The boy and his mother were among 14 people held arrested in early morning raids across Teesside over violence Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.
Superintendent Marc Anderson said the unrest in Middlesbrough was unlike anything he's seen in 30 years of service.
According to Guardian, at least three 11-year-olds have been arrested by police in England and Northern Ireland since clashes erupted on July 30.

A 15-year-old boy became the first to be charged with rioting over Southport attack in UK.

Far-right protesters, accused of widespread anti-immigrant violence in the UK, may now face charges of rioting, and not just violent disorder. While violent disorder carries a jail sentence of up to five years, the rioting charge attracts a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail.
A 15-year-old boy from Sunderland became the first to be charged with rioting. This came as a shock to the teenager who had already pleaded guilty of violent disorder and burglary.
Northumbria Police said detectives believed the boy was "involved in further criminality" after viewing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage.
District Judge Zoe Passfield of South Tyneside Youth Court said the rioting charge must be surprising and confusing to the boy. The case has been adjourned to September 2.
Though the boy was the first to be charged, authorities said they plan to prosecute a number of individuals for rioting.
More than a thousand people have been arrested and over 600 have been charged so far in connection with the violent protests. Many have received jail sentences.

The United Kingdom has exited recession with stronger-than-expected growth in the first quarter of 2024. This comes ahead of the general elections that is set to happen this year.&nbsp;
Better than Expected GDP growth
United Kingdom's economy grew 0.6% in the first three months of this year, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said in a statement. This outpaces market's prediction of 0.4%.
Britain's economy suffered two consecutive quarter of contraction in the last part of the year. By this, UK entered recession with elevated inflation and a cost-of-living crisis. GDP had shrunk by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2023 after contracting by 0.1% in the prior three months.
This comes as day after Bank of England kept its main interest rate at a 16-year high, but hinted at a cut over the summer as UK inflation cools further -- and forecast emergence from recession.
"After two quarters of contraction, the UK economy returned to positive growth in the first three months of this year," said ONS director of economic statistics Liz McKeown. "There was broad-based strength across the service industries with retail, public transport and haulage, and health all performing well", she added
Rishi Sunak, whose governing Conservatives are trailing the main opposition Labour Party ahead of a general election, has made economic growth one of his top priorities.
"There is no doubt it has been a difficult few years, but today's growth figures are proof that the economy is returning to full health for the first time since the pandemic," said finance minister Jeremy Hunt. "We're growing this year and have the best outlook among European G7 countries over the next six years," he added.

The UK on Thursday increased the income required to sponsor someone coming to the country on a family visa as part of the government's plan to cut immigration.
From Thursday, the minimum income requirement needed to bring a family member to the UK will go up to &pound;29,000 ($36,800) from &pound;18,600, rising to &pound;38,700 early next year.
The move forms part of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's plan to "cut unsustainable and unfair levels of migration, and ensure those arriving here do not burden the taxpayer".
Immigration, at record levels in recent years, is likely to be a key issue in a general election due later in 2024, with polling showing that Sunak's Conservatives are due for a heavy defeat.
"We have reached a tipping point with mass migration. There is no simple solution or easy decision which cuts numbers to levels acceptable to the British people," interior minister James Cleverly said.
"We've acted to cut unsustainable numbers, to protect British workers and their wages, to ensure those bringing family to the UK do not burden taxpayers," he added.
The income requirement is designed to ensure families are self-sufficient and can be met in a number of ways, including through savings and via income from employment.
The government unveiled a raft of measures in December aimed at cracking down on the record migration levels, including a 47-percent hike in the minimum salary for skilled work visas.
The government intends to ultimately synchronise the threshold for family visas with that of skilled work visas.
Tightened regulations for students and a 66-percent increase in the health surcharge for foreigners using the National Health Service (NHS) were also part of the broader immigration strategy.
Cleverly said at the time that the overall plan was to reduce annual net migration to the UK, currently running at 745,000, by 300,000.

The British economy fell into recession at the end of 2023 as output shrank more than anticipated in the final three months of the year, official figures showed Thursday.
The Office for National Statistics estimated that economic activity, as measured by gross domestic product, declined by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of the year from the previous three-month period, with all three main sectors &mdash; services, industrial production and construction &mdash; down.
That was far more than the 0.1% decline anticipated by economists.
The quarterly decline followed a 0.1% fall in the previous three-month period and highlights how the economy has been hobbled by high interest rates that have been raised to reduce inflation.
A recession is officially defined as two straight quarters of economic decline.
It is the first time the British economy has fallen into recession since the first half of 2020, when output dived during the coronavirus pandemic.
The figures deal a blow to the governing Conservative Party ahead of a general election this year, the date of which will be determined by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Being in recession is hardly the ideal backdrop for a party that is heavily trailing the main opposition Labour Party in opinion polls.
The hope is that the Bank of England will soon start cutting interest rates as inflation falls back toward its 2% target. Inflation currently stands at 4%.
Though interest rates appear to have peaked, the central bank has expressed caution about cutting interest rates too soon as lower borrowing rates may bolster spending and put renewed upward pressure on prices.
The Bank of England has managed to get inflation down from a four-decade high of more than 11% by raising its main interest rate aggressively from near zero to 5.25% from late 2022 until August last year.

