Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested two RTA officials, Jatinder Kumar and Mukesh, for accepting a Rs 5500 bribe in Pathankot. The arrest followed a complaint from Surjit Kumar about a vehicle registration transfer.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) apprehended two officials of the Registration and Transport Authority (RTA) in Pathankot on Monday for accepting a bribe of Rs 5500.
Jatinder Kumar, a data entry operator, and Mukesh, both posted at the RTA office, were arrested after a complaint was lodged by Surjit Kumar, a resident of Manwal village in Pathankot. Kumar alleged that the accused demanded a bribe for transferring his vehicle's registration from Himachal Pradesh to Punjab.
An official spokesperson of the state Vigilance Bureau also added that after a preliminary enquiry into this complaint the VB team laid a trap during which both the aforementioned accused were caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5500 from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses.&nbsp;
&nbsp; He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB Police Station, Amritsar range. Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari o said that he wants to introduce skybuses on select stretches of Delhi and Haryana to reduce traffic and pollution.
Gadkari further said that climate agenda is the highest priority for the government as economic growth with pollution is not a good strategy.
"I want to start skybuses (mass transit service) from Dhaula Kuan to Manesar and later extend it to Sohna to reduce traffic and pollution," he said, without providing more details.
The minister was addressing an event organised by Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Gadkari said his dream is to reduce import of fossil fuels in India to zero.
The minister said the government's priority is to make green hydrogen from water.
Gadkari emphasised on the need to encourage use of ethanol for transportation purpose as it is economically cheaper, pollution-free and indigenous.
"Ethanol is going to increase agriculture growth in the country as we will manufacture ethanol from rice," he said.
Gadkari also noted that banning thermal power plants will not be good for the economy

A vehicle with BH mark will not require a new registration mark when the owner shifts from one State to another.The format of BH-series registration mark will be YY BH #### XX. YY denotes the year of first registration, BH is code for Bharat Series, #### is the randomised four digit number and XX are two alphabets, according to road transport ministry.
How does it help?
It puts an end to a cumbersome process for vehicle owners who shift due to official work from re-registering their vehicle and paying, collecting back road tax from states.&nbsp;
<h3>Who is eligible?</h3>
This facility will be available on voluntary basis to Defense personnel as well as Central and State Government employees.&nbsp;Employees of private companies having offices in four or more states can also take advantage of this facility.
<h3>What is the tax payable for a BH series registration?</h3>
According to government notification, the motor vehicle tax levied by the state and union territories at the time of registration in respect to BH-series non-transport vehicle will be 8 per cent in case of vehicles costing up to&nbsp;₹10 lakh, 10 per cent in case of vehicles costing between&nbsp;₹10-20 lakh and 12 per cent in case of vehicles costing above 20 lakh.

The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday extended the lockdown in the state till July 19 easing out a few restrictions for the citizens.

E-cycle sharing system could soon be a possibility in South Delhi

The SDMC&nbsp;has approved a proposal for an e-cycle sharing system in South Delhi. It will promote sustainable transport and enhance last mile connectivity.

An e-cycle sharing system may soon be a reality in South Delhi after a proposal for the project received the municipal corporation&nbsp;panel chief's nod.
A policy for installation and operation of public e-bike, e-cycle or cycle transportation sharing system has been approved by the civic body.
Those interested may pick up these bikes from one station and return them to another.
The initiative, authorities hope, will encourage sustainable transport options and enhance last mile connectivity. A mobile app or a wireless tracking system will keep a track of where the vehicle is picked up from and dropped at.

Car buyers in Delhi will now have to pay a higher one-time parking fees. The charges will now range from between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 75,000 and have been approved by the three municipal councils. An order issued on Friday by outgoing Transport Commissioner Varsha Joshi said that the new parking charges will be applicable from 1 January, 2019. Disgruntled transporters have threatened to stage a protest against the hike.
