Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came down heavily on the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders running an anti-India campaign. She said the BNP leaders who are raising this boycott call have been the primary consumers of Indian spices and their wives have been using Indian sarees.
"This is my question to those leaders who are talking about boycotting Indian products. Their wives have some beautiful Indian sarees. Why don't they take those sarees and burn them? Why don't you ask this to BNP leaders whose wives have Indian sarees? I know many BNP leaders who when in power went to India to buy sarees and sell them back here.&nbsp;
The boycott calls are being raised by the opposition leaders who allege Indian interference in Bangladesh's internal affairs. The prime minister's remarks came after BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi threw away his Kashmiri shawl on the road as a symbolic protest against Indian products, according to The Daily Star.

This was the 10th rally from the main opposition party after it announced in September it will hold protests in 10 big cities across the country.

Tens of thousands of opposition supporters rallied in Bangladesh&rsquo;s capital on Saturday to demand the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resign and install a caretaker before next general elections expected to be held in early 2024.
The supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, headed by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, reached the protest venue in Dhaka overnight amid tight security while Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan warned of dire consequences in case of violence from the rally.
Hasina and her ruling Awami League party, which returned to power in 2018 for the third consecutive time, have repeatedly ruled out the opposition's demand, saying a caretaker government goes against the spirit of the country&rsquo;s constitution.
The venue at Golapbagh in Dhaka was filled up by Saturday morning and the crowd spilled out into streets when opposition activists chanted slogans such as &ldquo;Down with Hasina&rdquo; and &ldquo;We want a fair election.&rdquo;

Saturday&rsquo;s rally was the 10th from the main opposition party after it announced in September it will hold protests in 10 big cities across the country.
All the previous rallies outside Dhaka drew huge crowds despite challenges including what the party said were politically motivated transport strikes and intimidation by security agencies and the ruling party.
Both police and the ruling party denied such allegations.
The rally in Dhaka was held during heightened tension after police stormed the party headquarters following clashes between police and opposition supporters on Wednesday, leaving at least one dead and 50 injured.
Police arrested more than 400 opposition activists.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina was welcomed by her Indian counterpart at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in the national capital where she was accorded the ceremonial Guard of Honour. Hasina arrived in India on Monday on a 4-day visit.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Trade between India-Bangladesh is increasing rapidly. We have decided to extend cooperation in the IT, Space and Nuclear sectors. Talks are also underway between India and Bangladesh on power transmission lines.", PM Modi said while addressing a joint press conference with his counterpart Sheikh Hasina in Delhi.&nbsp;

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday left Dhaka for a four-day state visit to India to meet the country's top leadership to further cement the multifaceted relationship and ink at least seven bilateral agreements in areas like water management, railway and science and technology. 

Issues related to security cooperation, investment, enhanced trade relations, border management, drug smuggling, likely to get priority during talks between Hasina and PM Modi.&nbsp;

A VVIP flight of state-run Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and her entourage took off from Dhaka&rsquo;s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Hasina is expected to land at Palam International Airport in New Delhi in the next two hours, aviation officials said.
&ldquo;This is a state visit and she (Hasina) is going to Delhi at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi,&rdquo; Bangladesh foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen had told a media briefing on Sunday.
Momen said issues related to security cooperation, investment, enhanced trade relations, power and energy sector cooperation, water sharing of common rivers, water resources management, border management, and combating drug smuggling and human trafficking are likely to get priority during the talks between Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Momen, who is also accompanying Hasina to India, said the agreements expected to be inked during the visit would be on water management, railway, science and technology, and information and broadcasting.
&ldquo;After the (signing) ceremony honourable prime ministers of the two countries will issue a joint statement," he said.
The foreign minister said Dhaka expects that the high-level visit would be very successful to &ldquo;help achieve our goals".
This will be Hasina's first visit to India after three years. She visited India in 2019.
Hasina's delegation comprises Foreign Minister Momen, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Liberation War Minister A K M Mozammel Haq and Mashiur AKM Rahman, the economic affairs advisor to the Prime Minister.
The visit will further strengthen the multifaceted relationship between the two countries based on strong historical and cultural ties and mutual trust and understanding, said the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
During her visit, Hasina will also call on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar apart from holding bilateral consultations with her Indian counterpart.\
