The trend involves a person to test their courage by randomly choosing a food item from a "fear food jar" and then eating it in front of the camera. The foods in that jar are mostly junk, processed and high in calories.
While eating disorders can strike anyone at any age, they typically start in young adults (up to 24 years old) and teenagers (10 to 19 years old).
Individuals with medical conditions that impact appetite and digestion, such as irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and diabetes, are at a higher risk of developing eating disorders.
Treatments that focus on psychological aspects, like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), are the primary options for addressing eating disorders.
Neha Cadabam, senior psychologist and executive director at Cadabams Hospitals and &nbsp;Mindtalk, told Indian Express, &ldquo;For people with eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia, these challenges can be incredibly triggering. They can lead to a rollercoaster of emotions, from intense anxiety and guilt to shame and even relapse into harmful behaviours. It&rsquo;s like poking a wound that&rsquo;s trying to heal.&rdquo;

These critics also say TikTok is subservient to Beijing and a conduit to spread propaganda. China and the company strongly deny these claims.
The bill, which could trigger the rare step of barring a company from operating in the US market, passed the Senate by a 79-18 vote three days after it cleared the House of Representatives with strong bipartisan support.
Biden has stated he will sign the legislation.
He reiterated his concerns about TikTok in a rare telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping early this month.
TikTok complained after Saturday's House vote, saying it was "unfortunate" that lawmakers sought to "jam through a ban bill that would trample the free speech rights of 170 million Americans, devastate seven million businesses, and shutter a platform that contributes $24 billion to the US economy, annually."
Under the bill, ByteDance would have to sell the app within a year or be excluded from Apple and Google's app stores in the United States.

The bill, which seeks to control the ownership of foreign apps like TikTok in the US, now heads to the Senate for it to be sent to President Joe Biden to sign it into law.
Several lawmakers referred to the decision taken by India in 2020 to ban the app.
In 2020, India banned 59 Chinese-created apps, including TikTok, emphasising their priority to defend India's national security, said the office of Congressman Greg Murphy in a statement.
Lack of transparency from TikTok executives and their unwillingness to protect user privacy and information have also encouraged neighbouring governments like the European Union and Canada to prohibit the use of the application on government devices.

A TikToker was recently hospitalised after attempting a viral fitness challenge called 75 Hard. The challenge involved drinking approximately four liters of water daily for 75 days, following a strict diet without alcohol or cheat meals and doing two 45-minute workouts each day.
The challenge gained popularity after being initiated by YouTuber Andy Frisella. Michelle Fairburn, who participated in the challenge, shared a video on TikTok explaining that she believed she suffered from water poisoning, a condition that can arise when consuming more than three to four liters of water within a short period.&nbsp;
Following a series of examinations, the doctor informed her about a significant sodium deficiency. As an alternative to drinking the excessive four liters per day, she was advised to consume less than half a liter of water daily.
However, as per researchers, people only require about 1.5 litres to 1.8 litres of water a day which is lower than the two litres typically recommended. According to Mayo Clinic, about 3.7 liters of fluids a day for men and 2.7 liters of water a day for women is enough.&nbsp;

Five TikTok users filed a lawsuit to overturn a planned ban on the video-sharing app in Montana.
They argued in a legal complaint filed late Wednesday in federal court in Missoula that the law is an unconstitutional violation of free speech rights.
They also say the state doesn't have authority over matters of national security. Gov. Greg Gianforte signed the bill into law Wednesday and said it would protect Montana residents' private data and personal information from being harvested by the Chinese government.
The ban is scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2024.
"We expected a legal challenge and are fully prepared to defend the law," said Emily Flower, spokeswoman for the Montana Department of Justice.
TikTok has argued that the law infringes on people's First Amendment rights and is unlawful.
Some lawmakers, the FBI and officials at other agencies are concerned the video-sharing app, owned by ByteDance, could be used to allow the Chinese government to access information on US citizens or push pro-Beijing misinformation that could influence the public.

After getting inspired by her favourite drink, Chef and food blogger Carolina Gelen, introduced the recipe to TikTokers and it went viral with more than 234 million views.&nbsp;
The condiment is made by whipping butter with a shot of vodka in a food processor. The creamy butter spread can be served with an appetizer or a meal. As per Gelen, it goes best with salty fish.

