore youth across the country...Today unemployment is our biggest enemy and BJP people did not talk about this, they had promised to give 2 crore jobs but we do what we say and will give 1 crore jobs," Yadav added.

Union minister Giriraj Singh on Saturday claimed that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and its ally RJD, founded and headed by Lalu Prasad, were heading for a merger.
The senior BJP leader made the claim when reporters asked him about Kumar's insistence that all constituents of the INDIA bloc finalise seat-sharing arrangements for Lok Sabha polls by January.
"I share personal equations with Lalu ji. He has whispered many things in my ear that I cannot disclose in public. But let me tell you this much that the JD(U) is going to merge with RJD soon. So, the question of seat sharing does not arise," said Singh with a glint of mischief.
Notably, both Prasad and Singh recently boarded the same flight to return from Delhi where the RJD supremo was attending the INDIA bloc meet while the Union minister was taking part in the just concluded Parliament session.
Upon landing in Patna on Thursday evening, Singh had told journalists that on board the plane Prasad, his bete noire, had said, "The time has come to make (son and Deputy CM) Tejashwi Yadav the chief minister of Bihar." Yadav, who was on the same flight, later deftly thwarted the attempt to drive a wedge between himself and his boss, claiming that the Union minister had, in fact, given vent to his own frustrations over uncertain prospects in the BJP and the central government while exchanging pleasantries with the father-son duo.
When reporters asked Yadav about the latest forecast of a "merger" by the BJP leader, he replied, "Singh likes to make outrageous statements in a desperate bid to hog some limelight. Nobody would have paid attention to him had he not said something outlandish." Similar views were expressed by JD(U) president Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lalan' when he was asked about the prediction of his party's merger with RJD.
"Let us not discuss Giriraj Singh. He is a TRP monger. He will keep saying things that help him grab eyeballs," said Lalan, who also took a dig at the BJP leader for his advocacy of 'Jhatka' meat, with an appeal to Hindus to shun consuming 'Halal' meat.
"We know that in days of yore, Giriraj Singh had a voracious appetite and could finish off 2.5 kg of mutton. He should tell us whether he was then okay with Halal or ensured a special supply of Jhatka for himself," remarked Lalan.

Interestingly, Singh's newfound fascination for 'Jhatka' meat had on Thursday drawn a tongue-in-cheek remark from Tejashwi Yadav too, who claimed that the BJP leader asked his father, known to be a generous host, to organise a feast of mutton.
Yadav claimed that in reply his father had told him that he would be happy to do so but first needed to arrange for an animal slaughtered by a single blow of the blade, the process which the Hindi colloquialism 'Jhatka' denotes.
When Singh was asked about this, he said with obvious irritation, "Yes, I am looking forward to having a feast of mutton along with Lalu ji. And I will ensure that like me he too eats Jhatka."&nbsp;

The Enforcement (ED) Friday conducted searches in multiple cities of Bihar in connection with a money laundering investigation into the land for jobs 'scam' case in which RJD leaders Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi were questioned recently by the CBI.
The searches are covering some leaders linked to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in towns like Patna and Phulwari Sharif, officials said.
The case pertains to people allegedly given employment in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold at cheap rates to the Yadav family and its associates, they said. The CBI has filed a charge sheet in the case against Prasad, his wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi and 14 others under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and all the accused have been summoned on March 15, officials had said.
The ED case, filed under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, stems from this CBI complaint.
Both Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi were questioned by the CBI in this case recently.

As he said the government should devote equal attention to the poor and corporate houses, Goyal responded by saying "inka bas chale to desh ko Bihar bana dein (if they have their way, they will turn the country into Bihar)." On Thursday, Jha said an insult to Bihar is an insult to the entire country, and demanded Goyal apologise for his remark.
Leader of Opposition and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge too joined Jha in demanding an apology from Goyal.

Amid reports of a rift betwen the ruling BJP-JDU alliance in Bihar, speculation is rife over  parties reaching out to their MLAs .
The Indian Express reported that Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's JD (U) have called for separate meetings of their MLAs in Patna. NDA ally Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) also called a meeting of its MLAs.
Meanwhile, the CM reportedly also dialled Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. 
The development has come in the wake of an ongoing war of words between the JD(U) and BJP. On Sunday, Nitish Kumar's party alleged its ally "BJP's hand in conspiracies" against the state government. JDU chief Lalan Singh in a press conference said his party would stick to its decision of not joining the Union Council of Ministers, a decision it had taken in 2019.
The CM also didn't attend the NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting of states presided by Prime Minister Modi on August 7
Former JD(U) leader RCP Singh was the only representative of the party in the Union cabinet. He tendered his resignation on Sunday after his party sought explantion from him over courrption allegations. Singh was also denied a Rajya Sabha seat by his party for the Upper House polls in June.
The possibility of a JD (U)-RJD tie-up have  been doing rounds for quite some time. The ruling JD(U) also extended its support to Opposition's Tejashwi Yadav's protest against Centre on price rise. It said that the RJD leader was well within his rights to do so

Amid reports of a rift betwen the ruling BJP-JDU alliance in Bihar, speculation is rife over regional parties reaching out to their MLAs . The possibility of a JD (U)-RJD tie-up has been doing rounds for quite some time. The ruling JD(U) also extended its support to Opposition's<a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/rjd-s-tejashwi-yadav-on-agnipath-is-this-hidden-agenda-of-rss-1655628432659"> Tejashwi Yadav</a>'s protest against Centre on price rise. It said that the RJD leader was well within his rights to do so.&nbsp;

As the fate of Bihar's NDA coalition government hangs in the balance amid reports of a tiff between the ruling JD (U)-BJP alliance, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to meet Governor Phagu Chauhan at 1 pm on Tuesday. 

