Uprooting Stumps
In 2021, Shakib was involved in an on-field altercation with the umpire, not once but twice. First, Shakib's LBW appeal was turned and the refusal didn't go well with the cricketer as he kicked the stumps in anger. Just an over later, Shakib's anger flared up once again and he uprooted the stumps completely and animatedly threw them.
However, he apologised for his actions and called it a human error.
Abusing the Umpire
In another incident of misbehaving with the on-field official, Shakib once voiced his anger by hurling a volley of abuses towards umpire Tanvir Ahmed. The incident happened during the Bangladesh Premier League when Shakib's appeal against the rival batter Mushfiqur Rahim was turned down. As a result, Shakib was handed a one-match ban and a $250 fine for his outburst.

'But when I checked again in America there was no stress and I told the doctor there is no World Cup so naturally there is no stress,' Shakib explained.
Shakib was handed over the ODI captaincy a few days before the World Cup but he didn't blame the added pressure as the reason for his stress.
'I don&rsquo;t want to make any excuse for my stress but things would have been fine had I got the captaincy in advance. The team was not ready to play according to my philosophy.'

With T20I captaincy becoming a musical chair, Bangladesh cricket has been going through turmoil in the recent past. First, Mahmudullah gave away the captaincy job to Nurul Hasan and finally, Shakib Al Hasan has been asked to take the top job.
Talking about the team's dynamics, Bangladesh need to find many answers going into the marquee event Down Under. With Sabbir Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz not being established openers, the middle order also looked brittle in absence of an experienced duo, Mushfiqur Rahman and Mahmudullah.

Bangladesh's biggest problem has been their constant chopping and changing, with players struggling to nail down positions also proving to be a bane. In fact, they made 2 changes to their squad just two days before the start of the tournament.

In a format where Bangladesh have simply been ordinary for the past many years, the onus will be on their captain and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to offer them inspiration on the big stage.
The experienced Mahmudullah, their captain in the previous edition is not even in the squad this time around and with no viable options available, Shakib Al Hasan was asked to take up the top job.

In fact, just two days before the start of the tournament, they shuffled their squad once again, largely because of another poor showing in the tri-series in New Zealand.
They have brought in Soumya Sarkar &amp; Shoriful Islam into the squad, replacing Mohammad Saifuddin and Sabbir Rahman, after Sarkar &amp; Shoriful performed marginally better than the two players they have replaced. Saifuddin &amp; Sabbir, in fact, didn't even travel to Australia and have been sent back home from Christchurch itself.
Bangladesh will begin their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on October 24 in the Super 12 round at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

Shakib Al Hasan has become Bangladesh captain for the third time after the Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed him as the new skipper of their Test team following Mominul Haque's recent decision to step down from the captaincy. Liton Das has been named as the vice-captain.
In a press conference, BCB president Nazmul Hassan said, "They will be in the positions until a further decision is made."

This is Shakib's third term as a Test captain of Bangladesh. The 35-year old allrounder was appointed as a captain of Bangladesh in 2009 but later was dismissed from captaincy in 2011. He got back the captaincy in 2017 and remained on the post until he was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
The BCB president further added, "We had three names in our hand. If Shakib was not interested we would have chosen the duo from the three available options."
Shakib has captained Bangladesh in 14 Test matches in which the team won 3 and lost 11 matches.
