Union Home Minister <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/won-t-impose-curbs-on-religious-practices-shah-in-bengal-1616320127868" target="_blank" >Amit Shah</a> on Monday claimed the Congress had created divisions between Assamese and Bengalis, plain and hill dwellers, Upper and Lower Assam, while the BJP had &ldquo;united Assam through development.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Congress follows the policy of divide and rule, while with the BJP&rsquo;s policy of &lsquo;Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas&rsquo; has brought development for the smaller tribes and communities,&rdquo; said Shah, speaking at a rally in Jonai in Assam&rsquo;s Dhemaji district on Monday.
He later addressed rallies in Udalguri and Majuli, which is CM Sarbananda Sonowal&rsquo;s constituency. While Jonai and Majuli will vote on March 27, Udalguri &mdash; which falls under the Bodo Territorial Region &mdash; will vote on April 1.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his Cabinet colleague Himanta Biswa Sarma arrived at the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday to finalise seat-sharing pact ahead of the the Assam assembly polls. The BJP and its two Assam allies, the AGP and the UPPL are expected to finalise by today the number of seats to be contested by each party. While the AGP, which won 14 constituencies in the 2016 assembly elections, may get around 22 seats to contest, the UPPL, which is a new partner of the BJP and does not have any MLA now, is expected to get around 12 seats to contest, news agency PTI reported quoting sources. After the joint meeting, the BJP leaders are expected to meet separately at the residence of Nadda to scrutinise the list of candidates for the polls in Assam.&nbsp;

Addressing the gathering after her induction as DSP, Hima said that she had dreamt of becoming a police officer when she was young and it was like a childhood dream come true.&nbsp;Further, Sonowal said Hima&rsquo;s appointment as DSP will motivate the youth to pursue excellence in sports.
Hima Das, in her first competitive race in more than a year, bagged gold at the Indian Grand Prix II in the women's 200m event on Thursday. She clocked 23.31 seconds to finish first.&nbsp;Hima, who is yet to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, had run her last competitive race in August 2019. She had suffered a lower back injury at the 2018 Asian Games and that forced her to miss the World Championships in Doha in September 2019.&nbsp;

Ganeshguri Flyover to be Ready by Durga Puja? Workers Work 24x7

Around 300 workers are working round the clock to complete the Ganeshguri flyover in Guwahati. Assam PWD (Public Works Department) Minister Himanta Bsiwa Sarma had said that the government is looking at making the flyover operational before Durga Puja celebrations in October this year. The foundation stone for the flyover was laid by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in March last year. The flyover will connect RG Baruah Road with Bishnu Rabha flyover and is expected to reduce congestion by about 35%. The 476 metre long flyover is being constructed under the state owned priority scheme at a cost of Rs 58.76 crore.