Apex court rules UK government policy to deport refugees to Rwanda unlawful

The appeal was lodged by the Braverman-led Home Office after a Court of Appeal decision similarly went against the government.

&nbsp;The UK government on Wednesday lost a crucial legal challenge after the Supreme Court in London ruled that its policy to deport refugees to Rwanda while their application for asylum is processed is unlawful.
The country&rsquo;s highest court agreed with a previous Court of Appeal decision to say that there are "substantial grounds" to believe people deported to Rwanda could then be sent to places they would be unsafe by the Rwandan government.
It was one of the flagship policies championed by recently sacked home secretary Suella Braverman, who in a scathing pre-emptive letter had sought to lay the blame for such a ruling at the door of the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak &ndash; claiming he had &ldquo;failed to prepare any sort of credible Plan B&rdquo; to tackle the issue of illegal migration.
Sunak admitted it was &ldquo;not the outcome&rdquo; the government wanted as part of his "stop the boats" pledge but stressed that he had prepared for such an eventuality.
&ldquo;We accept the Home Secretary&rsquo;s submission that the Rwandan government entered into the agreement in good faith, and that the capacity of the Rwandan system to produce accurate and fair decisions can and will be built up,&rdquo; notes the Supreme Court ruling.
&ldquo;Nevertheless, asking ourselves whether there were substantial grounds for believing that a real risk of refoulment existed at the relevant time, we have concluded that there were. The changes needed to eliminate the risk of refoulement may be delivered in the future, but they have not been shown to be in place now. The Home Secretary&rsquo;s appeal is therefore dismissed,&rdquo; it concludes.
&nbsp;It will now be her successor, Home Secretary James Cleverly, who will be responsible for formulating the government&rsquo;s response and strategy going forward.
&ldquo;We have seen today&rsquo;s judgment and will now consider next steps. This was not the outcome we wanted, but we have spent the last few months planning for all eventualities and we remain completely committed to stopping the boats,&rdquo; Sunak said in a statement.
&ldquo;Crucially, the Supreme Court &ndash; like the Court of Appeal and the High Court before it &ndash; has confirmed that the principle of sending illegal migrants to a safe third country for processing is lawful. This confirms the government&rsquo;s clear view from the outset. Illegal migration destroys lives and costs British taxpayers millions of pounds a year. We need to end it and we will do whatever it takes to do so,&rdquo; he said.
The unanimous judgment was read out by Lord Robert Reed, President of the Supreme Court, which the Rwandan government has &ldquo;taken issue with&rdquo;.
"This is ultimately a decision for the UK's judicial system. However, we do take issue with the ruling that Rwanda is not a safe third country for asylum seekers and refugees, in terms of refoulement," a Rwandan government spokesperson said.
The deportation scheme as part of a GBP 140-million pact with Rwanda was initially launched by former home secretary Priti Patel and designed to see those arriving in the UK illegally, including via small boats across the English Channel, deported to the east African nation.
Refugee charities have consistently called the proposal "inhumane" and claimed it breaks human rights laws, while Opposition parties have deemed the plan a "gimmick".
An injunction from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) stopped the first flight of deportees to Rwanda from taking off in June last year and the scheme has been embroiled in litigation ever since, which means no asylum seekers have yet been deported to the country under the policy.&nbsp;

A 23-year-old Indian-origin man has been charged with the murder of an Indian woman who was found with stab wounds at a home in Croydon in south London.
Shail Sharma remains in custody after Mehak Sharma was pronounced dead after police and paramedics were called to the property on Sunday evening.
The Metropolitan Police said that the victim&rsquo;s next of kin have been informed and a special post-mortem will take place on Tuesday.
&ldquo;Mehak&rsquo;s next of kin have been informed and formal identification awaits,&rdquo; the Met Police said.
&ldquo;A special post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 31 October,&rdquo; the police said.
According to local media reports, Mehak is believed to have arrived in the UK from India only recently.
Her relationship, if any, with the murder suspect remains unknown.
Shail Sharma was arrested at the scene at Ash Tree Way in Croydon on Sunday and is due to appear before Wimbledon Magistrates&rsquo; Court on Tuesday.
&ldquo;Anyone with information that may assist the investigation, including anyone who saw or heard a disturbance on Sunday afternoon at the address in Ash Tree Way, is asked to call police,&rdquo; the Met Police said.

