<p>National School of Drama (NSD) director Chittaranjan Tripathy described Shah Rukh Khan as a "natakwala" (theatre person) first and a superstar second, emphasizing the Bollywood icon&rsquo;s deep roots in theatre. Tripathy, himself an accomplished theatre, TV, and film artist, expressed admiration for the actor's journey from an "ordinary person from an ordinary family" to extraordinary global fame.</p>
<p>"Shah Rukh Khan has done a lot of theatre with Barry John. I consider him a theatre person before being a superstar. It&rsquo;s incredible that someone from theatre has reached such heights,&rdquo; Tripathy told PTI during an interview at the agency&rsquo;s headquarters.</p>
<p>Tripathy lauded Shah Rukh&rsquo;s unique acting style, noting its originality and mass appeal. "The style Shah Rukh discovered for himself was new, unique, and independent. Crores have accepted it. His strong belief in himself is what makes him brilliant," he said.</p>
<p>Reflecting on Shah Rukh&rsquo;s grit, Tripathy praised the actor&rsquo;s resilience in navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry. "It takes guts to stand out in a maze like this. His self-belief is truly commendable," he added.</p>
<p>Ahead of the 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav, NSD's flagship theatre festival starting January 28, Tripathy shared that the event will feature over 200 performances, including 10 international productions, in 10 Indian cities and overseas locations like Colombo and Kathmandu.</p>
<p>Tripathy, known for his work in acclaimed productions like Samudra Manthan and Taj Mahal Ka Tender as well as roles in films like Talvar and web series like Farzi, said it would be a privilege if Shah Rukh visited NSD as a guest, given his theatre background. "It would be our good fortune," he noted.</p>

<p>Tata Starbucks CEO Sushant Dash spilled the beans, revealing that the Khar outlet, located in SRK&rsquo;s Red Chillies Entertainment office, exists mainly because the superstar is a huge fan of the brand.</p>
<p>Sitting pretty on 15th Road, the ground-floor Starbucks in the Red Chillies building is a prime spot for meetings in the bustling Bandra-Khar area.</p>
<p>On Raj Shamani&rsquo;s podcast, Dash was asked if this iconic location was really born from King Khan&rsquo;s caffeine cravings.</p>
<p>&lsquo;He is a big fan, that&rsquo;s what I have heard. He wanted a store at the building, where he had that space. It&rsquo;s a beautiful store and that&rsquo;s his place, he is the landlord. Someone from his office had approached, saying that he is very keen, would you guys be interested. It worked out and it is a lovely space,&rsquo; he shared.</p>
<p>Shah Rukh Khan's coffee obsession is no secret, and many who've worked with him have shared stories about it. Filmmaker Aanand L Rai once joked that SRK could survive on just tandoori chicken and coffee. Co-stars like Tamannaah Bhatia, Jawan actor Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, and Alia Bhatt have all commented on his love for the brew.</p>
<p>Alia Bhatt, who starred with SRK in Dear Zindagi, humorously recalled how during intense scenes, she once heard his stomach growl.</p>
<p>&lsquo;We&rsquo;d be in the middle of heavy scenes, and suddenly I'd hear a growl&mdash;it was coming from his stomach. We used to give him biscuits because he drinks so much coffee, but barely eats. I always told him he should eat more,&rsquo; she said.</p>

<p>Shah Rukh Khan is currently gearing up for a new project titled &lsquo;King&rsquo;, an action thriller directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film will feature not only Shah Rukh but also his daughter, Suhana Khan, alongside Abhishek Bachchan. Set to begin shooting in January 2025, this movie will mark Suhana's debut appearance alongside her father, with a planned release in 2026.</p>

<p>Actor Shah Rukh Khan recently made waves at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where he was honoured with the Pardo alla Carriera (Career Leopard) award for his significant contributions to cinema.</p>
<p>This accolade is a milestone, making him the first Indian to receive it.</p>
<p>At the event, SRK heightened the excitement by announcing that his production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, has acquired the rights to Sanjay Leela Bhansali&rsquo;s 2002 epic, &lsquo;Devdas&rsquo;. He revealed this during a masterclass just before the film&rsquo;s screening, which features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, and Jackie Shroff.</p>
<p>&lsquo;We, as a production company, have reacquired the rights to this film, and I&rsquo;m very proud that it now belongs to us,&rsquo; Shah Rukh Khan said, expressing his pride in the acquisition.</p>
<p>Reflecting on the film&rsquo;s lasting impact, Shah Rukh Khan discussed the significant challenge of reviving this epic love story. With over 18 adaptations already made, including the renowned version with Dilip Kumar, the pressure on Khan and his team to offer a new and engaging take was substantial.</p>
<p>&lsquo;By the time I saw the film, I think there had already been 18 or 20 adaptations, along with numerous plays and songs,&rsquo; he remarked.</p>
<p>Despite the perception that the story might seem outdated due to India&rsquo;s shift toward modern and commercial cinema, SRK was committed to the role.</p>
<p>&lsquo;When Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided to make this film, the prevailing sentiment in India was that it felt outdated. The country was moving towards a more liberalized culture, with audiences leaning towards lighter, commercial content like college musicals,&rsquo; he explained.</p>
<p>Shah Rukh Khan also discussed the major challenges faced during the film&rsquo;s production, including severe financial difficulties and extensive delays. Despite these obstacles, he found the experience profoundly rewarding, particularly as it was a tribute to his late mother, who adored the original story.</p>
<p>&lsquo;It was the most expensive film ever made in India, so it faced numerous troubles&mdash;money issues, disappearing producers, and we had to finish it in a tight timeframe. It went over budget and overtime, but I enjoyed working on it because it felt like a tribute&hellip; a memory to my mother who loved the film. Many actors in Mumbai advised me against doing it, saying it wasn&rsquo;t my usual style and that I was more suited to pop culture. But I was determined to take it on, as it felt like fulfilling an unfinished dream and honoring my mother&rsquo;s love,&rsquo; he said</p>
<p>He also mentioned that he showed the film to the legendary Dilip Kumar, who appreciated their efforts. &lsquo;I give all the credit to the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali,&rsquo; SRK concluded.</p>

<p>At the festival, SRK participated in a live session where he confirmed his role in Sujoy Ghosh&rsquo;s upcoming film, &lsquo;King&rsquo;. Discussing the challenges of action films, he revealed that he would be embarking on a weight loss regimen to prepare for the intense action sequences.</p>
<p>&lsquo;Action is tough&mdash;you have to practice, learn, and even though doubles handle some dangerous stunts, you need to do about 80% of it yourself for authenticity. Otherwise, it just doesn&rsquo;t look right,&rsquo; he shared.</p>

<p>Acoording to media reports, SRK will be travelling to US to undergo an eye treatment. The actor reportedly visited a Mumbai hospital recently, however, the treatment didn't go as planned. Hence, he decided to visit US to get better treatment.</p>
<p>Earlier in May, the actor was hospitalised in an Ahmedabad hospital for a day during the IPL tournament. He suffered from heat stroke and severe dehydration.</p>
<p>The superstar has recently returned from London with his family. Shah Rukh and Gauri traveled to London after participating in the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. They missed the Mangal Utsav (wedding reception) at the Ambani residence, Antilla. The couple returned from London to attend the Shubh Vivah ceremony of Anant and Radhika.</p>
