Sunil Lahri, known for his role as Lakshman in Ramayana, has shared his reaction to the BJP's loss in Ayodhya during the Lok Sabha elections. Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad won the Faizabad parliamentary seat, defeating his nearest BJP rival Lallu Singh. Sunil took to his Instagram Stories to post a statement expressing his thoughts on the results.
On Instagram Stories, Sunil Lahri posted an image from Baahubali where Kattappa kills Baahubali, with &lsquo;BJP&rsquo; and &lsquo;Ayodhya&rsquo; labels. He then wrote in Hindi, suggesting Ayodhya's citizens have a history of betrayal, referencing an incident from the Ramayana.
The note in Hindi roughly translates to, &lsquo;We are forgetting that these are the same Ayodhya citizens who doubted Goddess Sita after she returned from exile. What do you call that person who even denies God? Selfish. History is witness that the citizens of Ayodhya have always betrayed their king. Shame on them.&rsquo;
In another Instagram story, his statement read, &lsquo;We salute your greatness dear citizens of Ayodhya, you are the ones who didn&rsquo;t spare even Goddess Sita. We are not shocked that you betrayed the man who made sure that Lord Ram came out of that small tent and was installed in a beautiful temple. The entire nation will never see you with respect again.&rsquo;
Despite the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the BJP lost the Faizabad constituency, where the temple is located. Awadhesh Prasad won with 554,289 votes against Lallu Singh's 499,722, a margin of 54,567. Sunil Lahri, Arun Govil, and Dipika Chikhlia, who portrayed Lord Ram and Sita in Ramayana, attended the temple's consecration.
Sunil Lahri&rsquo;s co-star Arun Govil, who played the role of Ram in the popular television series bagged a seat in Meerut. He congratulated Arun for his win.
