A Pune resident filed an RTI query asking about the number of leaves taken by the prime minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not taken a single day of leave so far in his tenure of 9 years, the Prime Minister's Office said in a reply to a Right to Information query.&nbsp;
According to multiple media reports, the query filed by a Pune resident asked two questions.&nbsp;
The first question was about the number of days the prime minister has attended office since assuming power. The PMO replied 'The Prime Minister is on duty all the time. No leave has been availed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since taking office.'
The second question was about the number of events Modi has attended after becoming prime minister.&nbsp;
In reply, the PMO provided a link to its website which shows the accumulated number of events attended by Modi in India and abroad surpasses 3,000.&nbsp;

A right to information request made by an activist has reportedly revealed that 500 rupee notes worth Rs 88,000 crore are missing from the Indian economy.
Media reports citing activist Manoranjan Roy's RTI request say the three mints had issued 8,810.65 million pieces of the newly designed Rs 500 notes but RBI only received 7,260 million.
However, in a statement on June 17, the RBI refuted claims saying all banknotes supplied from the printing presses to RBI are duly accounted for and reports of missing banknotes are 'not correct'

The Nasik mint in the RTI mentioned that it had supplied 1,662.000 million pieces to the RBI in 2016-2017, while the Bengaluru mint supplied 5,195.65 million pieces and the Dewas mint supplied 1,953.000 million pieces to the RBI during this time. The total of the supplied notes from the three mints comes to 8,810.65 million pieces, however, the RBI has received only 7260 million pieces of the ₹500 notes.

Talking to reporters, Dhakad said he had filed an application seeking information about the PMAY about two months back, but the Bairad civic body denied the information.

For Right to Information (RTI) activist Makhan Dhakad it was an occasion that he had to celebrate as he was finally getting 9,000 pages of information, which he had sought, after a two-month-long struggle and payment of Rs 25,000. So elated was he that he reached the local civic body office on a bullock cart amid the beating of drums to collect the documents.
Dhakad, who resides in Bairad town of Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh, created a buzz among locals when he reached the municipality office amid pomp to collect the loads of papers containing information about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) that he had sought under the RTI.
A video of the his act surfaced on social media.
Talking to reporters, Dhakad said he had filed an application seeking information about the PMAY about two months back, but the Bairad civic body denied the information.
The activist said that he was asked to pay Rs 25,000 by the civic body, but despite the payment, the information was not provided to him. He then appealed to the higher appellate authority of the Urban Administration Department in Gwalior, which ordered the civic body to provide the information to him.
The RTI activist claimed that he had arranged funds by taking loan from his acquaintances.
"So when I was told that the information I had sought under RTI was ready, I decided to celebrate the occasion by hiring a band and going on the bullock-cart to carry 9,000 pages of information," he said.

He said it took him and his four friends two hours to count the pages.
When asked, Chief Municipal Officer of Bairad Nagar Parishad, J N Para, told PTI that the civic body provided information to Dhakad only after he deposited the fee.
Four employees were assigned the work and it took five days to arrange the photocopies of all the documents asked by the activist, he said.&nbsp;

10k electoral bonds worth 1 crore each recently printed by Indian government

The bank responded to two RTIs by one Kanhaiya Kumar wherein it also revealed that the government had last printed electoral bonds in 2019.

In a reply to RTIs, the State Bank of India has said that the Union government recently printed 10k electoral bonds worth 1 crore each.&nbsp;
It stated that 10,000 electoral bonds were printed between August 1 and October 29. The installments of electoral bonds for Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections were sold between October 1 and October 10.
The bank responded to two RTIs by one Kanhaiya Kumar wherein it also revealed that the government had last printed electoral bonds in 2019. At that time, bonds worth Rs 11,400 crore were printed at the India Security Press in Nashik.
Over the years, electoral bonds of Rs 1 crore have been the most popular. According to SBI's reply, about 94 per cent of the total electoral bond value sold so far has been in the form of bonds worth Rs 1 crore. Electoral bonds of denominations of Rs 1,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10 lakh are also included.

The Supreme Court while dismissing pleas by banks stated that financial information from lenders is to be provided under the Right To Information Act and that the central bank must not 'protect' the banks&nbsp;The apex court while reviving its 2015 judgement dismissed the plea made by 10 banks which means that information regarding&nbsp;bad loans , losses from trading operations, even show-cause notices and fines imposed by RBI&nbsp;all fall under the purview of RTI.&nbsp;
In its 2015 verdict, the top court ruled that RBI was not in any fiduciary relationship with any bank. &ldquo;RBI has no legal duty to maximize the benefit of any public sector or private sector bank.&nbsp;RBI has a statutory duty to uphold the interest of the public at large, it said.

Government authorities have ordered an inquiry after several MNREGA&nbsp;cards were discovered in MP's&nbsp;Khargone&nbsp;district with images of Bollywood&nbsp;actors, Deepika&nbsp;Padukone,&nbsp;and Dia&nbsp;Mirza. The issue was brought to light by RTI&nbsp;activist Sandeep&nbsp;Madahar&nbsp;who claimed that it was not a clerical or technical issue and suspects that it is a well-planned scam to siphon off lakhs&nbsp;of public money. While at least a dozen job cards feature the images of the female actors, the cardholders are mostly men who belong to the PiparKheda&nbsp;Naka village. Madahar&nbsp;also revealed that in his scrutiny he found out that although the cards displayed on the MNREGA&nbsp;website had renewed serial numbers, the cardholders either did not get their cards renewed or did not&nbsp;have the card at all.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Government authorities have ordered an enquiry after several MGNREGA&nbsp;cards were discovered in MP's&nbsp;Khargone&nbsp;district with images of Bollywood&nbsp;actors, Deepika&nbsp;Padukone,&nbsp;and Dia&nbsp;Mirza. The issue was brought to light by RTI&nbsp;activist Sandeep&nbsp;Madahar&nbsp;who suspects that it is a well-planned scam to siphon off public money.&nbsp;The names and addresses are real on about a dozen of job cards but the photographs are of the two actors instead of the actual beneficiaries.&nbsp;Madahar&nbsp;revealed upon visiting the village he&nbsp;found that the people were hardly aware of renewal of their cards and that the serial numbers on the new cards didn&rsquo;t match with that of their old cards. None of them had even applied for the renewal.&nbsp;
