BJP MP and former Wrestling Federation of India President, Brij Bhushan Singh, has been granted interim bail by Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court in the sexual harassment case.
The bail was also granted to his co-accused, former assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation, Vinod Tomar.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal made the decision, with the regular bail plea scheduled for a hearing on Thursday.
On July 7, the judge had summoned Brij Bhushan and Tomar, directing them to appear in court on July 18.
Last month, the Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet under Sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 354A (sexually coloured remarks), 354D (stalking) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code, 1860 against them.&nbsp;
However, a cancellation report was filed in the POCSO case filed by a minor wrestler against Singh.

The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has issued summons to former WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and co-accused Vinod Tomar in the sexual harassment case against the duo.
The court summoned the former WFI administrators after taking cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police. Both Brij Bhushan, a BJP MP, and former WFI assistant secretary Tomar, were accused by a number of wrestlers of sexual harassment.
They have been directed to appear before the court on July 18.

Earlier this month, the French General Inspectorate of Education, Sport and Research said Le Graet should not return to his role because his "behavioural excesses are incompatible with the exercise of his functions".
Le Graet had been in charge of the FFF since 2011 but was facing increasing pressure to move aside following remarks he made in December about Zinedine Zidane's interest in coaching the French men's team.
Those remarks triggered a backlash from politicians, commentators, and current and former players, including Kylian Mbappe, who said Le Graet's comments showed his "disrespect for the legend" Zidane.

The video was apparently, taken during an event in Ramanathapuram district where Sasikala Pushpa had visited to pay respects to Dalit leader and freedom fighter Immanuel Sekaran on his death anniversary.
The saffron party leader, however, has not yet reacted to the video.

Seven cases were registered against the warden by Hayathnagar police under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police said that the accused joined as a warden a month ago and often approached students and forced them to watch pornographic videos on his phone.
He even used to abuse children who slept alone by touching them and forced himself into the bathrooms while they were bathing, the police added.
The children are being sent to a psychologist for counselling to help them to tackle the mental agony and the harassment faced by them, said the police.

Sexual harassment case won't prima facie stand if woman is wearing ‘provocative dress': Kerala court

Seventy-four-year-old Chandran was granted anticipatory bail on August 12 after he had produced photographs of the complainant, in this case, a woman, along with the bail plea.

While granting bail to writer and social activist Civic Chandran in a sexual harassment case, a district sessions court in Kerala's Kozhikode observed that the offence under Section 354 (A) (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code is not prima facie attracted when the woman is wearing &lsquo;sexually provocative dresses&rsquo;.
74-year-old Chandran was granted anticipatory bail on August 12 after he had produced photographs of the complainant, in this case, a woman, along with the bail plea.
"The photographs produced along with the bail application by the accused would reveal that the defacto complainant herself is exposing to dresses which are having some sexual provocative one. So Section 354A will not prima facie stand against the accused", the order read as reported by Live Law.in
The court observed that from the wordings of Section 354, it is very clear that there must be an intention on the part of the accused for outraging the modesty of a woman.
&ldquo;In order to attract this Section, there must be physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures. There must be a demand or request for sexual favours. There must be sexually coloured remarks,&rdquo; the court observed.
Chandran, on August 2, had obtained anticipatory bail in another sexual harassment case filed against him.
The prosecution argued that Chandran made sexual advances toward the complainant, a young female writer, and tried to outrage her modesty at an event.

The Koyilandi police registered a case against the accused for offences under Sections 354A(2), 341 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code, as per Live Law.in
Chandran, however, accused the woman of raising a false complaint against him.

Even after acquittal in the rape case, the MP will continue to remain in jail in the pending case of abetment of suicide filed in Lucknow.

A special court of Varanasi on Saturday acquitted Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Lok Sabha MP Atul Rai in a case of alleged rape and cheating filed in 2019 by a woman who died by suicide outside the Supreme Court last year after accusing senior police officers of colluding with the accused.
Anuj Yadav, the advocate of the MP, said that the special judge of the MP-MLA court, Siyaram Chaurasia, gave the decision in favour of Atul Rai, who represents the Ghosi Lok Sabha seat and has been in jail since June 2019 in the case.
"Evidence could not be submitted on the behalf of the victim, and the incident could not be proved," the lawyer said.
Even after acquittal in the rape case, Yadav said that the MP will continue to remain in jail in the pending case of abetment of suicide filed in Lucknow.
On May 1, 2019, the 24-year-old woman filed a complaint of rape against Atul Rai and others. She alleged said that Rai took her to his flat in Varanasi, raped her, made objectionable videos and took photographs. After this, he threatened to put the videos online.

