Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy facilities on Friday morning, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.
"The enemy continues its terror. Once again, the energy sector across Ukraine is under massive attack," Galushchenko wrote in a post on Facebook.
Ukraine's energy system has already suffered 11 Russian attack waves this year, which have caused widespread damage and lengthy power cuts all over the country.
Friday's attack prompted additional restrictions on power usage for consumers, according to the national grid operator Ukrenergo.
All of Ukraine was under air raid alarms.
Local authorities reported multiple explosions in the southern city of Odesa and Kyiv regional authorities said air defence systems were operating.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on partners to deliver more air defence systems urgently.
"Russia aims to deprive us of energy. Instead, we must deprive it of the means of terror. I reiterate my call for the urgent delivery of 20 NASAMS, HAWK, or IRIS-T air defense systems," Sybiha wrote in a post on X.

The United States and NATO on Friday rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin's demands that Ukraine should withdraw from territory claimed by Moscow to end the Kremlin's invasion.
"Putin has occupied, illegally occupied, sovereign Ukrainian territory. He is not in any position to dictate to Ukraine what they must do to bring about peace," Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said at the end of a NATO meeting in Brussels.
"He could end this today, if he chose to do that, and we call upon him to do that, and to leave Ukrainian sovereign territory."
Putin said Friday that Moscow would only halt its offensive on Ukraine if Kyiv effectively surrenders by pulling its troops out of the east and south and dropping its bid for NATO membership.
Ukraine immediately rejected Putin's hardline "conditions" to halt the full-scale military offensive that he launched in February 2022, with Kyiv trying to corral international support at a major peace summit in Switzerland this weekend.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg also slammed the conditions set out by Putin for initiating Ukraine peace talks.
"This is not a proposal made in good faith," Stoltenberg told reporters.
"This is a proposal that actually means that Russia should achieve their war aims, by expecting that Ukrainians should give up significantly more land than Russia has been able to occupy so far," he said.
"This is a proposal of more aggression, more occupation and, and it demonstrates, in a way, that Russia's aim is to control Ukraine."

Though the CBI is yet to disclose the identity of the arrested, several media revealed their identities as Arun and Yesudas Junior, both residents of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
The latest arrest follows an earlier operation on April 24, where two people were detained and sent to judicial custody in the case. Nijil Jobi Bensam is a resident of Kanyakumari, while Anthony Michael Elangovan is a resident of Mumbai.&nbsp;
According to the CBI, Bensam worked as a translator on a contract basis in the Russian defence ministry and was believed to be one of the key members of the network operating from there to facilitate the recruitment of Indian nationals in the Russian Army.&nbsp;
"These traffickers have been operating as an organized network and were luring Indian nationals through social media channels like YouTube and also through their local contacts and agents for highly paid jobs in Russia," the CBI said in an official statement.
The officials said that it is likely that some more arrests could be made.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had busted a major racket of travel agents that was luring Indian youths with opportunities in Russia but pushed them in the Russia-Ukraine war zone after confiscating their passports, they said.
The central probe agency's FIR has listed 17 visa consultancy companies, their owners and agents spread across India, they said.
The agency has booked them under Indian Penal Code sections related to criminal conspiracy, cheating and human trafficking.
The CBI has alleged that the accused persons through their agents trafficked Indian nationals to Russia on the pretext of getting them jobs related to the Russian army, security guards and helpers, for a better life and education, and a huge amount was charged from them.
The agents also duped students by providing them admission to dubious private universities in Russia instead of government or public universities by offering discounted fees, and visa extensions. The students were ultimately left "at the mercy" of local agents, it said.
Once these aspirants reached Russia their passports were seized by the agents there and they were forced to join the armed forces after combat role training.
The CBI has found 35 instances in which youngsters were taken to Russia after being lured with false promises of high-paying jobs via social media channels and local contacts and agents.&nbsp;

The United States believes that Ukraine's eastern town of Avdiivka could soon fall to Russia. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that Ukraine is running low on ammunition and that Russia could take advantage of the situation.
"Avdiivka is at risk of falling into Russian control," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said, citing Ukraine's ammunition shortages at Thursday's briefing.
Kirby said Avdiivka could fall largely "because the Ukrainian forces on the ground are running out of artillery ammunition".
"Russia is sending wave after wave of conscript forces to attack Ukrainian positions. And because Congress has yet to pass the supplemental bill, we have not been able to provide Ukraine with the artillery shells that they desperately need to disrupt these Russian assaults.
"Russian forces are now reaching Ukrainian trenches in Avdiivka, and they're beginning to overwhelm Ukrainian defences."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has promised &ldquo;maximum attention&rdquo; on the eastern front, where both side's forces are engaged in one of the fiercest fighting in recent months.
Russia has been trying to capture the city since October and has surrounded it on three sides, leaving limited resupply routes for Ukrainian forces.
For Russia, capturing Avdiivka is a crucial aim as it would allow it complete control of the two eastern Donbas provinces &mdash; Donetsk and Luhansk.
Zelensky, who arrived in Germany on Friday before heading to France later in the day, said his government was sending to the region as much support as possible.