UK spy chief has said that the war between Hamas and Israel increases terror risk domestically

Britain's domestic MI5 spy agency chief has warned the current conflict in Israel and the Palestinian territories increases UK terror risk, singling out Iran as a cause for concern.
The comments by MI5 director general Ken McCallum, reported in UK media Wednesday, follow terror attacks by suspected Islamist extremists in France and Belgium since renewed violence erupted in the Middle East 11 days ago.
"There clearly is the possibility that profound events in the Middle East will either generate more volume of UK threat and/or change its shape in terms of what is being targeted, in terms of how people are taking inspiration," McCallum said.
He was speaking to British media at a summit in the United States attended by its intelligence chiefs and counterparts from Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
"In the current climate, we and our partners are particularly attuned to the risk that terrorist organisations may choose to strike in a new way, or perhaps that individuals choose to respond often in spontaneous or unpredictable ways," he added.
McCallum, an MI5 veteran appointed to the top job in March 2020, rarely speaks in public.
In remarks specifically about Iran, he noted London had "been concerned" about its behaviour within Britain "for a long time", with the current Middle East situation heightening those concerns.
"In particular, the last 18 months or so have been a particularly intensive phase of Iran-generated threat on UK soil," he said.
The domestic spy chief added that Tehran had mainly targeted its "internal enemies, dissidents, Farsi media organisations" in the UK.
"Clearly one of the things on our minds is might the Iranian targeting intent shift in response to events elsewhere," he told the Daily Telegraph.
"I wouldn't rule out the possibility that could include the UK."
Assessing beyond the Middle East, McCallum noted the world had entered a new, more dangerous era, in which "authoritarian states" were "behaving much more aggressively".
"We are in a different world now than the world we've all lived in since the end of the Cold War," he said.
McCallum has previously used speeches to warn against the increasing espionage threat posed by China.
Speaking to the BBC at this week's security summit, he noted more than 20,000 people in Britain have now been approached covertly online by Chinese spies while warning Beijing is trying to steal cutting-edge research from Western nations.
"We have seen a sustained campaign on a pretty epic scale," Mr McCallum said.

Scotland Yard has arrested a man on suspicion of &ldquo;violent disorder&rdquo; in connection with an attack on the Indian High Commission in London in March this year.
The Metropolitan Police said the man, who was arrested during a protest outside India House on Monday, was held in connection with a protest on March 19 and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
A British Sikh man was seen being led away by police officers on patrol during Monday&rsquo;s protest, called to demand UK government intervention over Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau&rsquo;s claims of alleged Indian involvement in the killing of wanted terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an allegation strongly rejected by India as &ldquo;absurd and motivated&rdquo;.
&ldquo;On Monday, October 2, a man was arrested outside the Indian High Commission on suspicion of violent disorder in relation to a protest at the same venue on 19 March,&rdquo; the Met Police statement said.
&ldquo;The man was taken into custody and has been bailed pending further enquiries,&rdquo; the statement noted.
The man can be named only after he is charged but is believed to be one of over a dozen individuals identified by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to have been responsible for the attack on the High Commission of India on March 19, when pro-Khalistan extremists scaled the building and attempted to pull down the Indian national flag. At least one official was injured as objects were hurled at the building and windows were shattered.
At the time, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned the senior-most UK diplomat in New Delhi to convey India&rsquo;s &ldquo;strong protest&rdquo; at the actions of separatist and extremist elements against the High Commission of India in London. In June, the NIA released photographs of suspects they believe were involved in the violent protest as the central agency took over the probe after Home Ministry officials met UK representatives in the wake of the attack.
The latest arrest comes as Police Scotland revealed that it had found &ldquo;no criminality&rdquo; related to the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, being blocked from a gurdwara by pro-Khalistan extremists in Glasgow last week.
"Following extensive enquiries into a report of a disturbance in the Albert Drive area of Glasgow on Friday, September 29, 2023, no criminality has been established," said a Police Scotland spokesperson.
The police had been summoned over the &ldquo;disgraceful incident&rdquo; as three people &ldquo;deliberately disrupted&ldquo; the planned community visit and one man even attempted to violently force open the diplomatic vehicle as senior diplomats arrived at Glasgow Gurdwara Guru Granth Sahib on Albert Drive.
&ldquo;It is due to the quick reaction of one of the organisers, who physically intervened at the car door, that a bigger incident was avoided. The High Commission of India has reported this disgraceful incident to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Metropolitan Police,&rdquo; the Indian High Commission statement said at the time.
Glasgow Gurdwara had also followed up with its statement to condemn the &ldquo;disorderly behaviour&rdquo; by "unknown" and "unruly" individuals, who disturbed the peace at a place of worship and attempted to disrupt the visit of the envoy facilitated by a member of the Scottish Parliament.
&ldquo;Glasgow Gurdwara strongly condemns such disorderly behaviour to disrupt the peaceful proceedings of a Sikh place of worship. The Gurdwara is open to people from all communities and backgrounds, and we welcome everyone openly as per our principles of faith,&rdquo; it said.