In July 2017, Kumar left the Mahagathbandhan comprising of RJD, Congress, and other parties to join hands with the BJP, and continued as chief minister. &nbsp;

After ending the alliance with the BJP, JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to meet Governor Phagu Chauhan on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the JD(U) and the Opposition RJD MLAs, reportedly, held separate meetings in Patna sparking speculations of a possible alliance between the two parties after Kumar snapped ties with BJP.
In 2015, JD(U) contested and won assembly polls in alliance with RJD. In July 2017, Kumar left the Mahagathbandhan comprising of RJD, Congress, and other parties to join hands with the BJP and continued as chief minister. &nbsp;
Earlier, eaders from the Nitish Kumar-led party dismissed the speculations and said that today&rsquo;s meeting with the MLA's was 'nothing out of the ordinary'.

&ldquo;Our party had held many such meetings of MPs and MLAs in the past. We have been told that the current meeting has been called to discuss organisational matters. Never heard about any major crisis in the NDA,&rdquo; Rajya Sabha MP Ram Nath Thakur told PTI.
There are also reports of the BJP holding a meeting at Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishor Prasad&rsquo;s residence.&nbsp;
The meetings have been called following a phone conversation that Nitish reportedly had with Congress president Sonia Gandhi. JD(U) leaders were said to have spoken to RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav earlier.&nbsp;

The meeting is scheduled to commence at 11 AM.
While the outcome will be known once the meeting is over, more than one of the prospective attendees denied the party’s ties with the BJP having worsened to an extent to call for a realignment.
“Our party had held many such meetings of MPs and MLAs in the past. We have been told that the current meeting has been called to discuss organisational matters. Never heard about any major crisis in the NDA," said Ram Nath Thakur, a Rajya Sabha member, low key but known to enjoy proximity to the chief minister by virtue of being the son of late Karpoori Thakur, the latter's political mentor.
Another confidant of Kumar, Leshi Singh, who is an MLA and a minister in his cabinet, said, “I was away for the last four or five days but I have an idea of how things have been. There does not seem to be any major crisis facing the NDA government. It goes without saying, though, that the party will abide by any decision taken by the chief minister”.
Meanwhile, MLAs of the opposition RJD, the largest party in the state assembly, have also been commanded by their leader Tejashwi Yadav to remain present at a meeting which will be held at his mother Rabri Devi’s Circular Road bungalow, a stone’s throw from the CM’s Anney Marg residence.
Chetan Anand, a young RJD MLA who is serving his first term, said, "Rumours of political realignment have been afloat for a couple of years. Let us not make any rash assumptions. Once the party leadership takes any decision, it will be definitely made known to all."

Ahead of the JD(U)-led grand alliance's floor test in Bihar Assembly, the CBI on Wednesday launched search operations against leaders of the RJD, a partner in the alliance, in connection with the “land for jobs” case.

In May 2022, the CBI filed a corruption case against Lalu Yadav and his family members for allegedly accepting plots of land in exchange for jobs during his stint as Union Railways Minister.&nbsp;

Ahead of the JD(U)-led grand alliance's floor test in Bihar Assembly, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday launched search operations against leaders of the RJD, a partner in the alliance, in connection with the &ldquo;land-for-jobs&rdquo; case it is investigating against former Bihar chief minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family.
The raids are reportedly being carried out at the premises of RJD treasurer and MLC Sunil Singh as well as two Rajya Sabha MPs from the party, Faiyaz Ahmad, and Ashfaque Karim.
Property associated with former RJD MLC Subodh Rai has also been reportedly raided by CBI officials.
In May 2022, the CBI had filed a corruption case against Lalu Yadav and his family members for allegedly accepting plots of land in exchange for jobs during his stint as Union Railways Minister.
The agency had also carried out searches at 16 locations associated with Prasad and his family members, including his daughter Misa Bharti across Delhi, Patna and Gopalganj in Bihar.&nbsp;
According to the investigating agency, as many as 12 people were appointed in Group D posts in the Indian Railways from Patna in lieu of family members of Lalu Yadav getting plots of land.
As many as 16 people have been named as accused in the CBI's FIR including Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, his daughters Misha Bharti and Hema Yadav.

The newly formed cabinet in Bihar expanded on Tuesday when 31 ministers took oath, with the RJD getting a lion’s share, and care having been taken to represent all sections of the society, including the minorities.

The RJD has given seven berths to Yadavs, including Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of party president Lalu Prasad. It also gave representation to the upper castes in keeping with the wider social outreach.

The newly formed cabinet in Bihar expanded on Tuesday when 31 ministers took oath, with the RJD getting a lion&rsquo;s share, and care having been taken to represent all sections of the society, including the minorities.
Among the ministers who took oath, 16 were from RJD, 11 from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s JD(U), two from Congress, one from ex-CM Jitan Ram Manjhi&rsquo;s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and one Independent.
The number of Muslims in the new cabinet is five, up from only one in the previous NDA government that fell last week after the chief minister severed ties with the BJP.
The RJD has, predictably, given a significant number of seven berths to Yadavs, including Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of party president Lalu Prasad.
It, however, also gave representation to the upper castes in keeping with the wider social outreach by deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav.

Among those from the RJD quota were Kartikeya Singh, a Bhumihar MLC, and Sudhakar Singh, a Rajput, whose father Jagadanand Singh is currently the state president.
The JD(U) has retained its ministers from the previous dispensation.
The Congress is represented by a Dalit and a Muslim.&nbsp;