On June 22, 2019, Rai surrendered in court, and since then, he is lodged in Naini Jail in Prayagraj.
In August last year, the woman, a resident of Mau and a student at a university in Varanasi, along with her friend and witness in the case died after self-immolation outside the Supreme Court in Delhi.
Before committing suicide, the two had recorded a Facebook Live video in which the alleged victim disclosed her identity and claimed that she had filed the rape case against Rai in 2019. She also alleged that some senior police officers were supporting the accused.
Rai was booked by the Hazratganj police in Lucknow for abetting the suicide of the two.
In July, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, while denying bail to Rai, had asked Parliament and the Election Commission of India to take effective measures to remove criminals from politics and break the unholy nexus among them, politicians and bureaucrats.
A bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh said it is the responsibility of Parliament to show its collective will to restrain criminals from entering politics or legislature to save democracy.
Considering the criminal history of 23 cases against Rai, the might of the accused, evidence on record and the possibility of tampering with the evidence, the bench said, it did not find any ground to grant bail to him at this stage.

While speaking to The Indian Express, the national champion said that she was removed from the national team, after the team’s assistant coach, Gautamani Devi ‘thought she was in a relationship with another female cyclist’. 
Clarifying that Devi misunderstood their relationship, the Andaman-based cyclist spoke about the discomfort she faced before being removed from the national camp. The 27-year-old said that the coach & the assistant coach constantly harassed her by ignoring her, taunting her, and eventually she was also isolated from the rest of the cyclists. 
Herold was removed from the team in 2018, when she was the country’s fastest cyclist in 200m sprint and 500m time trial events. 
The National champion also accused Sharma of ‘slapping’ her in 2015. ‘The ac in my room was not working, I went to a fellow boy’s room for which he slapped me twice, she said.
Apart from Herold, 2 other members of the national team have also accused Sharma of ‘constantly harassing and threatening them’ which they said, affected their performance over the years. 
Sports Authority of India dismissed RK Sharma from his position after a top cyclist alleged that the coach forced her to stay in his room, offered her a post-training massage, forcefully tried to pull her towards himself, and asked her to sleep with him during a camp in Slovenia in May.

An Indian cyclist has accused the national sprint team chief coach, RK Sharma of inappropriate behaviour, during her Slovenia camp, as per a report in The Indian Express. The Indian cyclist who has now been brought back to India on the orders of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) had reportedly complained to the SAI and the Cycling Federation of India. The "bane of live-in relationship", a "byproduct" of rights conferred under Article 21 of the Constitution, is leading to a rise in sexual offences and promiscuity, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has said. Justice Subodh Abhyankar of the Indore bench of the high court made the observation while rejecting a pre-arrest (anticipatory) bail plea of a 25-year-old man accused of raping a woman. In the order dated April 12, the court said, “Taking note of the spurt of such offences in recent times arising out of live-in relationships, this court is forced to observe that the bane of live-in-relationship is a by-product of Constitutional guarantee as provided under Art. 21, engulfing the ethos of Indian society, and promoting lascivious behaviour, giving further rise to sexual offences.” Article 21 guarantees the right to life and personal liberty. The courts, over the years, have widened its ambit to cover many things including the right to dignity and privacy. Highlighting the rise in legal disputes arising out of live-in relationships, the high court said, “Those who wanted to exploit this freedom are quick to embrace it, but are totally ignorant that it has its own limitations, and does not confer any right on any of the partners to such relationship." The case diary and documents revealed that the complainant woman got pregnant more than twice and aborted the foetus under pressure from the applicant (her then live-in partner), the court noted. When their relationship fell apart, the woman got engaged to some other person, but the applicant, "being a jilted lover" resorted to blackmailing her, the judge said. The applicant even sent video messages to the would-be in-laws of the woman where he threatened that he would commit suicide and they would also be held responsible for it besides the woman's family, the court noted. This led to the cancellation of the woman's marriage, the high court said, citing the prosecution's case. Amit Singh Sisodia argued on behalf of the state government in this case.

Police has claimed that the mentally-challenged girl, who was found in a distressed state with injuries on her private parts in Alwar district, was seen walking alone in the CCTV footage and that she looked fine.
Alwar Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam told reporters that the girl travelled around 25 km from her village alone and reached Alwar city in an auto-rickshaw and then walked towards the Tijara Fatak bridge "on her own".
‘We have been able to track the girl's movements and traced the auto-rickshaw in which she travelled with 8-10 other passengers.  A team of forensic experts have not found any proof that the girl was sexually assaulted in the auto-rickshaw,’ she said.
Gautam said the girl's medical report is yet to be out and teams have been investigating the case based on the FIR.   CCTV footage collected from various locations showed her walking in many areas of the city and on the bridge, but no camera found her in a distressed condition on the bridge, police said.

The minor girl was found lying on a bridge near Tijara Fatak on Tuesday night. She was bleeding and was admitted to the district hospital.