Thousands of passengers bound for UK airports remain stranded on Monday following a "technical issue" that hit the country's air traffic control systems, which has since been "identified and remedied" but the disruption caused with hundreds of flight cancellations is expected to continue into the week.
The disruption comes on one of the busiest travel days of the year - with many people returning from holidays on the last Bank Holiday weekend of the summer.
The UK's National Air Traffic Services (NATS), which had "applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety" across UK airports, apologised for the disruption caused by issues in its flight planning system which was affecting its "ability to automatically process flight plans".
It said that engineers would be monitoring the system's performance as it returns to normal.
"We have identified and remedied the technical issue affecting our flight planning system this morning,&rdquo; NATS said in a statement.
"We are now working closely with airlines and airports to manage the flights affected as efficiently as possible. Our engineers will be carefully monitoring the system&rsquo;s performance as we return to normal operations,&rdquo; it said.
It explained that the flight planning issue affected the system&rsquo;s ability to automatically process flight plans, meaning that flight plans had to be processed manually which cannot be done at the same volume, hence the requirement for traffic flow restrictions.
"Our priority is always to ensure that every flight in the UK remains safe and we are sincerely sorry for the disruption this is causing. Please contact your airline for information on how this may affect your flight,&rdquo; it added.
The NATS describes itself as the country's leading provider of air traffic control services, which handles 2.5 million flights and 250 million passengers in a "normal year".
Meanwhile, airlines and airports have continued to warn of "widespread disruption" while systems get back up and running as normal. Some travellers were forced to sit inside a plane for hours, while others have been stuck inside airports.
British Airways and several other airlines said it has made "significant changes" to its flight schedule due to the earlier air traffic control issue.
"The technical issue which limited UK air traffic earlier today has been fixed by NATS. However, schedules will remain significantly disrupted for the rest of the day. We ask passengers to only travel to the airport if their flight is confirmed as still operating,&rdquo; Heathrow Airport said.
"Teams across Heathrow are working as hard as they can to minimise the knock-on impacts and assist those whose journeys have been affected," it said.
An estimated 500 flights are believed to have been cancelled as a result of the glitch, which will continue to cause chaos at UK airports for days to come. Luton, Stansted, Gatwick and Manchester airports all reported problems.
Airlines including Ryanair, EasyJet, Wizz Air, Loganair and Aer Lingus had all warned passengers of delays or cancellations to flights and will now be working to try and cover the backlog.

A British nurse was on Friday found guilty of murdering seven newborn babies and trying to murder six others at the hospital neonatal unit where she worked with sick and premature infants.
Lucy Letby, 33, who has been on trial since last October, was accused of injecting her young victims with air, overfeeding them milk and poisoning them with insulin.
The jury at Manchester Crown Court in northern England reached its verdict after deliberating for 22 days.
Letby was arrested following a string of baby deaths at the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital in northwest England between June 2015 and June 2016.
Described by the prosecution as a "calculating" woman who used methods of killing that "didn't leave much of a trace", Letby had repeatedly denied harming the children.
The court heard that colleagues raised concerns after noticing that Letby was on shift when each of the babies collapsed, with some of the newborns attacked just as their parents left their cot sides.
Prosecutor Nick Johnson said Letby "gaslighted" her colleagues into believing the string of deaths were "just a run of bad luck".
Letby's final victims were two triplet boys, referred to in court as babies O and P.
Child O died after Letby's return from a holiday in Ibiza in June 2016 while child P died a day after their sibling.
Letby was also said to have attacked another baby boy, child Q, shortly after but the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the charge.

