In July last year, when RPF constable Chetansinh Chaudhary allegedly went on a killing spree leaving four passengers on the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express dead, two of his colleagues were hiding.
A report by the Indian Express said that the two RPF personnel - Constables Amay Acharya and Narendra Parmar - have been dismissed from service citing failure to discharge their duty.
According to their dismissal orders, Acharya hid in the washroom of a coach instead of intervening, while Parmar hid behind passengers as Chaudhary took a passenger hostage at gunpoint in front of him, led him to another coach, and killed him.
According to the Indian Express, the dismissal orders of the two constables said: &ldquo;It was the responsibility of the accused constables on duty to provide security and protection to the passengers&hellip; They, however, failed to do the same. The act of the accused constables would erode trust among passengers towards RPF and&hellip; send a wrong message among other members of the force towards indiscipline. To ensure that there is no repetition of the same, retaining the constables in the force despite their failure to discharge their duty would be fatal for RPF.&rdquo;
Chaudhary is accused of gunning down his superior officer ASI Tika Ram Meena and three passengers onboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express near Palghar.
He was held with his service weapon from along the railway tracks at Mira Road after passengers pulled the train's alarm chain.&nbsp;

A goods train ran for 84 kilometres without its drivers from Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, before it was eventually halted at Mukerian in Punjab. This unusual incident, which took place on Sunday around 7 am, was caught on camera.&nbsp;
The train had stopped at the Kathua railway station in Jammu for a driver change and it seems that it began to roll down a slope gradient track on the Jammu-Jalandhar section, a spokesperson of the Northern Railway told PTI news agency, citing preliminary information.
Divisional Traffic Manager, Jammu, Prateek Srivastava told PTI that "an inquiry has been initiated to know the exact cause of the incident. Prima facie, it seems that the train started rolling down the slope gradient towards Punjab without the driver and his assistant".
He said the train came to a halt near Unchi Bassi due to steep gradient, after covering a distance of more than 70 km.
The officials said that the train was successfully halted with the assistance of sandbags.

A 36-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh died inside the Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti Express which was en route from Chennai to Hazrat Nizamuddin.
The man, who used to work in Chennai, was travelling to Banda with his brother-in-law when the incident occurred.
Passengers were forced to travel with the body for about 600 kilometres despite urging railway authorities to remove it.
The body was finally taken into custody by the Government Railway Police after the train reached Jhansi. The body was sent for post-mortem.

Biswajit Sahu, CPRO, East Coast Railway, said that officials are now working on track restotation.&nbsp;
'So far, 11 people have died and 50 others are injured. We are presently focusing on the track restoration work. The rescue operation is over now...We have arranged buses and trains for the stranded passengers,' Biswajit Sahu, CPRO, East Coast Railway, said.&nbsp;
Emergency workers and local volunteers were on Sunday night searching the wreckage to rescue passengers trapped in the mangled remains of coaches after a train overshot the signal and rammed into another train in Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh on the Howrah-Chennai line.
At least 11 persons died and around 50 injured were shifted to hospitals after the accident involving 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger train and 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger Special occurred at around 7 pm.
Two coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger train from the rear and the loco of Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger which overshot the signal got derailed, railway officials said, adding that human error is suspected to have caused the accident.
Images from the site showed several crushed and overturned coaches and emergency workers struggling to rescue the injured in the dark. According to local officials, the electric lines were affected due to the crash.
Rescue and medical teams were rushed to the site from surrounding areas after the incident, officials said.

At least nine people were killed and more than 32 injured after two trains collided on the Howrah-Chennai line in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening, police said.
A senior official of the East Coast Railway (ECR) said at around 7 pm, the Palasa passenger train hit the Rayagada passenger train from behind at Kankatapalli, causing three coaches to derail.
According to the information provided by Vizianagaram Collector S Nagalakshmi, at least 32 people were injured.
A senior railway official said the injured were being shifted to hospitals in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram.
In a post on X, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government has announced ex-gratia payments for the victims.
"All injured shifted to hospitals. Ex-gratia compensation disbursement started -- Rs 10 Lakh in case of death, Rs 2 Lakh towards grievous and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries," he said on the microblogging website.

Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad went to the site of the accident.
"We are in the process of checking all the coaches. Once that is done, we will be able to ascertain the exact number of the deceased. We have sent 13 injured people to the government primary healthcare centre. There may be some people with simple injuries," Prasad told PTI.
He further said they are in the process of separating the entangled coaches and would get a clearer picture once that is done.
"We have received 32 injured passengers from the accident site and some of them are in a serious condition. Besides, some injured passengers have been admitted to other hospitals also," Dr Anila Sunandini, Superintendent of the Government General Hospital, Vizianagaram, told PTI.

Two coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train from the rear and the locomotive of the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train got derailed, the official added.
Rescue operations are underway with the DRM, Waltair and his team on the spot. Accident relief trains and other rescue equipment have been engaged, the official said.
The PMO said on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in touch with the railway minister and all assistance is being provided to those affected.
"@narendramodi spoke to Railway Minister Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw and took stock of the situation in the wake of the unfortunate train derailment between Alamanda and Kantakapalle section. Authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected. The Prime Minister extends condolences to the bereaved families and prays that the injured recover soon," it said.
Vaishnaw said all passengers have been shifted from the accident spot.
"Rescue operations are underway. All passengers shifted. @narendramodi Ji reviewed the situation. Spoke to the CM of Andhra Pradesh. State govt and railway teams are working in close coordination," he said on X.
Reddy instructed officials to undertake rescue operations. He asked them to arrange a sufficient number of ambulances to ferry the injured.
Andhra Pradesh minister Botcha Satyanarayana also reached the spot and is overseeing the rescue operations.
Senior officials of Vizianagaram district are also at the site.
The rescue efforts are being hampered by the darkness. Meanwhile, the ECR has set up helplines.
Local administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were informed, seeking assistance and ambulances, and accident relief trains have reached the site, the officials said.&nbsp;

"It was reported that a minor electrical issue occurred in the coach no. B-5 of Secunderabad-Agartala Express near Brahmapur station. The staff on duty attended to the issue immediately and rectified it," a ECoR official said.

Two youths were run over by a train while filming on a mobile phone at railway tracks near Kanti Nagar flyover in the national capital, Delhi Police said. The deceased youngsters have been identified as Vansh Sharma, 23, a 3rd year BTech student, and Monu, 20, a salesman. Both of them hailed from Kanti Nagar Extension, Delhi.
According to the police, the incident took place on February 22 and the police received the information at around 4.35 pm at the Shahdara police station, Old Delhi Railway station.
Following the information, a police team reached the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem examination. The police said that the bodies were shifted to GTB Hospital mortuary and preserved in GTB Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Their mobiles were also found on the track.
"On inquiry, it was found that the deceased used to shoot short films on mobile and came to railway tracks to make live videos. Their mobiles were also found on the track," the police said. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

Woman falls into gap between moving train and platform at Nagpur station; dies

The deceased, identified as Gayatri Pande (45), was a resident of Nalanda in Bihar and fell into the gap between the train and the platform, he said.

She came under the wheels of the train after her grip on the door handle loosened while attempting to board the moving train at platform No. 1 of the railway station here, he said.
The official said Pande was with her two daughters and travelling in train No. 06591 Bengaluru-Danapur special. The woman and her daughters were coming from Bengaluru where her husband is posted as a bank manager.
A case of accidental death was registered by Government Railway Police.

Three of them tried to outrun the onrushing train and cross the tracks, but were hit. The fourth survived by sitting between the two lines. The men had been returning home after going to a nearby park.
Police said they do not suspect foul play in the deaths. The incident occurred between Badli yard and Holambi in northwest Delhi's Badli area.
The deceased, aged between 19 and 21, were identified as Mohammad Hafiz, Mohammad and Riyazul. All three worked as labourers at Badli Industrial Area and lived in Rana park in Siraspur village.