Ukraine military said that its troops have withdrawn from some positions in Avdiivka.

Russia's top investigative agency, known as the Investigative Committee, opened a criminal probe Thursday on charges that the crash was a terrorist act.
Ukraine responded by casting doubt on the fact that POWs were aboard and putting forward their own theories, including implying that the plane may have posed a threat.

NATO on Tuesday signed contracts worth $1.2 billion to acquire over 200,000 155-millimetre artillery shells in the face of Russia's invasion on Ukraine.
Members of the Western military alliance have drained their stocks sending shipments of heavy ammunition to help Ukraine's forces battle Russia in a brutal war of attrition.
The latest deals -- signed with French firm Nexter and Germany's Junghans Microtec -- are estimated by officials to cover around 220,000 shells and deliveries to NATO members will start at the end of 2025.
"It is important that our allies refill their own stocks as we continue to support Ukraine," NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said.
The US-led alliance last year launched a plan to bolster defence production and has since inked joint procurement contracts for ammunition worth some $10 billion.
Those include a deal to buy up to 1,000 European-produced Patriot air defence missiles that was signed last month.
The European Union has also launched its own efforts to increase defence production, but the 27-nation bloc is falling far short of a target of supplying Kyiv one million artillery shells by March.
The push to refill stocks and ramp up output comes as doubts swirl over future support for Ukraine from key backer the United States.
Stoltenberg insisted that Kyiv's supporters "will support Ukraine with the systems and the weapons and ammunition they need to prevail as a sovereign, independent country."
He said the alliance for now did not "see any direct or imminent threat against any NATO ally" from Russia and had stepped up its eastern defences to dissuade Moscow from any aggression.

The Kyiv city administration said on its Telegram account that more than 20 Iranian-made drones were detected over the capital's air space and at least 15 of them were shot down.
It added that a critical infrastructure point was hit, without giving more details.
Kyiv region Gov. Oleksii Kuleba said on Telegram that some infrastructure facilities were damaged, as well as private houses, and at least two people were injured.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that explosions were heard in two districts, Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi. He said also on Telegram that there were no immediate casualties reported, and that the emergency services are working in the area.
Although the capital seemed the main target of the latest Russian attack, the armed forces said that other places in the country were also targeted.
Ukraine's air force said on Telegram that they were able to destroy 30 of at least 35 self-explosives drones that Russia launched across the country from the eastern side of the Azov Sea.

The Biden administration has announced a round of criminal charges and sanctions related to a complicated scheme to procure military technologies from US manufacturers and illegally supply them to Russia for its war in Ukraine.
Some of the equipment was recovered on battlefields in Ukraine, the Justice Department said, and other nuclear proliferation technology was intercepted in Latvia before it could be shipped to Russia.
The Justice Department charged nine people in separate cases in New York and Connecticut, as well as two oil brokers for Venezuela.
The defendants are accused of acquiring the military technology from US companies and then laundering tens of millions of dollars for wealthy Russian businessmen and other sanctioned entities. Some of the defendants are also accused of brokering illicit oil deals for the Venezuelan state-owned oil company.
&ldquo;As I have said, our investigators and prosecutors will be relentless in their efforts to identify, locate, and bring to justice those whose illegal acts undermine the rule of law and enable the Russian regime to continue its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine,&rdquo; Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.
The five defendants charged in New York are all Russian nationals, and two have been arrested. All four defendants in the Connecticut case &mdash; three Latvians and one Ukrainian &mdash; were taken into custody months ago at the request of US authorities.
The criminal charges complement the latest round of Biden administration sanctions targeting Russia.
The Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced sanctions on Wednesday against one of the men charged by the Justice Department, designating Yury Orekhov and two of his firms, Nord-Deutsche Industrieanlagenbau GmbH and Opus Energy Trading LLC, for procuring advanced semiconductors and microprocessors used in fighter aircraft and ballistic and hypersonic missile systems among other military uses.
Orekhov and the firms ultimately sent the materials to Russian end-users, including companies designated by various federal agencies, in violation of US export controls.
The Justice Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control worked in coordination to identify the Russian network.
Along with sanctions on members of Russian President Vladimir Putin's inner-circle, the US has frozen Russian Central Bank funds and imposed aggressive export controls.
The latest effort is dedicated to preventing Russia from procuring military technologies.
Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo said in a statement on Wednesday that Russia has increasingly struggled to get the technologies it needs to sustain the war &ldquo;thanks to the unprecedented sanctions and export controls imposed by our broad coalition of partners and allies.&rdquo; &ldquo;We know these efforts are having a direct effect on the battlefield," he said, &ldquo;as Russia's desperation has led them to turn to inferior suppliers and outdated equipment.&rdquo; Information from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, presented on Friday at the Treasury Department, said Russia has lost more than 6,000 pieces of equipment since the beginning of the war in late February and is turning to Iran and North Korea for supplies.