A UK-born Indian-origin consultant paediatrician at a hospital in northern England is among those who raised concerns and helped convict a nurse found guilty of killing seven babies by a UK court on Friday.
Dr Ravi Jayaram, from the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, said some of those lives could have been saved if his concerns about former nurse colleague Lucy Letby had been heeded and the police alerted sooner.
Letby, 33, was found guilty of the murder of seven newborn babies and also found guilty of seven counts of attempted murder relating to six other babies by a jury at Manchester Crown Court. She will be sentenced at the same court on Monday.
&ldquo;I do genuinely believe that there are four or five babies who could be going to school now who aren't," Dr Jayaram told &lsquo;ITV News&rsquo; in a television interview after the verdict.
He told the channel that consultants first began raising concerns after three babies died in June 2015. As more babies collapsed and died, senior medics like him held several meetings with hospital executives to raise their concerns about Letby.
Eventually, it was in April 2017 that the National Health Service (NHS) trust allowed doctors to meet with a police officer.
"The police, after listening to us for less than 10 minutes, realised that this is something that they had to be involved with. I could have punched the air," said Dr Jayaram.
Shortly afterwards, an investigation was launched that would lead to Letby&rsquo;s arrest.
The UK&rsquo;s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) told the court that Letby used a variety of methods to secretly attack a total of 13 babies in the neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester hospital between 2015 and 2016.
During her trial, which began in October last year, Manchester Crown Court heard that doctors at the hospital began to notice a significant rise in the number of babies who were dying or were unexpectedly collapsing.
The CPS presented evidence of Letby using various methods to attack babies, including the injection of air and insulin into their bloodstream; the infusion of air into their gastrointestinal tract; force feeding an overdose of milk or fluids; impact-type trauma.
Her intention was to kill the babies while deceiving her colleagues into believing there was a natural cause, the jury was told.
&ldquo;Lucy Letby sought to deceive her colleagues and pass off the harm she caused as nothing more than a worsening of each baby&rsquo;s existing vulnerability. In her hands, innocuous substances like air, milk, fluids &ndash; or medication like insulin &ndash; would become lethal. She perverted her learning and weaponised her craft to inflict harm, grief and death,&rdquo; said Pascale Jones of the CPS.
&ldquo;Time and again, she harmed babies, in an environment which should have been safe for them and their families. Her attacks were a complete betrayal of the trust placed in her,&rdquo; he said.
Letby was first arrested in July 2018 and subsequently charged in November 2020.
Jonathan Storer, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Mersey-Cheshire, added: &ldquo;This is an utterly horrifying case. Like everyone who followed the trial, I have been appalled by Letby&rsquo;s callous crimes.
&ldquo;To the families of the victims &ndash; I hope your unimaginable suffering is eased in some way by the verdicts. Our thoughts remain with you.&rdquo; Among the mountain of evidence presented in court were many handwritten notes discovered by police during their investigation. They included phrases such as: &ldquo;I killed them on purpose because I&rsquo;m not good enough to care for them&rdquo;; &ldquo;I am evil I did this&rdquo;; and &ldquo;today is your birthday and you are not here and I am so sorry for that&rdquo;. These notes gave an insight into Letby's mindset following her attacks, the court was told.
The CPS was able to show the jury that Letby was the one common denominator in the series of deaths and sudden collapses in the neonatal unit.
Besides, medical documents featuring falsified notes made by the nurse to hide her involvement and social media activity to deceive her colleagues were among the other pieces of evidence presented in court.
Letby was found not guilty of two charges of attempted murder and the jury, many of them visibly distraught at the tough case, was unable to reach verdicts on six further counts of attempted murder. Through the trial, Letby claimed that she was being wrongly accused to cover hospital failings.
The Cheshire Constabulary, which investigated the case, said it had been one of the toughest cases for them.
&ldquo;The details of this case are truly crushing. A trained nurse responsible for caring and protecting tiny, premature babies; a person who was in a position of trust, she abused that trust in the most unthinkable way,&rdquo; said Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Evans, the Deputy Senior Investigating Officer.
&ldquo;I cannot begin to understand what the families have had to endure over the past seven or eight years but we have been humbled by their composure and resilience throughout this whole process,&rdquo; she said.&nbsp;

Choudary, 56, was charged by the Metropolitan Police on Sunday with membership of a proscribed (banned) organisation, addressing meetings to encourage support for a proscribed organisation, and directing a terrorist organisation under different sections of the UK&rsquo;s Terrorism Act 2000.

&ldquo;They were held under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and detectives were granted warrants of further detention allowing them to detain the men until Monday, 24 July,&rdquo; the statement added.
After the extended questioning, both men were remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Monday.
UK-born Choudary has been associated with different radical outfits, including the now-banned Islamist group Al Muhajiroun.
