Reaching out to the Army' Northern Command troops looking after the operational area of Jammu &amp; Kashmir, President <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/president-kovind-lauds-india-s-players-for-olympics-performance-1628954083656">Ram Nath Kovind </a>broke away from tradition and has 'bada khana' with the soldiers and their families here on the occasion of Mahanavami, the culmination of the nine-day-long Navratri, on Thursday.
The president began his visit to the region on Thursday from the Union Territory of Ladakh, where he performed the Sindhu Darshan puja at the Sindhu Ghat in Leh, officials said.
The Sindhu riverbank, known for its beautiful &amp; scenic landscape, is situated near Shey village in Leh and is hosting a multitude of cultural programmes, including the Sindhu Darshan festival.

Reports say Prime Minister Modi is holding repeated meetings with people concerned to keep up to date with the developments in Ladakh. Hours after India thwarted China&rsquo;s attempt to change the status quo by carrying out &lsquo;provocative military movements&rsquo; in Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur reached Delhi to brief top govt authorities about the latest face-off.
Reports add that during meetings with the PM, it was established that India is prepared for any eventuality.
On the night of August 29 and 30, Chinese troops &lsquo;carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo&rsquo; violating the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements, but the attempt was thwarted by India, the government has said.
A Brigade Commander level meeting is in progress at Chushul to resolve ongoing issues.
