Reels are fun but often the land people in trouble too. In one such instance, 38 medical students from Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Karnataka have been penalised for recording reels on the hospital premises.&nbsp;
For violating the rules, the hospital management extended their housemanship training period by 10 days on Saturday, February 10.&nbsp;
Director of Gadag Institute of Medical Science, Dr. Basavaraj Bommanhalli called this incident a grave mistake and said, "There are 38 of them who did this (Instagram reels) within the premises and violated the rules. This is a grave mistake. Whatever they wanted to do, they should have done it outside the hospital premises, avoiding inconvenience to the patients."
Dr. Basavaraj Bommanhalli also stated, "We haven't granted any permission for such activities. They claimed it was recorded for the pre-graduation ceremony. We have taken cognisance of this. Their housemanship was supposed to end in the next 10&ndash;20 days, and we have extended that for another 10 days."

A 35-year-old dental student in Chennai was arrested for allegedly spying on a woman using a pen camera. The woman lived with her husband in a rented house owned by the accused's father.
The matter came to light on Tuesday night after she noticed a red light beaming from an object resembling a pen near one of the windows in the bathroom.
Upon closer inspection, she found a small camera in it, following which the couple lodged a complaint with the police.
After a probe, the police arrested the accused Ibrahim.
&ldquo;He stays with his parents in Royapuram police station jurisdiction, and the victim aged around 30, resides in one of the many houses in the apartment complex. She found a pen camera inside her bathroom and informed her husband about this,&rdquo; police said, according to The New Indian Express news outlet.

In a startling incident, a Tamil Nadu teacher was chased and thrashed by parents of a 7-year-old student who was allegedly hit by the teacher.&nbsp;
The 3-minute video which has gone viral shows, parents barging into the classroom, chasing down and hitting the teacher identified as R Bharat, as per NDTV.&nbsp;
NDTV quoted the mother as saying, it is illegal to beat a child!&nbsp;
Citing officials, the report said the child hit herself while changing seats in the class, however, the kid complained to her parents about the teacher beating her up.&nbsp;
Following the brawl, the couple was arrested and a probe was launched, police said.&nbsp;

While authorities at IIT Bombay have said there was no discrimination on the campus, Darshan Solanki's family claimed he was ostracised by friends.

The family of the 18-year-old IIT Bombay student who died allegedly by suicide has claimed that he was discriminated against on the basis of caste on the campus.
Some of his friends stopped talking to him when they learnt that Darshan Solanki was a Dalit, NDTV reported quoting Solanki's sister.
The IIT Bombay however has rejected charges of caste bias in the institute.
Solanki, a first year student of BTech (Chemical) died allegedly after jumping off the seventh floor of a hostel building on the Powai campus of the premier institute on 12 February.&nbsp;
The Ambedkar Periyar Phule Study Circle, a student group, had called Solanki's death an &ldquo;institutional murder&rdquo;.
However, the institute on Tuesday said it takes utmost precautions to make the campus as inclusive as possible and it has zero tolerance for any discrimination by faculty.

A 19-year-old BTech student was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her friend, at a private university on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Monday, police said.
They said attempting to end his life, the accused too stabbed himself.
Other students, who noticed the duo lying in a pool of blood, alerted the college authorities and security staff.
The victim, identified as Laya Smitha, was rushed to hospital but was declared brought dead. The accused, identified as Pawan Kalyan, has suffered injuries on the chest and is being treated at the hospital.
The incident occurred at the Presidency College, where the victim was studying, while the accused is said to be a BCA student from another college.
Both are said to be from a village in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district and according to the police, Pawan wanted to marry Laya Smitha.&nbsp;

In a shocking incident from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, the teacher of a private school allegedly drilled a class five student's hand as punishment for having forgotten the 'number table of 2', police sources said.
According to sources, the victim was identified as a resident of Sisamau studying at the upper primary school at Premnagar in the Kanpur district.
According to a statement issued by the police, the victim's relatives reached the school on learning about the incident, resulting in an uproar on campus. In her complaint to the police, the girl said, "The teacher (name withheld) asked me to recite the 'Table of 2'. As I failed to do so, he drilled my hand. A fellow student standing beside me unplugged the drill immediately."
The student suffered injuries to his left hand, reports said.

He was reportedly sent home from school after the incident and received a minor treatment.
According to sources, the teacher in-charge allegedly did not inform local education officials about the incident.
It was only after an uproar by the family members that the block education officials were informed. On receiving information, the basic shiksha adhikari and the block education officer reached the spot to investigate the matter.
Speaking about the incident, Basic Shiksha Adhikari of Kanpur Nagar, Sujit Kumar Singh said, "A committee has been formed to investigate this entire incident. Block education officers of Prem Nagar and Shastri Nagar will investigate the matter and send a report. Anyone found guilty would face punitive action."

Students affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have apprised the chancellor of the Allahabad University about the ongoing agitation through postcards.
In a letter, they said a 300-percent fee hike has been effected unethically by the university administration, due to which many students would be deprived of education and a request has been made to withdraw it.
ABVP state convener (sports activity) Kartikeya Pati Tripathi said, "Our fight is with the dictatorial vice-chancellor of Allahabad University because their decision (fee hike) is tarnishing the image of the central and the state government." "I want the government to take suo motu cognizance of this matter and issue a direction to withdraw the fee hike," he said.

Following the incident a large number of students gathered inside the Lovely Professional University campus to protest over the suicide of the first-year student. Heavy police deployment were made in view of the protest. 
The varsity issued a statement and said that the fraternity is“saddened by the unfortunate incident”. It also states that the deceased left a suicide note which cites personal issues.
Further investigation in the matter has been initiated by authorities