Britain's privacy watchdog hit TikTok with a multimillion-dollar penalty on Tuesday for a slew of data protection breaches, including misusing children's data.
The Information Commissioner's Office said it issued a fine of 12.7 million pounds (USD 15.9 million) to the short-video sharing app, which is wildly popular with young people.
It's the latest example of tighter scrutiny that TikTok and its parent, Chinese technology company ByteDance, are facing in the West, where governments are increasingly concerned about risks that the app poses to data privacy and cybersecurity.
The British watchdog said TikTok allowed as many as 1.4 million children in the UK under 13 to use the app in 2020, despite the platform's own rules prohibiting children that young from setting up accounts.
TikTok didn't adequately identify and remove children under 13 from the platform, the watchdog said. And even though it knew younger children were using its platform, TikTok failed to get consent from their parents to process their data, as required by Britain's data protection laws, the agency said.
&ldquo;TikTok should have known better. TikTok should have done better,&ldquo; Information Commissioner John Edwards said in a press release. The fine "reflects the serious impact their failures may have had. They did not do enough to check who was using their platform or take sufficient action to remove the underage children that were using their platform.&rdquo; The company said it disagreed with the watchdog's decision.
&ldquo;We invest heavily to help keep under 13s off the platform and our 40,000-strong safety team works around the clock to help keep the platform safe for our community,&rdquo; TikTok said in statement. &ldquo;We will continue to review the decision and are considering next steps.

Britain's parliament Thursday joined the government in banning TikTok, depriving lawmakers of access to the Chinese-owned video app via its internet network.
The announcement came as TikTok's chief executive Shou Zi Chew appeared before a hostile US Congress over its alleged ties to the communist government in Beijing.
The app "will be blocked from all parliamentary devices and the wider parliamentary network", the House of Commons and House of Lords said, adding: "Cyber security is a top priority for parliament."
Individual lawmakers who are dedicated users of TikTok, such as Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps, will still be able to use the app on their own phones, but not when connected via parliament's own WiFi network.
The UK announced last week a security ban of TikTok on government devices, in line with action by the European Union and the United States.
Shapps, who has more than 14,000 followers on TikTok, said he would comply with the ban on his government phone, but still use the app on his own devices.
The devolved government of Scotland announced Thursday that it would also ban the app on its official devices.
TikTok's owner ByteDance and the Chinese government have dismissed the security fears over the app and denounced the Western bans as politically motivated.

Shou Zi Chew's rare public appearance came at a crucial time for the company, which has 150 million American users but is under increasing pressure from U.S. officials.
TikTok and its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, have been swept up in a wider geopolitical battle between Beijing and Washington over trade and technology.
In a bipartisan effort to reign in the power of a major social media platform, Republican and Democratic lawmakers pressed Chew on a host of topics, ranging from TikTok's content moderation practices, how the company plans to secure American data from Beijing, and its spying on journalists.
&ldquo;Mr. Chew, you are here because the American people need the truth about the threat TikTok poses to our national and personal security,&rdquo; Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a Republican, said in her opening statement.
Chew, a 40-year-old Singapore native, told the House Committee on Energy and Commerce that TikTok prioritises the safety of its young users and denied it's a national security risk.
He reiterated the company's plan to protect U.S. user data by storing it on servers maintained and owned by the software giant Oracle.
&ldquo;Let me state this unequivocally: ByteDance is not an agent of China or any other country,&rdquo; Chew said.
TikTok has been dogged by claims that its Chinese ownership means user data could end up in the hands of the Chinese government or that it could be used to promote narratives favourable to the country's Communist leaders.

Dozens of TikTok creators &mdash; some with millions of followers on the video-sharing app &mdash; came to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to lobby in favour of the platform, one day before lawmakers are slated to grill the company's chief executive about concerns over user data falling into the hands of the Chinese government.
Shou Zi Chew plans to tell Congress on Thursday that TikTok, which was founded by Chinese entrepreneurs, is committed to user safety, data protection and security, and keeping the platform free from Chinese government influence. He will also answer questions from U.S. lawmakers worried about the social media platform's effects on its young user base.
At the heart of TikTok's trouble is a Chinese national intelligence law that would compel Chinese companies to fork over data to the government for whatever purposes it deems to involve national security.
There's also concern Beijing might try to push pro-China narratives or misinformation through the platform.
At a media event coordinated by TikTok on Wednesday, some content creators acknowledged that concerns about data security are legitimate, but pointed to precautions the company is taking, such as a $1.5 billion plan &mdash; dubbed Project Texas &mdash; to route all U.S. data to domestic servers owned and maintained by the software giant Oracle.
TikTok has been attempting to sell that proposal to the Biden administration, but sceptics have argued it doesn't go far enough.
The administration is reportedly demanding the company's Chinese owners sell their stakes or face a nationwide ban.
